Fred amongst Manchester City transfer targets - reports
The Brazil striker Fred is attracting interest from Manchester City, as they look to bolster their attacking options for the coming season.
The 29-year-old forward who currently plays his club football for Fluminense, is seen as a possible replacement for the Argentine Carlos Tevez, who recently left the club to join Juventus.
The Daily Mail have reported that Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo is also being considered, whilst the Manchester Evening News reported that Alvaro Negredo of Sevilla is also on their list of targets.
Fred is thought to be a reasonably inexpensive option for Manchester City, at least when compared with some of their other signings, but there are concerns as to how well the Brazil number nine will adapt to the English league.
The 2011/12 Premier League champions currently have Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko as their main striking options, with promising young forward John Guidetti also hoping to feature in the forthcoming campaign.
The new manager Manuel Pellegrini is likely to add at least one more forward to his squad before the start of the season.
