TuttoMercatoWeb claims that negotiations have unexpectedly advanced quickly and that Júlio César is now close to Roma.

Júlio César eventually admitted that he would not rule out a move to Italian football as he is knows the language and the league, also adding that Rome is a beautiful city.

The goalkeeper shone in Brazil´s 2-1 win against Uruguay for the Confederations Cup, and was elected the man of the match as he saved a penalty taken by Forlán.

His future will most likely be decided after the competition is over, Brazil will face Spain or Italy in the final on Sunday.

Catania in talks with Flamengo’s Adryan – Reports

Serie A club Catania have confirmed that they are in the process of trying to sign attacking midfielder Adryan from Flamengo.

The Catania president, Antonino Pulvirenti, confirmed the reports in a story covered by Lance!, but admitted that his club would have to sell before they can buy.

"It´s true, we like Adryan and are tracking him, but first we have got to sell someone," he said.

Having previously had an offer turned down by Flamengo, Catania seem determined to get their man by selling players to raise funds and match Flamengo’s asking price.

18-year-old Adryan has only made a couple of substitute appearances for his club in the Brazilian league this season, and has been replaced in the side of late by another young star Rafninha.

The player has represented Brazil at U-17 and U-20 level, and has been linked with a number of European clubs in the past, including Manchester United.

Santos sign Ponte Preta´s right-back Cicinho

Ponte Preta´s right Cicinho has joined Santos, he will sign a five-year contract once he passes the medical.

Cicinho had previously attracted interest from São Paulo, but the Tricolor could not reach an agreement with Ponte Preta.

He is the first signing since Neymar left the club to join Barcelona, Felipe Anderson is also leaving Santos after they accepted an offer from Lazio.

Santos are also interested in Universidad de Chile´s player Eugenio Mena, as besides experienced Léo, the only other left-backs are youngsters such as Emerson and Paulo Henrique.

The club are also in talks with Newell´s Old Boys manager Gerardo Martino, as the negotiation with Marcelo Bielsa has fallen through.

Martino is expected to decide soon, but he will only start working at the club after Newell´s participation in Copa Libertadores is over, which might happen as late as late July.

´Juanfer´ Quintero, the Falcao of Colombia´s U-20 team

"Goal! A tremendous Quintero left-footed bomb from the side of the box," Falcao himself wrote on his official Twitter account during the U-20 World Cup game, celebrating like a fan the goal that ended up being the winner.

Quintero garnered praise during and after the game. ´Juanfer´ moved the ball well, knew how to find open spaces and was always looking to score. Only the prowess of goalkeeper Aykut Özer prevented the Colombian from scoring more.

Quintero´s goal was also one of the most beautiful so far this tournament. He received a pass from Andrés Rentería in the front of the box, steadied himself for the shot and with his left foot put the ball into the net.

Quintero wants to win this U-20 World Cup, something Falcao himself was unable to do.

Quintero led his team in qualifying for the World Cup scoring five goals , only one behind top scorer of the tournament, Uruguay´s Nicolás López.

Quintero started off in Colombia with club Envigado and then moved to Atlético Nacional, his springboard for jumping to European football. In 2012 he joined Italian club Pescara, where he has played the last few months getting experience in Serie A, one of the most demanding leagues for a striker.

His name has been bandied about in recent months by important clubs including Porto, where Falcao made a name for himself. However it appears Italian club Genoa has the inside track.

But the immediate challenge for Quintero and the rest of Carlos Alberto Restrepo´s boys is to get a good result in this U-20 World Cup. Colombia´s best ever result in a U-20 WC was in 2003 where they placed third under the direction of coach Reinaldo Rueda

Beenhakker, Hart take reigns in T&T

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad -- Leo Beenhakker, who guided Trinidad & Tobago to its only World Cup appearance in 2006, has been named the Soca Warriors´ director of football, and former Canada national coach Stephen Hart has been hired as national team coach, the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association announced on Tuesday.

Hart agreed to a two-year contract, while Beenhakker is finalizing his pact. It will be more than two months and will last beyond the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the association said.

"I have made it a point from the moment of my election as the president of this organization six months ago, to take this organization into a new direction to enable the public to fall in love with football once again," TTFA president Raymond Tim Kee said. "Enlisting the expertise of both Mr. Beenhakker and Mr. Hart marks a highpoint that will yield substantial long-term benefits for T&T football."

Beenhakker, who coached Real Madrid and the Netherlands, returns to the Caribbean side with a wealth of experience and goodwill because the Soca Warriors reached their first and only World Cup with the Dutch native in charge of the national team. He is expected to arrive in T&T the final week of this month.

The 70-year-old will be charged to help shape the brand of TTFA national team programs, mentor and advise T&T national team coaches, and provide a long-term structure in the way TTFA national teams operate. Beenhakker also will observe the T&T CONCACAF Gold Cup pool at a training camp, plus accompany the team to the U.S. as part of its delegation.

"The approach taken by the TTFA establishes a long-term and substantive strategy that will positively impact the structure of the national programs while at the same time establishes an excellent head coach in Mr. Hart for some time to come," Beenhakker said.

Hart, a native of San Fernando, Trinidad, began his playing career in T&T and built his post-playing career in Canada through the Canadian Soccer Association within its coaching and development ranks.

The 53-year-old guided Canada to a 20-10-15 record during his three-year tenure and is expected to arrive in Trinidad prior to the June 23 training report date. Hart said he would like to retain former head coach Hutson Charles, as well as several other current staff members, and will meet with the former technical staff upon his arrival.

"I would like to make the transition as smooth as possible especially this close to the Gold Cup," Hart said. "I´ve had the opportunity to speak with Hutson and we are of the same accord in our approach to how the upcoming training camp will be organized."

Dortmund keeping tabs on Mario Fernandes

Borussia Dortmund are pondering a summer move for CSKA Moscow defender Mario Fernandes, according to Izvestia.

The Bundesliga champions want to sign a new right-sided defender to provide competition for Lukasz Piszczek and have made the Brazilian full-back their number one target.

They even attempted to purchase the player during the January transfer window, but CSKA Moscow officials decided to postpone negotiations for next summer.

CSKA director of public relations Sergei Aksenov is adamant there have been no official proposals for the talented defender, but states that any offers will be considered.

“The interest in Fernandes does not surprise us, but so far we have received no concrete proposals,” Aksenov told Izvestia.

“I can assure you that in case such proposals do arrive, they will be considered by the club.”

Mario Fernandes, 22, only joined CSKA Moscow last summer, but has already done enough to attract attention of top European clubs.

He has made the right-back position his own, making 18 Russian Premier League appearances for the club.

The Brazilian defender has a contract until June 2017 at CSKA, but it appears he won’t be staying in Moscow for much longer.

Seleção "star" (edit FAS) David Luiz hails ´complete´ Paulinho

Seleção star David Luiz says Paulinho would be a big success in England as the Corinthians star continues to be linked to Tottenham.

Paulinho grabbed the winner in a 2-1 win over Uruguay as Brazil advance to the Confederations Cup final and Luiz says they are improving all the time.

"Paulinho is a fantastic player, both defending and attacking. He is complete, so he can come to England. It´s a great moment for him."

Luiz also feels the squad are continuing to improve as they advance in the tournament as they prepare to face either Spain or Italy in the final.

"It´s growing game-by-game but sometimes you cannot play the game you want with a lot of opportunities and a lot of possession," Luiz explained.

"But that´s why the Brazilian team is now more mature, because it can play open games or games like today, which was a very different game.

"I think Uruguay did a great job with two lines deep so you can´t create a lot of opportunities to score but the team has matured well.

"It´s a dream come true [to reach the final]. I think it is a special moment for us, but we want to win.

"I am so happy because I can play a final with Brazil in the Maracana. Whether we play against Spain or Italy, it will be a difficult game for us."

Uruguay gets their first victory against New Zealand (2-0) at the U-20 World Cup

http://www.youtube.com/w…-7nbbPkSQP8

The Uruguayan U-20 team, who had lost in the opener against Croatia (1-0), rebounded on Wednesday with a victory in their second match against New Zealand (2-0) getting their first points and taking an important step in the fight for the knockout stages.

In Group F, Uruguay now has 3 points, while the ´All Whites´, who had already lost the first match 3-0 to Uzbekistan, are bringing up the rear with zero points. This Wednesday, also in Bursa, the Croats and Uzbeks face off to see who will be leader of the group.

The match started early for Uruguay with a Giorgian De Arrascaeta (4) free-kick goal. Nicolás López got the second goal in the 74th minute. López was the top scorer at the last Sudamericano with six goals.
López´s input was key but at times the Uruguayan team as a whole slowed down although they were clearly superior to a New Zealand team that really had no dangerous attempts at goal.

Uruguay also avenged a 1-1 draw against New Zealand suffered in last year´s tournament in Colombia in the first stage in which they were surprisingly eliminated.

The South American team also broke a particular curse in the U-20 to representatives of the Confederation of Oceania (OFC), since in the other time that they faced a team from that region, in the 1993 quarterfinals, they lost 2 -1 to Australia, which was then in the OFC and had not yet changed over to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
