Kaká set for another Madrid chance

Kaká is set for one last opportunity at Real Madrid after it is reported new manager Carlo Ancelotti is ready to give him the chance to prove his worth.

AS report, ahead of the Madrid returning for pre-season training tomorrow, that the Brazil international will be initially included in Ancelotti’s plans for the 2013-14 season.

Madrid had made the 31-year-old available for transfer in the past two transfer windows and the current one, but clubs have been unable to afford the player.

However, Ancelotti has reportedly told Los Blancos’ board of his intention to use the 31-year-old in his first team plans for next season, reports Football Espana.

The Italian, who worked with the Seleção midfielder in Milan, has also allegedly spoken to Kaka recently by phone, with a clear message with regards his future: "It just depends on you".

Kaká is expected to compete with Mesut Ozil and new signing Isco for a place in the Madrid line-up.

Uruguay won the Copa América 26 years ago

Argentina was celebrating their 100 years of independence in 1916 when Héctor R. Gómez proposed the creation of a continental entity to govern football. Hence CONMEBOL came into existence and with it the oldest football tournament in the world, the Copa América.

The 33rd edition of the Copa América was played in Argentina between June 27 and July 12 in 1987. That year marked what one could call the "re-conquering" of the Copa América as it returned to its original format of having only one country as the host.

The tournament was increasingly becoming a prestigious tournament and so for this edition in Argentina, journalists came from all over the world to cover it. The Copa was broadcast on television in Europe, North America and elsewhere.

The tournament was made up of 3 groups of 3 teams plus the last champion. The first three winners passed on to the semifinals. A fourth team was added who held the title from the previous competition. In this case it was Uruguay a they were the reigning champion from 1983 where they beat Brazil for the title.

Argentina was the host and the tournament was played in three cities: Buenos Aires, Rosario and Córdoba whose stadiums were also used in the 1978 World Cup.

Argentina used nearly all the members of the team that won the World Cup in Mexico in 1986. But it wasn´t enough to get beyond the semifinals.

Júlio Baptista’s Málaga future in doubt

Júlio Baptista’s future at Málaga is in doubt unless he is prepared to take a substantial pay cut.

The Brazilian forward is now the best paid player at La Rosaleda following the departures of Joaquin, Martin Demichelis, Jeremy Toulalan, Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal.

Baptista has been linked with a move back to his native country with Internacional and the club may look to offload him due to their new austerity policy

Málaga’s new coach Bernd Schuster said this week that he is hopeful they can come to an agreement with the 31-year-old, as reported on Football Espana.

The German said: "I don’t know if we can arrive at a solution so that Júlio stays. If we are talking about him as a footballer then I prefer he remains here as I know what he’s capable of.

"If he stays free of injury and gets some luck then he would be an important cog in our team as he possesses a lot of quality and is a model professional."

Baptista has been restricted to 29 league appearances since arriving from Roma in 2011 due to a string of serious injuries.
