Costa Rica Primera Division Wrap: Saprissa slip up at Carmelita

Deportivo Saprissa have lost ground on leaders Herediano after a shock loss to Carmelita in the Costa Rican Primera Division on Monday.

Saprissa saw their four-game unbeaten run brought to an end after two goals from Bryan Solorzano helped Carmelita to a 2-1 win.

Solorzano struck either side of the break before Josue Martinez pulled one back two minutes from time, but the home side held on to move up to fifth spot.

But Deportivo are now four points adrift of the table-topping Herediano, who easily accounted for lowly Belen Siglo XXI 4-1.

First-half goals to Anllel Porras and Ismael Gomes sent the visitors on their way to victory, with Jose Cancela and Minor Diaz completing the rout late on.

In other results, Limon and Cartagines played out a goalless draw while UCR slumped to their second home defeat in four days, going down 2-1 to Perez Zeledon.

Alajuelense went second courtesy of a 1-0 win on the road at Uruguay, while Puntarenas scored in the first minute and held on to beat Santos de Guapiles 1-0.

Herediano kører forresten derudaf. De vandt i aftes 4-1 ude over Belén og har efter 13 kampe, 10 sejre, 2 uafgjorte og et nederlag. De er tre point foran Alajuelense på andenpladsen og har endda spillet en kamp færre. Saprissa på 3. pladsen har spillet ligeså mange kampe som Herediano og er fire point efter. Herediano er så godt som allerede sikret plads i de afgørende kampe.

Stort drenge ! - og godt af både Abreu og Herediano er ved at finde topformen...

Apropos Boca, blev der også spillet et par kampe i Bolivia.


LFBP Wrap: Nacional Potosi finally lose

Nacional Potosi lost their first game in two months and missed the chance to go top of the LFPB as they went down 2-0 to Blooming on Sunday.

Nacional goalkeeper Aristides Florentin kept his side in the game with two magnificent point-blank saves, while Oscar Diaz saw his fine looping header ruled out for offside.

Diaz was denied two more goals for fouls after the break, but the hosts at the Estadio Ramon Aguilera Costas kept the pressure on and finally took the lead 18 minutes into the second half.

The 27-year-old Diaz was hauled down in the box, but he did not take the chance to hit the net for a fourth time, Koke instead converting from the penalty spot.

Nacional pushed for a late equaliser as they looked to usurp The Strongest at the top of the table. However, they were caught on the counter with just three minutes left, substitute Marco Lazage sealing the points for Blooming, who move up to ninth place.

There was further misery for Potosi residents, as the city´s other top-flight side, Real, also lost on Sunday, going down 1-0 at home to Club Universitario.

Mauricio Saucedo scored the only goal of the game five minutes after half-time as Universitario broke quickly from a Real corner and the 15-time Bolivia international crashed a left-footed effort into the top left-hand corner.

The win takes Universitario to seventh, seven points off a Copa Sudamerica spot, while Real are second from bottom with eight points from their opening 11 games

Hmm kval-kampene blev spillet tidligt i weekenden. Det gør de IKKE i morgen. Bl.a. spilles Costa Rica - Mexico først kl. 03:30. Jeg skal forsøge at holde mig vågen, men det kan blive en af de svære.

jeg tror - eller rettere mener at vide at ihvertfald CONCACAF-kampe spilles på samme tid...???
