Quilmes: presentaron al DT N. Vivas

BUENOS AIRES -- El flamante entrenador de Quilmes, Nelson Vivas, aseguró este jueves que pretende un equipo de "sangre caliente", al ser presentado en la sede del conjunto cervecero por el presidente del club, el senador nacional Aníbal Fernández.

"La idea es un equipo que proponga, que nos identifique sobre todo con la idea que me identificaba a mí como jugador, con la sangre caliente", dijo Vivas al explicar qué es lo que quiere de su equipo.

El ex defensor del seleccionado argentino advirtió que trabajó "con un director técnico (Diego Simeone) que piensa el partido jugando la mayor parte del tiempo en campo rival" y destacó que intentará plasmar lo mismo en Quilmes.

Para Vivas, "Quilmes tiene un capital que es saber que es un equipo respetado" y eso debe aprovecharlo, para dejar atrás la pelea por la permanencia e ilusionarse con estar más arriba en la tabla de posiciones.

Feliz por la posibilidad que le brinda Quilmes de hacer su primera experiencia como técnico (fue ayudante de campo de Simeone en sus pasos por Estudiantes de La Plata y River), Vivas consideró que es el premio a "haber sabido esperar".

"Estuvimos un largo tiempo sin trabajar, viendo que muchos chicos con las mismas intenciones lo conseguían. En alguna oportunidad me preguntaron sobre Quilmes y yo lo sentía. Inicié mi carrera como jugador acá y sentía que podía ser acá como técnico", concluyó Vivas.

El flamante entrenador estará acompañado por Andrés Guglielminpietro, como ayudante de campo, Martín Solé como preparador físico y César Velásquez entrenador de arqueros.

Luego llegó el turno de Fernández, quien no dejó dudas sobre cuál es su deseo en relación con la llegada de Vivas: "Si la suerte nos acompaña, que sea el (Alex) Ferguson de Quilmes", ironizó el ex jefe de Gabinete de la Nación.

"Es un hombre de la familia, forma parte de la estructura de nuestro club y hoy vuelve a acompañarnos", destacó Fernández.

Más tarde se tomó unos minutos para aleccionar a los periodistas que presenciaban la conferencia de prensa con respecto a las versiones que dan cuenta del posible arribo de refuerzos. "Les ruego que no empiecen con los inventos. Esto no va tanto para los medios nacional, sino para muchos locales. Dejen de joder un poquito. Colaboren un poquito, no es buena la franela de que ponen y sacan", remarcó el titular cervecero.

Sobre la posibilidad de que Martín Cauteruccio se vaya del club, Fernández contestó tajante: "Háganse a la cabeza de que Martín se va a ir, cuando aparezca alguien que ponga la plata viva arriba del escritorio".

Eder Alvarez Balanta está "tranquilo"

BUENOS AIRES -- Ajeno a los rumores, el defensor colombiano Eder Alvarez Balanta dijo estar "tranquilo" ante la firme posibilidad de que River lo venda al fútbol europeo y remarcó que "hasta el momento" sólo tiene "comentarios" al respecto.

En tanto, el presidente de River, Daniel Passarella, quien iba a viajar este jueves a Francia para intentar negociar el pase del marcador central de 20 años, postergó su partida para mañana.

De vacaciones en Bogotá, Alvarez Balanta se mostró más que conforme con el subcampeonato conseguido por River en el torneo Final al expresar que lograron "cosas importantes que por ahí no son tan valoradas porque lo ideal es ganar el campeonato".

"Hay muchas cosas positivas que rescatar de este torneo. Fuimos evolucionando, agarrando la idea de juego. Por ahí lo que pasa es que es muy poco tiempo de trabajo para tener grandes frutos", comentó, sensato, la revelación que tuvo River en el torneo.

Sus destacadas actuaciones en la mayoría de los nueve partidos que jugó, en los que hizo dos goles, despertaron el interés de varios clubes europeos por él: Mónaco, Olympique de Lyon y Udinese.

El Mónaco parece ser el club que está más interesado en quedarse con el pase de Alvarez Balanta, por quien Passarella ya dijo que pretende al menos catorce millones de euros. "Por el momento yo estoy tranquilo. Hasta el momento son comentarios, hasta que no sea una realidad, no tengo que pensar en eso", dijo el colombiano en diálogo con radio Cooperativa.

Por otro lado, se mostró feliz por haber tenido "la oportunidad y el privilegio de debutar en un momento donde no lo esperaba" y dijo estar "sorprendido por el apoyo de los hinchas de River".

"Las cosas se dieron para bien y el balance es muy positivo. Me llena de tranquilidad tener el respaldo del cuerpo técnico y de mis compañeros, además del cariño de la gente", agregó.

Barcelona prepare transfer bid for Marquinhos – reports

After securing the services of Neymar to boost their attack, Barcelona are now looking to go Brazilian again to help bolster their defence, as they attempt to sign Marquinhos from Roma.

Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that the Catalan club are preparing a bid of up to €28 million for the 19-year-old centre back.

Roma are thought to want much more for their young star, however, and are said to value their player at something closer to €40 million.

Barcelona could attempt to sweeten any deal by including Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez in any future offers.

"No le veo sentido a esta Superfinal"

ROSARIO -- Gerardo Martino, técnico de Newell´s, campeón del Torneo Final, aseguró que no le ve "mucho sentido" a jugar una Superfinal contra Vélez, campeón del Inicial, partido que disputarán este sábado en Mendoza.

"No me parece lógico que se juegue esta final. No conozco un campeonato en el mundo en el que haya tres campeones en un año, es medio raro", señaló Martino, que dejará su cargo una vez que el equipo termine su participación en la Copa Libertadores y será reemplazado por Alfredo Berti.

Para Martino, "no es una situación cómoda tener que definir un título tan cerca de las semifinales de la Copa".

Newell`s jugará el miércoles próximo el partido de ida contra el Atlético Mineiro de Brasil, apenas cuatro días después de la Súper Final en el estadio Malvinas Argentinas de Mendoza (desde las 18, por la TV Pública).

"Vamos a ir con lo mejor que tenemos para jugar con Vélez", aclaró Martino en rueda de prensa.

"La parte económica en la Superfinal hay que tenerla en cuenta. Lo de la estrella no tanto", agregó.

"La parte más motivadora es jugar la Libertadores y nosotros ya lo tenemos. Creo que los que organizan, deberían ponerse en la piel de los que juegan", reclamó el DT.

"Si ganamos, seremos halagados. Si perdemos, vienen los cuestionamientos de por qué pusimos titulares", adelantó Martino.

Con respecto al futuro del equipo rosarino, el entrenador consideró que "Berti es un hombre del club. Ya hizo algunos trabajos junto a nosotros. Mientras más jugadores sigan, más posibilidades va a tener Alfredo de hacer las cosas bien".

"El contrato de (Gabriel) Heinze creo que estaba arreglado, lo de (Santiago) Vergini encaminado y faltaba un poco para solucionar lo de Nacho (Scocco). Lo fundamental es que Newell`s pueda mantener la mayoría de sus jugadores", concluyó Martino

Vélez: Cubero, por Peruzzi o por Bella

BUENOS AIRES -- El entrenador de Vélez, Ricardo Gareca, mantiene una duda para enfrentar a Newell´s en la Superfinal que se jugará el sábado en Mendoza, y pasa por saber quién dejará el equipo para el ingreso de Fabián Cubero, recuperado de una lesión.

Con el capitán del equipo a disposición, tras haberse recuperado de una inflamación en la rodilla derecha, lo que debe definir Gareca es si Peruzzi se adelanta hasta el mediocampo y quien deja el equipo es Iván Bella, o si Bella se mantiene entre los once y el que deja su lugar es Peruzzi.

Otra alternativa posible, aunque con menos chances que las anteriores, es que Cubero ingrese por Fernando Tobio y haga dupla en la zaga junto a Sebastián Domínguez.

El único cambio seguro en relación con el equipo que le ganó 2-1 a Atlético de Rafaela es el regreso a la titularidad de Facundo Ferreyra, que ingresará por Ezequiel Rescaldani, autor de los dos goles ante el conjunto santafesino.

Así, el equipo que elegiría Gareca para enfrentar a Newell´s el sábado a las 18 formaría con: Sebastián Sosa; Cubero, Tobio, Domínguez, Emiliano Papa; Gino Peruzzi o Iván Bella, Franco Razzotti, Fernando Gago; Federico Insúa; Lucas Pratto y Ferreyra.

Por su parte, Peruzzi fue contundente al evaluar la importancia que tiene para Vélez la Superfinal. "Nosotros nos jugamos muchísimo, nos jugamos la entrada a la Copa (Libertadores), es una estrella más, es una final, y el que gane el sábado va a ser el mejor del año", destacó Peruzzi en una entrevista.

Y luego añadió: "Vamos a dejar todo el sábado para terminar bien el semestre".

Según reconoció el propio futbolista, el Sunderland inglés envió una oferta formal a Vélez para contratarlo, aunque aseguró que tiene "la cabeza puesta en Newell´s" y "después se verá".

Angelici y el momento de Boca

BUENOS AIRES -- "Cuando las cosas no salen bien la responsabilidad es de todos. Dirigentes, cuerpo técnico y jugadores", asumió el presidente de Boca, Daniel Angelici en "Hablemos de Fútbol", sobre el mal semestre y admitió que sin Carlos Bianchi, se tendrían que haber ido todos, tras el 1-6 ante San Martín.

Además, en la charla con la mesa futbolera que reprodujo "La Oral Deprotiva Extra" en ESPN Radio en Rivadavia, el dirigente habló sobre los posibles refuerzos, Emmanuel Gigliotti, Daniel Díaz y Fernando Gago. Además, asegurar que la salida de Clemente Rodríguez fue una decisión del club.

"Enviamos una carta al representante de Gigliotti. La ventaja es que el jugador quiere estar en el club cuando hay buena voluntad de ambas partes se resuelve todo más rápido", contó sobre el delantero de Colón, sobre quien Carlos Bianchi ya había reconocido su interés. Y el goleador rechazó un pase al Pumas mexicano.

También dijo que hablaron con Cata Díaz -actualmente en Atlético Madrid - y con su representante. "Bianchi también habló con el jugador y le manifestó su voluntad de venir a Boca".

"Queremos ser muy respetuosos con (Fernando) Gago -hoy cedido en Vélez-. Después del partido del sábado -por la Súper Final - vamos a entrar en contacto con el club que tiene sus derechos federativos".

"Bianchi sabía que tomaba un gran desafío al volver a Boca. Tiene todo el respaldo de los hinchas. Estamos en permanente contacto y está al tanto de cómo avanzan las negociaciones con los jugadores", Angelici concluyó el tema de los probables refuerzos para lo que viene.

Por otra parte, Daniel Angelici hizo autocrítica y balance del primer semestre de Boca. "Hicimos un muy mal campeonato y sabemos que estamos en deuda con la gente. A nadie le gusta verse en el final de la tabla. Con cualquier otro técnico sin la espalda y la historia que tiene Carlos nos teníamos que haber ido en helicóptero de San Juan cuando perdimos 6 a 1", reconoció en ESPN Radio.

"Bianchi tiene muchísima capacidad, no creo que sienta presión pero sabe que se hizo un mal campeonato. Estamos muy confiados que va a revertir esto. Tiene todo el apoyo de la comisión directica y los verdaderos dueños del club que son los socios".

"Tuvimos una mala racha de lesionados. Haciendo una buena pretemporada y sin lesiones estamos para pelear el torneo", intentó atenuar el titular xeneize.

"Si algún jugador no va a ser tenido en cuenta prefiero que salga a préstamo a algún club para que tenga continuidad".

Y reconoció que "la decisión de (la salida de) Clemente (Rodríguez) la tomó el club". El lateral se fue al Sao Paulo, pese a que deseaba quedarse.

Además, defendió el nivel de Juan Román Riquelme e intentó descartar las divisiones del plantel y la influencia del enganche como un factor que aportó al mal desempeño del equipo.

"Riquelme es el último ídolo del club. Tiene un gran respaldo. Es distinto y cuando está bien marca la diferencia. Hoy decidió volver. Siempre dije que tenía las puertas abiertas y tenía contrato en vigencia. A cualquier entrenador estando bien lo quiere a Román dentro de la cancha".


"Lo que pasa en el vestuario tiene que quedar ahí. Siempre hay afinidades y diferencias, pero hay que resolverlo dentro del club. Este mismo plantel salió campeón invicto y también había diferencia. Cuando las cosas no salen bien la responsabilidad es de todos. Dirigentes, cuerpo técnico y jugadores".

"Es el cuerpo técnico quien decide si Román está bien para jugar o no. El vestuario no es lugar de los dirigentes".

Angelici también se refirió a la situación de sus arqueros "de selección". "(Oscar) Ustari es un gran profesional y gran persona. Tenemos dos arqueros de Selección. Se viene el mundial y los dos aspiran a llegar. Ustari va a apuntar a la continuidad y poder jugar para poder mostrarse. Por (Agustín) Orion no tuvimos ofertas".

Finalmente, habló de Carlos Tevez, de quien siempre se habla de su posible regreso, aunque ahora acaba de sumarse a la Juventus. "Siempre tuvimos muy buena relación con Tevez. Hace 10 días estuve cenando con él. Boca es su casa y siempre soñamos con que venga a terminar su carrera acá".

Evaluating Big Phil´s Brazil

For a country which partying is as famous as football, you would hardly expect the national football team to show up in friendly matches. A string of below-par performance has raised the question whether Luis Scolari is the man to lead Brazil. His glorious moments in World Cup 2002 have got him the job, but have also brought himself enormous pressure.

The Confederation Cup is the only competitive tournament, first in two, that Scolari can re-evaluate his squad selection with before the World Cup in home soil. It would be no surprise the majority of the 23 men selected for this World Cup rehearsal tournament will form the backbone of the Brazil squad next year. Not a very good news to Kaka, Ronaldinho, Robinho and Willian though.

4-2-3-1 has become a trend in modern football that Scolari can only resist in replicating the 3-4-2-1 formation which earned him the trophy in Asia. In truth, there are not enough Brazilian defenders in this generation that possess the sense of positioning to play a 3-men defensive line, not to mention the lack of sophisticated defensive midfielders comparable to Dunga, Sampaio, Emerson or Gilberto Silva to protect the backline.

It is rare to see two centrebacks constantly switching positions during a match – with David Luiz’s undying urge to surge forward and reappearing wherever he wants. Thiago Silva’s class is one of the answers that the constant switching works, so far, and the other reason is the lack of genuine threats. With Brazil bagging two wins from two uneventful matches, Italy await the Samba boys and more precisely, Balotelli will be a useful assessment of David Luiz’s true ability to succeed Lucio as a commanding, reliable and aggressive centreback he has self-portrayed as.

More than often, it is the Brazilian attack that creates a buzz. Their ability to score freely has historically made the susceptible defence less of a problem, but the quality and talents of the current attackers are still in doubt.

Neymar is surely an exception. Already being captured by Barcelona this offseason, the 21-year-old has scored two spectacular volleys with both feet and has been orchestrating the team’s attacks. If Ronaldinho wonders why he is unlikely to represent his nation again, Neymar is the answer. With Brazil trying to build the team around Neymar, Ronaldinho never looks comfortable playing as a secondary playmaker.

Neymar is shining, so is Fred. Nevertheless, his incredible goalscoring form only earns more hesitation and questioning over his suitability in the young Brazilian side. Never the most mobile striker, Fred offers physicality and clinical finishing, but strangely there is limited appreciation over a striker who can score.

If one doubts Fred´s age, Leandro Damiao and Jo are the alternatives, though yet to be proven on the big stage. Whoever is getting that spot will likely to be a shadow striker providing shielding to the more creative bunch behind him.

This is the area where Scolari is desperate to get it right, especially when he is not short of options. Lucas Moura is clearly a fan favourite. Although having spent more time on the bench, he still shows up as an impact substitution playing on the right.

With Hulk cementing a starting position on the right wing, Oscar is pushed to the central playmaker role, a position which he is competent in but not yet adapted to, having been employed at the flanks in Chelsea all season long. With Paulinho more used to playing a more attacking role, Oscar is drawn into more defensive action then he would like to. After such a long season, the youngster still shows glimpses of brilliance, but Brazil would need him to be much sharper than this.

This brings up another question. Why Hulk? His left foot can be exceptional and he was stellar back in the time with Porto, but his performance in the yellow shirt is just as horrendous as his season in Zenit. Lack of vision and poor decision-making of Hulk has destroyed Brazil´s counter attacks numerous times. His ability to finish is equally poor.

If set piece is the reason he is in the starting line-up, sadly he hasn´t yet delivered too. Those were the days when Scolari had free-kick options among Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho and Kaka. Now, maybe there is only Neymar.

With the midfield looking short in stability and solidity, Brazil will benefit without Hulk. Sandro, if fit, is anticipated to be the primary defensive midfielder, unless Luis Gustavo´s raw talents will quickly be matured. Paulinho, Fernandinho, Hernanes, Ramires, Anderson and, don´t forget Ganso, are all candidates for the central midfield role.

Being blessed with an excellent mix of midfield talents, Brazil can easily line up three midfielders, with both Paulinho and Fernandinho capable to play a more advanced role, and send Oscar or Lucas Moura to the right, while maintaining the gunfire in attack.

The key to triumph in a tournament is consistency, something Scolari´s side has been failing to demonstrate. When anything less than a Confederation Cup final appearance equals failure, slacking against Italy is something Scolari could not afford. His talented squad has to learn to be a champion in order to secure Big Phil´s place on the bench in 2014.

Neymar: An unpolished jewel?

A justified 57 million price tag?

Since Guardiola’s appointment in 2008, Barcelona started playing a divine type of football that put them on top of world football for several years, achieving many titles and breaking numerous records in the process. Some called it “Total football”, others labeled it “Tiki-taka”, but what was clearly obvious is that Pep endorsed Arrigo Sacchi’s claims that the next tactical revolution in the game (after his 1990’s Milan) would be the conversion of the pitch into a midfield area. What did he mean? A fluid, expressive, and proactive system that focuses on team work, off-ball movement, exploiting spaces, aggressive and collective pressure, positional interchange, specialists elimination and quick passing. A team that attacks as a unit, and defends as a unit, while building up play from the back. Watching such a system is a pleasure, but fitting in it is a whole other matter. Many players simply failed to grasp this philosophy, while others refused to sacrifice their individual capabilities to integrate into the team. If one thing is certain about Barcelona’s football, it is the fact that no matter how successful or talented a player is, by no means his fitting into the system is guaranteed. Will Neymar be an exception?

When it comes to Brazilian players, Barcelona has something of a bad history. Sonny Anderson, Geovanni, Henrique, Keirrison, Giovanni, and Rochemback, all came, saw, but did not conquer. If this indicates one thing, it is that non-European signings should only be completed after thorough analysis, and meticulous monitoring. Due to the major differences between European and South American leagues, a large portion of Brazilian imports choose to ply their trades at relatively small European leagues before stepping up to the big stage. Romario, Ronaldo, Vampeta, Matuzalem, Fernandinho, Alex, David Luiz, Ramires, and Ronaldinho are some of the players that comprehended Europe’s challenging football in less demanding leagues before making moves to big clubs. Neymar did not take that path, and whether his magic will enable him to skip classes in his trip to the summit of world football remains to be seen. Club Icon Johan Cruyff rang the alarm bell upon Neymar’s arrival, clearly stating that putting two captains on a ship might result in the sinking of the ship. Cruyff’s explanation was that Neymar’s superior attributes do not guarantee his success in a hard-to-comprehend system, and given his hefty price he might not be afforded the required time to smoothly integrate into the team.

Before delving into the names of transfer targets, the most reasonable thing to do is build a profile for the type of player needed to plug a certain hole in the team. To further illustrate, Tito is in search of a quick, tall defender with good passing skills to complement Pique. That’s why Zubizaretta is fighting tooth and nail to acquire David Luiz, or Thiago Silva, and that is the exact reason why he passed the chance to sign Hummels, a static, slow defender with below-average passing skills. The profile required for our defender fits the two Brazilians but does not do the same with the on-form German. The same goes for our attacking search. But was Neymar signed according to similar methodical approach? Will he benefit our system more than a Rooney or Cavani-type of player? With the availability of Pedro, Alexis, Tello, and now Deulofeu, are dribbling skills required more than work rate? Is creativity sought after more than penalty box killer instinct?

As of June 2012, Barcelona’s net debt was approximately 320 million Euros. Given Europe’s critical economic situation, the board should definitely keep the club’s debt at the forefront of their strategic planning, but at the same time make sure to differentiate sporting matters from economical issues, in order to maintain the great heights the club has reached since 2008. Working tirelessly but separately on both matters is a guaranteed success on both fronts, while any miscalculation or mix up will hinder the club’s progress. There is no doubt that his arrival will boost shirt sales, enhance our global image, and more than make up for the 57 million paid for his signature. Voted the most marketable athlete on the planet, ahead of Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, he already boasts more than 10 sponsorship deals that will benefit the club in one way or the other. Neymar’s commercial value is already meteoric, and will only rise after wearing the blaugrana colors. However, removing his arrival from the commercial context and putting it in a pure football perspective, leaves big unanswered questions.

The basic cog in Barcelona’s Total football is the team working as a unit, and finding the perfect equilibrium that enables individuals to showcase their strengths and adequately contribute to the team’s performance. One, two, or three new defenders won’t fix our defensive problems, and signing several quality attackers won’t solve our attacking difficulties. The system in which these individuals will function is the most important thing. If the system if broken then whomever we sign will not change the outcome. Our Total football ensures that individual mistakes are covered by collective efforts such as aggressive pressing. When one player fails, the unit makes up for his shortcomings and the team triumphs. But when individual errors tend to appear more, that means that the collective team effort is not up to covering these individual mistakes, thus condemning the team to inevitable failure. To simplify things, Guardiola’s Barcelona managed to win a historical number of titles with almost the same defense we have now. He even won the champions league final with a make-shift defense, that’s simply because individual shortcomings, no matter who is absent, were always covered by collective efforts. Was that the case this season? That said, we should carefully identify and acknowledge that signings alone will not solve our problems, our system should be put under close scrutiny in order to rectify previous blunders. After all, a broken system not only exposes individuals, it also has deadly symptoms, such as the-now-infamous “Messidependencia”. Tito should go back to the basics of Total football and do his homework before determining who should be signed before big questions start to haunt him, questions such as: does Neymar fit into the system?

In terms of style, the closest thing to a Neymar is a Ronaldinho. And when Ronaldinho arrived at Barcelona, he was tested for two seasons in the French league. Neymar is arriving as a raw talent, fresh from the South American market. His exquisite talent is not a guarantee for success. Marketing aside, many factors will shape his career at Barcelona, and only time will tell whether he was a justifiable acquisition.

"El 70% quería que yo descienda"

BUENOS AIRES -- "El 70 por ciento del mundo del fútbol quería que descendiera, pero a pesar de eso ahora no estoy buscando que digan que les tapé la boca a todos", enfatizó Ricardo Caruso Lombardi, el entrenador de Argentinos Juniors, en una entrevista con el programa radial Deportivo Télam.

"Un amigo me contó que el domingo estaba en un club mirando el partido que le ganamos a Newell´s junto a un centenar de personas, y el 95 por ciento quería que nos fuéramos al descenso porque decían que yo era un bocón, un charlatán", ejemplificó.

Sin embargo el ex técnico de Racing, Newell`s, San Lorenzo, Tigre y All Boys, entre otros, aseguró que en sus "21 años de carrera como técnico" siempre habló, "pero como muchos de ellos fueron dirigiendo equipos del ascenso, entonces tenía menos repercusión".

"Pero cuando yo me enredo en una polémica con alguien, lo hago porque algo de esa persona sé, así que nunca me va a dejar descolocado. Y si veo que corro ese riesgo, piso el freno", apuntó.

"Por eso hay mucha gente que no me busca la lengua, ya que sabe que conmigo pierde", remarcó.

En el mismo sentido Caruso Lombardi dirigió sus cañones "a todos aquellos que siempre buscaron excusas para no decir que Argentinos Juniors jugó bien en la última etapa del campeonato".

"Siempre decían que Estudiantes jugó desmotivado, o que San Lorenzo tuvo una mala tarde, pero nunca que nosotros habíamos sido superiores o habíamos realizado un buen partido", cuestionó.

"En esta historia a veces hay que tener un poco de suerte, pero también ser coherente en el trabajo y como ser humano hacer todo lo posible por conseguir el objetivo propuesto. Yo estuve peleando el descenso en siete oportunidades y solamente me fui una vez al descenso, con Quilmes, cuando también hubo algunas cosas raras", argumentó.

El técnico del "Bicho" sostuvo que "mucha gente" le dijo que Independiente lo "buscaba en marzo pasado, cuando estaba sin trabajo. Nunca me llamó ningún dirigente, pero si lo hubiesen hecho, habría agarrado. Eso no tiene nada que ver con el hecho de haber dirigido a Racing".

"No sé si Independiente se hubiera salvado conmigo. Por lo pronto ahora estoy abocado al futuro de Argentinos Juniors, ya que sé que tendremos refuerzos, pero desconozco si hay plata como para traer a los que pretendo", explicó.

"El presidente, Luis Segura, estaba dudando de su continuidad, pero independientemente de eso yo voy a seguir, porque tengo un año más de contrato con el club", advirtió.

Sobre la llegada de su colega Julio Falcioni al clásico rival, All Boys, admitió que lo "sorprendió, sobre todo porque viene de Boca. Pero también sé que está atravesando algunos problemas personales que le impiden alejarse de Buenos Aires. A mí me pasó lo mismo cuando me convocó Unión. No podía irme a Santa Fe".

"Después, que por ahí le lleguen refuerzos importantes a All Boys después que se fue José Romero, no debería molestarle a `Pepe`, porque estuvo seis años allí y él, como todos, sabemos que en el fútbol las cosas son así. A mí me ocurrió también algo similar en Racing. Conmigo no trajeron a nadie y después que me fui llegaron Giovanni Moreno y Teófilo Gutiérrez", comparó.

"Lo que pasa es que a veces hay muchos encasillamientos que no corresponden. De mí dicen que me gustan los jugadores altos y que prefiero jugar con futbolistas experimentados, pero ahora con Argentinos nos salvamos con cinco petisos y mayoría de pibes. Yo me adapto a lo que hay", puntualizó.

Para el final Caruso Lombardi dejó algunos vaticinios como el referido al delantero Emmanuel Gigliotti, del que dijo que "va a triunfar en Boca. Lo conozco muy bien porque yo lo llevé en 2007 de General Lamadrid a Argentinos Juniors. Y en San Lorenzo, conmigo hizo ocho goles. Lo que pasó fue que antes, con Leonardo Madelón, estaba tapado".

"Y a propósito de San Lorenzo, lo que dije de Juan Antonio Pizzi firmando contrato con el club cuando yo todavía estaba en funciones, nunca me pasó en ningún lado ni lo hice con nadie. Eso no es lo correcto ni tampoco lo habitual en el fútbol", destacó.

"Lo que pasa es que yo no digo nada que la gente no quiera escuchar. Y además hay periodistas que no dicen ciertas cosas porque temen perder su trabajo", concluyó.
