Hay una posibilidad de que Ingnacio Scocco vuelva a Newell´s

ROSARIO -- El delantero Ignacio Scocco tendría chances de volver a Newell`s Old Boys a préstamo por seis meses debido a que en diciembre vence una cuota que tiene que pagar Internacional de Porto Alegre y se puede negociar, pero no sería fácil el acuerdo para el regreso del goleador del torneo Final 2013.

Scocco, que lleva cuatro tantos en 15 partidos en el Inter, es habitual suplente en el conjunto brasileño, aunque la mayor traba es el contrato que tiene el atacante, que recibe una paga mensual de 159 mil dólares

Paulo Ferrari: "Es un presente bueno por los resultados"

ROSARIO -- El defensor de Rosario Central Paulo Ferrari expresó el martes que tanto él como sus compañeros tienen "un presente bueno" en el plano futbolístico por las dos victorias consecutivas en el torneo Inicial, ante el líder y clásico rival, Newell`s Old Boys y Belgrano de Córdoba.

"Es un presente bueno por los resultados. Venimos teniendo triunfos importantes con equipos muy difíciles, eso hace que uno esté tranquilo y trabaje en la semana para seguir mejorando", destacó Ferrari luego del entrenamiento del equipo rosarino en el predio de Arroyo Seco.

Rosario Central acumula 18 unidades, no pierde desde la séptima fecha (2-0, de visitante, ante Tigre) y suma dos victorias seguidas: 2-1, de local, ante Newell`s (11ma. fecha) y 1-0, de visitante, ante Belgrano de Córdoba (12ma. fecha).

Ferrari, exdefensor de River Plate, expresó que "el equipo es fundamental" para obtener resultados óptimos en el certamen: "cuando todos jugamos para él y lo hacemos de esa manera nos sentimos mejor individualmente y mejoramos"

Y agregó: "es lo que buscábamos desde el principio, tratar de ser duros, respaldar a cada jugador y por suerte lo estamos logrando".

De cara al próximo encuentro, ante Atlético de Rafaela, por 14ta. fecha de torneo Inicial, Ferrari señaló que enfrentarán a un conjunto "difícil" y que deben estar "preparados" para vencerlos en el estadio Gigante de Arroyito.

LA ACTIVIDAD DEL MARTES

El plantel rosarino se entrenó en la mañana del martes en el predio de Arroyo Seco, donde el entrenador aún no dio pistas sobre la formación titular, pero se especula que el defensor Lucas Lazo reemplazará al suspendido Rafael Delgado, en lo que sería la única variante con respecto al equipo que ganó en Córdoba ante Belgrano.

Rosario Central, que acumula 18 unidades, recibirá el próximo sábado a Atlético de Rafaela (21), por la 14ta. jornada del torneo Inicial 2013, a partir de las 18, en el estadio Gigante de Arroyito

Habría cuatro cambios en Gimnasia

LA PLATA -- Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata presentará cuatro variantes para el partido del sábado ante Racing, ya que Facundo Pereyra, Juan Pablo Rodríguez y Nicolás Benavídez reemplazarán a los expulsados Gastón Díaz, Matías García y Franco Mussis, y el volante Omar Pouso, recuperado, ingresará por Dardo Miloc.

Gimnasia recibirá a Racing por la 14ta. fecha del torneo Inicial en el estadio Juan Carlos Zerrillo.

Díaz, García y Mussis fueron sancionados por los incidentes que protagonizaron el pasado viernes junto a los jugadores de Arsenal de Sarandí.

El entrenador Pedro Troglio dispuso un ensayo en el predio deportivo de Estancia Chica, en Abasto, y en la práctica Rodríguez ingresó por Díaz, Benavídez por García y Pereyra por Mussis. En este último caso se retrasó Ignacio Fernández al mediocampo.

Por otra parte, Pouso, recuperado de una lesión muscular, ocupó el lugar de Miloc y Rodríguez trabajó el sector de Díaz, por izquierda, pasando Meza a la banda derecha.

Así, los once para el encuentro del próximo sábado serían Fernando Monetti; Facundo Oreja, Osvaldo Barsottini, Juan Carlos Blengio y Nicolás Benavídez; Maximiliano Meza, Omar Pouso, Ignacio Fernández y Juan Pablo Rodríguez; Facundo Pereyra y Erik Correa.

El plantel de Gimnasia retomará las prácticas el jueves, a partir de las 9.30, y según lo dispuesto por el cuerpo técnico realizarán una práctica de fútbol formal, a puertas cerradas, en Abasto.

Troglio busca reemplazo a los suspendidos

BUENOS AIRES -- Tras los incidentes ocurridos en el final del partido del pasado viernes entre Arsenal y Gimnasia, Pedro Troglio tendrá la difícil tarea de sustituir, ante Racing, a los tres jugadores expulsados: Franco Mussis, Matías Garcia y Gastón Díaz.

Además, durante la práctica de fútbol correspondiente al entrenamiento del martes, Ignacio Fernández comenzó a sentir una molestia en una de sus rodillas y debió ser reemplazado por Dardo Miloc, por lo que está en duda su presencia ante el equipo de Reinaldo Merlo.

Para destacar, a favor de los dirigidos por Troglio, la acelerada recuperación de Lucas Licht de su esguince de tobillo. El lateral, ex-Racing será evaluado durante las próximas prácticas y, en caso de estar en condiciones, sería titular el sábado.

Durante el ensayo de fútbol del martes, ingresaron al once titular Juan Pablo Rodríguez por Gastón Díaz, Nicolás Benavidez por Ariel Garcia, Facundo Pereyra por Franco Mussis y Omar Pouso por Dardo Miloc.

En definitiva, Troglio puso en cancha a: Fernando Monetti; Facundo Oreja, Osvaldo Barsottini, Juan Carlos Blengio y Nicolás Benavidez; Maximiliano Meza, Omar Pouso, Dardo Miloc y Juan Pablo Rodríguez; Facundo Pereyra y Erik Correa.

Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata tiene 20 puntos en el Torneo Inicial, producto de cinco triunfos, cinco empates y tres derrotas. Con la actual campaña, el Lobo Platense se encuentra, momentáneamente, lejos de los puestos de descenso.

Argentinos: Nagüel, en duda, Iñiguez ya está descartado por un desgarro

BUENOS AIRES -- El mediocampista Santiago Nagüel padece una contractura en el isquiotibial derecho y es duda para el partido del próximo sábado ante Olimpo de Bahía Blanca, como local, por la fecha 14 del torneo Inicial, mientras que Gaspar Iñíguez sufrió un desgarro y fue descartado.
Nagüel, quien fue titular en la derrota del pasado viernes ante Vélez Sarsfield (2-0), en Liniers, tiene una contractura en el isquiotibial derecho y no pudo entrenarse en la práctica matutina en el predio de la UTA en Moreno.

El mediocampista será probado el miércoles en la práctica de fútbol que programó el DT Ricardo Caruso Lombardi en el estadio, a puertas cerradas, y si no responde satisfactoriamente su lugar sería ocupado por Nicolás Olmedo, quien se recuperó de la lesión y está a disposición desde el inicio de la semana.

Por otro lado, se confirmó que Gaspar Iñíguez sufrió un desgarro en el cuádriceps derecho y será baja, por lo menos, por tres semanas. Por lo tanto, se pierde el duelo ante los bahienses y el próximo, por la fecha 15, frente a Racing Club.

Al finalizar el entrenamiento, que se centró en ejercicios con la pelota, el DT conversó durante varios minutos con todo el plantel.

Argentinos Juniors, que suma 17 puntos en el Inicial, recibirá a Olimpo de Bahía Blanca el sábado desde las 16 en el estadio Diego Armando Maradona por la fecha 14.

All Boys ante Arsenal

BUENOS AIRES -- El técnico Julio César Falcioni evalúa la posibilidad de concretar varios cambios en la formación inicial de All Boys, que este viernes visitará a Arsenal, en Sarandí, por la 14ta. fecha del torneo Inicial.

Si bien todavía no hubo fútbol formal durante la semana (recién lo hará el miércoles), el ensayo táctico desplegado, a puertas cerradas, en el predio de Ciudad Evita entregó algunas pistas.

Por lo pronto, el bloque defensivo muestra dos cambios respecto del utilizado en el último encuentro con Tigre (0-0).

Jonathan Ferrari se movió al costado derecho de la defensa y generó la salida de un histórico como Hernán Grana, permitiendo que el juvenil Nehuén Paz armara dupla central con Carlos Casteglione. Además, Marcelo Bustamante regresó al lateral izquierdo, en lugar de Carlos Soto.

En la mitad de la cancha, en tanto, Ezequiel Benavídez recuperó su plaza en el once y sustituyó a Roberto Battión, titular ante Tigre.

Por su lado, el juvenil Jonathan Calleri, que marcó dos goles en el elenco de Reserva que batió a Tigre 3-0 a mitad de semana, podría ganar un lugar en el ataque, acompañando a Mauro Matos.

El técnico Falcioni refrendará o no estas variantes en el ensayo que formulará el miércoles, también a puertas cerradas y en Ciudad Evita, en horario matutino.

All Boys, que lleva seis encuentros sin triunfos, visitará este viernes a Arsenal, a partir de las 18, en Sarandí.

Colón: Sciaqua renueva el ataque

SANTA FE -- El técnico de Colón de Santa Fe, Mario Sciacqua, apostó el martes a los ingresos de Martín Comachi y Darío Gandín en el ataque, con miras al cotejo del viernes próximo ante Newell`s Old Boys, en uno de los adelantos de la 14ta. fecha del torneo Inicial de primera división.

En el ensayo futbolístico desarrollado durante la jornada, el entrenador sabalero le dio la titularidad al tándem Comachi-Gandín, que jugaron el segundo tiempo en el partido con Boca Juniors (0-2) el viernes pasado.

"Me dio por las pelotas lo que hicimos en el primer tiempo" había expresado el DT Sciacqua en la zona de vestuarios de la Bombonera, disconforme con el rendimiento alcanzado por sus jugadores en esos 45m. iniciales.

En virtud de las modificaciones realizadas el martes, el entrenador eligió una dupla ofensiva diferente y mandó al equipo alternativo a Facundo Callejo y Rubén Ramírez, respectivamente.

Entonces, una probable alineación de Colón para enfrentar al puntero Newell`s, este viernes, a las 20.15, nucleará a Germán Montoya; Luis Castillo, Oscar Carniello, Lucas Landa y Cristian Saín; Gabriel Graciani, Sebastián Prediger, César Meli y Lucas Mugni; Comachi y Gandín.

Into the Elite Eight

La Celeste’s boys started off their second stage campaign earlier today facing one of the surprise teams in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, Slovakia. With a win, Uruguay would be looking at reaching the quarter finals for the 3rd time in as many U-17 World Cups. Manager Fabian Coito reverted back to his original starting line-up from the first two group stage games, putting Franco Acosta and Kevin Mendez back in.

Today’s starting line-up: Thiago Cardozo, Joel Bregonis, Fabrizo Buschiazzo, Enrique Etcheverry, Matias Suarez, Franco Pizzichillo, Kevin Mendez, Gaston Faber, Leandro Otormin, Marcio Benitez,and Franco Acosta.

The first half saw Uruguay open up the scoring five minutes in. Leandro Otormin took advantage of an awful error by Slovakia’s goalkeeper Martin Junas. He really misjudged the flight of the ball, and Otormin slid it into the open net for the 1 -0 lead. Most of the first half was very choppy. Uruguay was allowing Slovakia to come into the final third, and then taking the ball away and springing a good balanced counter attack. 34 minutes in, Acosta sent a ball into the middle towards Pizzichillo, who was taken down by the Slovak goalkeeper, and Uruguay was award a penalty kick. The play was started by another counter attack, and Pizzichillo made a phenomenal run from midfield to create the chance. Kevin Mendez was the one who stepped up to take the penalty kick. He sent Junas the wrong way on the kick and put it home for the 2 – 0 lead. Uruguay didn’t let up, and kept up the pressure on Slovakia. In a sequence that involved 3 straight corners, Uruguay would make it 3 – 0. The first corner almost led to an own goal, and the second led to Junas having to push a goal bound header from Buschiazzo over the crossbar. But, third time’s a charm. On the third corner, Mendez whipped it in, and Acosta got his head on it and put it in to send Uruguay into the half with a 3 -0 lead.

Down 3 – 0 at the start of the second half, Slovakia didn’t want to go home without a fight. They got a swagger and confidence to them in the opening moments of the half. Off a free kick, a header beat Cardozo but crushed the crossbar and stayed out. For all the work that he didn’t have to do in the first half, Cardozo was called upon quite a few times in the second. After withstanding a Slovak storm of possession and attack, Otormin finished off a counter attack with a great run and individual effort for his second of the day and Uruguay’s fourth. But again, credit to Slovakia who just wouldn’t give up despite being down 4 – 0. Their leading scorer, Tomas Vestenicky gave it a try from well outside the area, and was able to skip it past the outstretched Cardozo to make it 4 – 1. Slovakia didn’t wait and was right back at it again, pressuring a suddenly shaky Uruguay defense. Uruguay did have a chance to make it 5 – 1, but Acosta’s goal was disallowed on an offside call. Slovakia would run into some bad luck again, being denied by the crossbar from another long shot that had Cardozo beat. The final scoring of the game would come off a Slovak free kick that found the substitute Michael Sipak completely alone in the box to head it in for the final score of 4 – 2. Uruguay moves on, Slovakia goes home.

This game saw Uruguay do something they hadn’t done yet in this tournament, and that was take their foot off the gas pedal after they got the big lead. Against New Zealand, they kept attacking, but today we saw them get a little relaxed, but luckily it didn’t come back to haunt them. They did give up a lot of chances to Slovakia, but the crossbar was on our side today.

Up next: Nigeria (who defeated Iran 4 -1 earlier today) on November 2nd for a chance at the semis. Ugh. Uruguay seems to struggle against strong, physical African sides, and Nigeria has won this tournament 3 times. Nigeria is currently tied for most goals in the tournament with Brazil with 18 goals scored and 5 conceded. They also have Kelechi Iheanacho who has scored 5 goals and is tied for second in goals scored with Tomas Vestenicky. Brazil’s Boschilia leads everyone with 6. This will be a huge test for La Celeste.

Uruguay has their 29 players for the matches against Jordan

Uruguay football coach Oscar Tabarez, reserved 29 players ahead of the two playoff games to be played with Jordan in the last chance for a ticket to the 2014 World Cup.

The list marks the return of defender Martin Caceres, who suffered an injury to his right knee against Peru in September.

Uruguay finished fifth in the World Cup qualifiers and so will have to play against Jordan in a two-legged playoff. The first match will take place in Amman on November 13 and the second on the 20th in Montevideo.

Herrera starts high-pressure stint in unlikeliest of places

TIJUANA, Mexico -- Standing at a distance of exactly 1,715 miles from the Federal District, Miguel Herrera and his green-clad players were literally as far as they possibly could be from Mexico’s capital city on Monday. And yet the ambiance, the pressure and the stakes surrounding his news conference was more reminiscent of Mexico City intensity than the cliché, relaxed (Baja) California attitude.

Dozens of national and international media members lined up for an opportunity to question the newly appointed Tri boss just 48 hours before his first match, a friendly showdown against Finland at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, Calif.

A game that was scheduled earlier in the year as a way to fill El Tri’s 2013 calendar against a token European rival has now acquired an added significance. Suddenly, even with a “B” team that features no proven stars outside of former Premier League striker Mikael Forssell, Finland’s tall starting eleven and physical defenders present a fantastic prep exam en route to the New Zealand series.

Even with no European-based players of his own, Herrera is taking the match beyond seriously. “We know the responsibility we have here, we’re going for the objective,” said Herrera, knowing full well that both his personal future as well as the entire team’s hinges on the home-and-away series against the Oceania champions.

That’s why, less than two weeks away from the pivotal first leg at the Estadio Azteca, Herrera, still manager of Club America aside from his national team duties, is pulling out all the stops.

Already a team with four foreign-born players on the roster, Herrera was keen to draw Club America winger Rubens Sambueza into the fold. The Argentine-born Sambueza was uncapped at the senior level with Argentina, but a 2001 foray with the U-17 team at the World Cup was enough to draw a negative ruling from FIFA. Even then, Herrera has called up 10 Club America players for the Finland game.

America isn’t the only successful team Herrera is drawing on for his abbreviated stint. Having already revealed his lineup (as per his custom) before the match, the first starting eleven in the “Piojo” era features six Club America players and four Club Leon players, including legendary defender Rafael Marquez. Striker Oribe Peralta is the only outsider in the lineup, and a player that is likely to repeat up front for Herrera against New Zealand.

Even with a pair of improvised scrimmages under his belt, this will be Herrera’s first test. Just five months removed from winning his first league title, Herrera has gone from flavor of the month to the man in charge of the country’s most important team, one that is in danger of missing out on its first World Cup since 1990.

Sporting a 5-3-2 formation that has not been seen at El Tri since 2006, Mexico will likely employ the carefree attacking spirit that Herrera’s clubs adopt under his command. Long criticized for being too reliant on counterattacking and leaving too much space in the back for opponents to capitalize on, the sudden change in strategy has come to be another symbol of a team riddled by hasty change and turmoil.

With effectively a mixture of two Liga MX teams on the pitch, there is question as to whether the oft-criticized European legion of Mexican stars will have a chance to strut their stuff for Herrera come November. Boiled down to its core, this would mean that Herrera, Mexico’s fourth manager since September, would choose to play the two most important games of his career to what amounts to a “B” team.

The phrase might be beyond originality at this point, but there’s nothing “friendly” about the game at Qualcomm Stadium on Wednesday.
