England and France name squads to face Brazil
England manager Roy Hodgson and France boss Didier Deschamps both named their squads to face Brazil on Thursday.
The Seleção will face England at the Maracanã on June 2 before taking on France at Grêmio Arena one week later, less than one week ahead of the upcoming Confederations Cup.
Luiz Felipe Scolari suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of England during his first game back in charge of Brazil in February.
Hodgson has included Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney, who scored against Brazil at Wembley, in his squad and recalled West Ham striker Andy Carroll.
Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy was called up for the first time, while Three Lions captain Steven Gerrard is set to undergo shoulder surgery so misses the end-of-season friendly.
Meanwhile, Deschamps recalled Manchester City´s Samir Nasri to the France squad for the first time since Euro 2012 but Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery was omitted due to the winger´s upcoming Champions League and DFB-Pokal finals with Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart.
Elsewhere, Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala and Saint-Etienne midfielder Joshua Guilavogui were both called upon by their country for the first time, while Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra was left out.
England will also face the Republic of Ireland, while France are set to take on South Americans Uruguay.
