El Madrid hará rectificar a Higuaín

´El Pipita´ se presentará mañana con el Madrid después de que no haya fructificado el interés de Juventus y Arsenal

El Real Madrid de Carlo Ancelotti echa a rodar mañana y lo hará con Gonzalo Higuaín como uno más de la plantilla. La ausencia de ofertas concretas y de un recambio de garantías en el mercado han acabado por cerrar la continuidad de un futbolista que nada más finalizar la final de la Copa del Rey, anunció que se iría.

Ese precipitado anuncio no sentó nada bien al presidente blanco, Florentino Pérez, y ha sido el mayor obstáculo a superar para que Higuaín se presente hoy con el equipo. El nuevo entrenador madridista, Carlo Ancelotti, ha sido clave para `archivar¿ el caso. El italiano considera al `Pipita¿ un delantero muy aprovechable en su proyecto, máxime teniendo en cuenta que no se ha encontrado una alternativa que mejorara al argentino. Así se lo hizo ver Ancelotti a Florentino, que ha aceptado mantener a Higuaín en la plantilla con la condición de que el argentino pida disculpas, públicamente, por haber proclamado a los cuatro vientos su voluntad de abandonar la disciplina merengue.

“El año pasado me quedé por el público, por el míster y por mis compañeros, pero este año he cambiado mi decisión. No es fruto de ninguna calentura ni por no haber ganado títulos. He tomado la decisión con mi familia”, aseguró Higuaín al concluir el pasado ejercicio. También su padre, Jorge, ha enturbiado el asunto con periódicas declaraciones en las que insistía en que el futuro de su hijo estaba fuera del Real Madrid.

La realidad, sin embargo, es que ni Juventus ni Arsenal se han acercado siquiera a esos 35 millones que exigía Florentino. El presidente blanco aseguró incluso la pasada semana que al club no había llegado ninguna oferta concreta por el delantero argentino. Tampoco ninguno de los dos clubs estaba dispuesto a asumir la ficha de siete millones netos anuales que pretendía percibir el futbolista. Así, con tres años de contrato por delante, Higuaín deberá ponerse a las órdenes de Ancelotti. Si fuera por Florentino, el `Pipita¿ no hubiera vuelto a vestir la camiseta del Real Madrid, pero el mercado no le ha puesto a tiro ninguna alternativa de suficiente nivel para dar el paso.

Eso sí, el tibio interés de Juventus y Arsenal por Higuaín, ha dejado al presidente madridista con la sartén por el mango. Florentino se dará el gustazo de ver cómo el delantero argentino comparece ante los medios de comunicación para rectificar públicamente y declarar su amor al Real Madrid.

Esa es la única condición para que Higuaín cumpla su octava temporada en el Bernabéu. El club ya ha programado esa rueda de prensa para la próxima semana. Aún no se sabe el día, pero Higuaín se enfrentará a los medios en la primera semana de trabajo, antes de que el equipo se vaya de gira. Por segundo verano consecutivo, el adiós del delantero argentino habrá quedado en un simple amago.

Grêmio loanee Eduardo Vargas wanted by Middlesbrough - reports

Grêmio loanee Eduardo Vargas has been linked with a move to England as Championship side Middlesbrough are reportedly interested in his services.

The 23-year-old forward joined the Porto Alegre-based side on a season-long loan for €1.9m in January, having failed to settle in at Napoli after leaving his native Chile.

But according to reports in England, Boro are looking to push through a deal for Vargas before their new season kicks off on August 3, which is expected to be another loan.

Grêmio´s director of football, Rui Costa, admitted last month that he was unsure whether Vargas would remain in Brazil, after Napoli appointed new coach Rafa Benitez, as there is a clause which allows his parent club to recall him at any point.

"We have not had a definitive answer from Naples," Costa told Gazzetta.it. "He has a contract with us until December, but may return to his club of origin. We must wait."

Therefore, Napoli may be interested in showcasing the young forward’s talents at Boro, with a view to securing a Premier League transfer in the future.

Vargas had a very successful career in his homeland, representing Cobreloa and Universidad de Chile, but failed to score during 19 Serie A appearances after an €11.5 million transfer, though he did net a hat-trick in the Europa League.

After sealing his loan switch, Vargas admitted: "I had a good career in Chile, now I want to repeat that in Brazil.

"I was not happy in Italy. I didn’t feel good on my debut and played badly, then I lost my confidence and was never able to play consistently."

The Chile international has proved a hit in Brazil, scoring four goals in 10 domestic appearances, including a brace against Botafogo on Sunday.

Vargas scored either side of a Clarence Seedorf strike during the first half at Grêmio Arena yesterday to knock the Fogão off top spot in the Brasileirão.

The Chile international, who has a one-in-three strike-rate at international level, was called up for a friendly against the Seleção in April and fired home a sensational long-range effort to steal a 2-2 draw at the Mineirão.

CBF president says Gallo could become next Brazil coach

CBF president José Maria Marin has revealed that Under-20 coach Alexandre Gallo could replace Luiz Felipe Scolari after the World Cup.

Gallo is the manager of Brazil´s under 20 national team and recently won the prestigious Toulon Tournament in France.

José Maria Marin told O Globo: "Scolari will stay regardless of any result, but if he has an offer and decides to leave, Gallo is my candidate [to replace him].

"I want to have Gallo and Parreira, but if Scolari stays, then it will be Scolari and Parreira. I don´t want to change anything, but if Scolari decides to leave in the future, then Gallo will be the national team manager."

Marin also praised Gallo, adding: "He had offers from big clubs, but he is committed to remain with us until the Olympics.

"I intend to make a committee or counciil, Scolari wouldn´t be the manager, but he would help Gallo the same say Gallo is helping him, but Gallo would be in charge."

QPR: No bids for Júlio César

Queens Park Rangers say they have not received any bids for goalkeeper Júlio César, despite mounting speculation over his future.

The Brazil international has been strongly linked with a move to Napoli in recent weeks, as well as Arsenal, Roma and Villareal, after the R’s relegation from the Premier League last season.

Speculation that César will leave Loftus Road has only intensified after his solid performances during the recent Confederations Cup with Brazil.

However, QPR chief executive Philip Beard has revealed they have not yet received any bids for the 33-year-old.

"There’s nothing firm," Beard told West London Sport. "He is Brazil’s number one goalkeeper, so I’m sure he’ll interest a lot of clubs as the season starts to get closer.

"We’ll look at what deals are on offer and if they’re right for us and the player.

"Having Brazil’s number one keeper in the Championship would be an interesting dynamic. We might see something happen."

The player´s agent, Josias Cardoso, expects him to return to Serie A with Napoli and provide competition to Morgan De Sanctis, but admitted a deal was far from done.

"It´s not all done yet the transfer], there are many possibilities, but there are some details to be resolved between the player and Napoli," Cardoso told calciomercato.it.

"When will the signature arrive? I don´t know, it could be today, or in a few days.

"The Villarreal interest? There has been some interest from Spain, but nothing concrete.

"The only two concrete tracks are Arsenal and Napoli."

Unión Española got its season off to a triumphant start last night with a comfortable 2-0 win over Universidad de Chile in the Supercopa. “La U’s” defeat comes at a time of crisis for the Santiago club as the match — a contest between last season’s league and Copa Chile winners — marked manager Darío Franco’s last game at the helm.

Española always looked in control of the match, taking full advantage of its opponent’s managerial problems. Goals in each half were enough to see off a “La U” side that rarely made chances of its own.

Striker Gustavo Canales opened the scoring in the 37th minute against his former club after Española was given the space to string together eight uncontested passes deep in Universidad de Chile’s half. When left-back Sebastián Miranda — recently returned from a stint with Chile’s Everton — finally put his in-swinging cross into the “La U” box, Canales was able to get ahead of the defender Roberto Cereceda to score with an easy, glancing header from close range.

The second goal came late in the second-half when midfielder Bryan Cortés conceded a penalty. Cortés, who has just signed for “La U” from Cobreloa, slid in to dispossess Sebastián Jaime on the edge of his area, catching the ball with his hand in the process.

Oscar Hernández took the penalty, and Johnny Herrera managed a strong save. Unfortunately for the goalkeeper, he pushed the ball onto the post and Hernandez was well poised to profit from the rebound.

As Unión Española gathered to raise the Supercopa trophy, Franco led his Universidad de Chile team away from the pitch for the last time.

Guillermo Burdisso se iría al Parma

BUENOS AIRES -- El defensor de Boca Guillermo Burdisso figura en los planes de Parma y podría marcharse esta semana a ese equipo italiano ya que, según trascendió, al jugador lo seduce la propuesta para regresar al fútbol del Viejo Continente.

Mientras tanto, en la entidad "xeneize" su entrenador, Carlos Bianchi, espera el arribo definitivo de Daniel "Cata" Díaz para reforzar la zaga central, uno de los sectores más cuestionados en el pasado Torneo Final.

Según informó en su edición online el diario deportivo italiano La Gazzetta dello Sport, Burdisso, que llegó hace sólo una temporada a Boca, es buscado por Parma para actuar al lado de su compatriota Gabriel Paletta en la zaga central.

"Hay interés por parte del jugador a la propuesta, espero que pueda ser discutida", señaló Bruno Carpeggiani, quien actuaría como intermediario en la operación que tiene chances de llevarse a cabo tras la negativa de Matías Silvestre, actualmente en Inter, de pasar a Parma.

Burdisso, quien anotó un gol en la victoria de Boca 2-1 ante Estudiantes el domingo en un amistoso, jugó dos partidos en Roma en la temporada 2010/2011 y luego regresó al país para jugar en Arsenal, donde fue campeón argentino.

Mientras tanto, además de esperar a "Cata" Díaz, en Boca aguardan también la incorporación de Emmanuel Gigliotti, a quien esperan mañana en el entrenamiento luego del día libre que disfrutó el plantel tras el triunfo ante el elenco platense.

Independiente quiere a Castillejos

BUENOS AIRES -- La dirigencia de Independiente, que trata de reforzar la ofensiva, apuntó al delantero de Barcelona de Ecuador Gonzalo Castillejos, al tiempo que fue ofrecido el atacante de Newell´s Old Boys Maximiliano Urruti.

De todos modos, Castillejos aclaró que "tanto Independiente como Huracán (otro equipo interesado) corren con las mismas chances de contratarme, pero para los clubes argentinos es difícil pagar en dólares. Dependo de lo que quiera el Barcelona de Ecuador".

Sin dudas que con la llegada de Menéndez como delantero la dirigencia de Independiente sólo dio un paso, ya que según lo que pidió el DT Miguel Angel Brindisi aún faltan tres puntas más.

Con este panorama y ante las dificultades para poder contar con Castillejos, toma fuerza nuevamente la posibilidad de sumar a Sebastián Penco, delantero de San Martín de San Juan, más la chance de incorporar a Maximiliano Urruti, actualmente suplente en Newell`s.

Brindisi pidió dos delanteros por afuera y dos por adentro, lo que obviamente puede sufrir modificaciones.

El representante de Urruti, Néstor Rozin, manifestó en Ahoradeportes: "Hay varias posibilidades que se están abriendo. Aunque es imposible que se vaya a préstamo, tiene que ser venta sí o sí", situación que limita la chance de Independiente.

Por otra parte, el plantel sigue de pretemporada en Salta, donde Brindisi prepara al equipo para afrontar el torneo de la Primera B Nacional, en el que Independiente debutará frente al recientemente ascendido Brown de Adrogué en el estadio Libertadores de América, el sábado 3 de agosto venidero.

Vélez: ya se entrenó Mauro Zárate

BUENOS AIRES -- Mauro Zárate cumplió su primer entrenamiento en Vélez.

El delantero realizó su primera práctica en el club de Liniers, entidad en la que surgió futbolísticamente y a la que volvió después de seis años.

El atacante, de 26 años, iniciado en la entidad de Liniers, trabajó de forma liviana en la Villa Olímpica, mientras el equipo dirigido por Ricardo Gareca jugaba su primer amistoso de pretemporada ante Defensa y Justicia.

Vélez lo presentará formalmente como refuerzo para la próxima temporada una vez rubricado el vínculo, algo que se estima para esta misma tarde.

Zárate regresó con el pase en su poder al club que lo formó como jugador y con el que se consagró campeón del Clausura 2005 bajo la dirección técnica de Miguel Angel Russo.

Dos años después, el delantero emprendió su carrera por el exterior en Al-Sadd de Qatar, Birmingham de Inglaterra, Lazio e Inter de Italia.

Es el primer refuerzo del plantel de Vélez, que se desprendió de Germán Montoya, Gino Peruzzi, Federico Freire y Facundo Ferreyra, entre otros.

River: Ramón ya conduce en Salta

SALTA -- River Plate prosiguió esta mañana la pretemporada que realiza en Salta, mientras aguarda definiciones sobre la casi confirmada incorporación de Jonathan Fabbro, la probable llegada del colombiano Teófilo Gutiérrez y la eventual salida de los hermanos Gabriel y Ramiro Funes Mori que oxigenaría las arcas del club.

En el caso del mediocampista ofensivo nacionalizado paraguayo, pedido expresamente por el entrenador Ramón Díaz, su arribo a préstamo estaría resuelto y se espera que la rúbrica de su contrato se realice en las próximas horas para que pueda sumarse mañana mismo a la pretemporada en el norte argentino.

En tanto, si bien es un poco más complicada, la llegada de Gutiérrez parecería estar algo más cerca tras no ser convocado al último partido de pretemporada del Cruz Azul el pasado sábado, pero sobre todo luego de las declaraciones a medios mexicanos efectuadas por su padre y por su representante, Efraín Pachón.

"Los acontecimientos hablan. A Teo no lo tuvieron en cuenta para el partido y eso nos demuestra que los directivos están consiguiendo que pase a River", sostuvo Teófilo Gutiérrez padre.

Al mismo tiempo, Pachón señaló: "Teo se ha puesto a pensar en que las cosas están encaminadas a que se le cumpla el sueño de ir a River y que ya esté acordado el pase".

Además, se espera para hoy o mañana que el defensor Lucas Orban, quien también tendría ofertas de Europa, responda si acepta o no volver a la entidad de Núñez tras su paso por Tigre, así como también la definición sobre el arribo del volante colombiano Carlos Carbonero.

En otro orden, se aguarda una resolución sobre la situación de los mellizos Funes Mori, quienes no viajaron a la pretemporada por no renovar el contrato que expira dentro de un año, y a quienes esperan transferir para solventar las incorporaciones.

Por lo pronto, el plantel realizó esta mañana en el complejo "La Confraternidad", situado en las afueras de la ciudad de Salta, el primero de los dos turnos programados para hoy (el restante será en el estadio Padre Martearena a las 17).

El Salvador youth to test Haiti

HOUSTON -- The youngest team in the CONCACAF Gold Cup will have to play beyond its years at BBVA Compass Stadium, when it faces Haiti on Monday in the last Group B game for each.

El Salvador, which boasts of an average age of 24, sits in third place in with a 0-1-1 record and one point. The Cuscatlecos know that anything less than a win against Haiti (1-1-0, 3 points) could end their quarterfinal dreams.

Head coach Agustin Castillo has put the last-minute disappointment of losing to Honduras behind his team. It is clearly ready for the next challenge.

"Tomorrow is a must win for us against Haiti," he said. "There is no other way to look at this game. We have played good football in this tournament, but the luck has not been with us. Haiti is a very fast team which likes to take a lot of shots at goal and we have to be prepared for them and play every minute as it is our last."

Castillo said that he does not foresee any major changes to the team, however, he is contemplating adding another striker to the mix. Castillo admitted that he would have liked one more skilled player in the midfield. Arturo Alvarez would have fit the bill, but he was not available.

When asked about the lack of seasoned players on his team, Castillo replied: "We are looking to grow our players and give them exposure. Experience can´t be bought so this is a great time to build up our team.

"I have been given the task of growing these young men and getting them that experience. The Gold Cup is an excellent way to start.”

After an opening day loss to Honduras, the Haitians have rebounded well and are in prime position to advance to the next round.

"It´s a do or die kind of game," Haiti coach Israel Blake Cantero said. "We feel we have an edge because of the positioning of the group, but there is still 90 minutes of football to be played."

A confident Haitian captain Jean-Marc Alexandre and his teammates are ready for the game.

"There is no guarantee that we can give our fans, but whenever we wear the national jersey we will give of our best as we always do," said the Orlando City star.

Cantero added that playing against Spain recently and Honduras has left him with a better understanding of what to expect from El Salvador.

"Spain practice a style of play similar to the Central Americans, so it was a great help in playing them before this competition and our opening game with Honduras was along the same tactics," he said. "There is no particular player on El Salvador we see as a threat, but rather the entire team is capable. We must, however, pay special attention to their two forwards and keep them out of the game."
