Uruguay has what it takes to advance according to Suarez
Liverpool´s Uruguayan striker, Luis Suarez, is confident that Uruguay can get a direct berth to the 2014 World Cup with only two rounds remaining.
On arrival to his country from England, the celeste striker said he looks "forward to the game on Friday" against Ecuador, in Quito.
"With a point we make the playoffs and just three rounds ago that would have been a miracle," said the player. "Now we all want a direct berth."
The striker admitted, however, that the match at altitude will not be easy.
"Playing in Quito is difficult. We cannot be complacent, we are realistic. We come to this match on a winning streak and doing things right, but we can´t put too much confidence in ourselves," said the player.
The team starts training on Monday afternoon ahead of the crucial final stretch of the qualifiers in which the ´Celeste´ faces Ecuador next Friday and Argentina four days later in Montevideo.
Uruguay have won their last three qualifiers against Venezuela (0-1), Peru (1-2) and Colombia (2-0), which leave them on 22 points, the same as Ecuador, but on goal difference the ´tricolor´ holds the fourth position in the standings.
Argentina with 29 points, and already qualified for the World Cup, leads the table followed by Colombia with 26 points and Chile with 24.
