THREE KEY FACTORS CONSIDERED BY JUDGE IN JUVENTUS INVESTIGATION
The Turin Judge for Preliminary Investigation has reportedly identified three reasons why Juventus are unlikely to face severe punishment as a result of their recent financial practices.
Tuttosport details how the judge Ludovico Morello is looking to reject the various requests made by the prosecutors who led the investigation into Juventus’ accounts and financial behaviour, highlighting three specific reasons why things are not as serious as first seemed.
The first of these is focused on the usage of falsified capital gains; Morello highlighted how falsified capital gains are a widespread and constant practice in football, suggesting there was no criminal intent or malice by Juventus.
Morello also noted that the Juventus management have a clean record and are predictably sensitive regarding the consequences of the investigations.
Finally, a key element highlighted by Morello was the COVID pandemic in 2020. It was suggested by the judge that Juventus would not have acted in this fashion had the pandemic not threatened the financial security of all football clubs in Italy. This ties into the club’s usage of hidden salary payments, something that wouldn’t have happened without the pandemic.
