River ensayó con Balanta y Teo Gutiérrez entre los titulares

BUENOS AIRES -- El entrenador de River, Ramón Díaz, incluyó como titulares en la práctica de este viernes a los jugadores colombianos Eder Alvarez Balanta y Teo Gutiérrez, de cara al partido ante Racing por la fecha 17ma. el domingo a las 21.15 en Avellaneda.

De esto se desprende que el equipo elegido por el riojano formará con: Marcelo Barovero; Gabriel Mercado, Germán Pezzella, Alvarez Balanta, Leonel Vangioni; Matías Kranevitter y Ariel Rojas; Carlos Carbonero, Teo y Manuel Lanzini; Gio Simeone.

Durante toda la semana, el entrenador había ensayado con Rogelio Funes Mori y Federico Andrada en el lugar de los jugadores colombianos porque ambos habían estado afectados a la selección de su país, que jugó dos amistosos en Europa, y recién este viernes a la mañana el delantero y el zaguero pudieron trabajar con normalidad.

De este modo y en relación al equipo que perdió con Olimpo de local por 3 a 1, serán cuatro los cambios, ya que vuelve Barovero -quien estaba lesionado por Leandro Chichizola-, Balanta ingresará por Jonathan Maidana -suspendido-, Rojas por Ledesma y Teo por Jonathan Fabbro.

En cuanto al sistema táctico que trabajó el entrenador, será con una línea de cuatro defensores, dos volantes por el centro que son Rojas y Kranevitter, dos volantes por afuera que se convierten en delanteros cuando el equipo ataca, un media punta que es Teo y de centro delantero jugará Simeone.

El entrenamiento se llevó a cabo en el predio de Ezeiza a puertas cerradas, con una práctica de fútbol táctica y mañana a la mañana en el Monumental el plantel quedará concentrado tras realizar las tareas de pelota parada.

River lleva 9 partidos consecutivos sin poder ganar (dos por la Copa Sudamericana) y solamente anotó 10 goles, y suma apenas 17 puntos en una de las campañas más pobre del club con Ramón Díaz como entrenador del equipo.

El equipo millonario, que viene de caer de local por 3-1 ante Olimpo, visitará el domingo en el estadio Juan Domingo Perón al equipo de Reinaldo ´Mostaza´ Merlo, que suma un empate ante Quilmes en la fecha anterior y una derrota ante Argentinos por 1-0 y tiene solamente 9 puntos en lo que va del torneo Inicial 2013.

Ramon: "Uno de los errores graves fue realizar muchos cambios"

BUENOS AIRES -- Ramón Díaz asumió, en su habitual conferencia de prensa de los viernes, como "uno de los errores graves" que cometió en River, el haber cambiado tanto el equipo. Además, adelantó que dejará que Teófilo Gutiérrez juegue "tirándose atrás".

Un periodista le señaló al DT de River la cantidad de veces que había cambiado los once y el riojano aseguró que es algo que no le había pasado antes y admitió: "Uno de los errores graves que cometimos fue realizar muchas modificaciones en los equipos".

No obstante, reiteró: "Estoy tranquilo con lo que hice y estoy haciendo. Estamos preparando un informe completo de lo que hicimos y por qué".

"No es momento de hablar de política. Sólo nos interesan los nueve puntos que tenemos en juego", remarcó respecto a las críticas que recibe.

"En este momento, lo que más necesitamos es definición adelante. La intención es llegar por los costados y ser contundentes". Consideró que el domingo ante Racing el delantero Teófilo Gutiérrez jugará como en el seleccionado colombiano porque a su lado, y en un rol similar al que cumple Radamel Falcao García, estará un centrodelantero tradicional como Giovanni Simeone.

"Jugamos con dos puntas, Gio y él (Gutiérrez), prácticamente como juega en la selección colombiana. No le vamos a pedir algo que lo incomode. Tirándose atrás no quiere decir que no llegue. La intención es que juegue y que también convierta goles", señaló el técnico.
Gutiérrez había dicho el mes pasado que prefería jugar con un centrodelantero tradicional y se había quejado porque la pelota no le llegaba con la limpieza esperada.

"Todos los que llegan a River necesitan tiempo y ser protagonistas. Hay exigencias de la gente y el periodismo", explicó de nuevo, por el bajo rendimiento de los refuerzos y, en especial, del colombiano.

"No es fácil adaptarse al Club, a las presiones, y a lo que se pretende de uno. El rendimiento tiene que ser siempre al 100%".

Por otra parte, Ramón negó que haya listas de prescindibles -se habla de Jonathan Bottinelli, Rodrigo Mora, Jonathan Fabbro y Cristian Ledesma-, aunque admitió que Bottinelli y Mora están muy lejos de su nivel.

En tanto, dijo que tendrá en cuenta a Martín Aguirre, a quien cree es el único al que no le dio una oportunidad. "Aguirre es un jugador de categoría y experiencia", remarcó.

Bianchi: " Tenemos que ganar, es la única palabra que tenemos en mente"

BUENOS AIRES -- Carlos Bianchi aseguró que para Boca "ganar, es la única palabra" que tienen que tener en la mente ante All Boys y le pidió a Leandro Paredes "ser más patrón". Dejó en duda los regresos de Fernando Gago y Juan Manuel Martínez.

Con respecto al desempeño del equipo en el torneo, comentó: "Hubo partidos muy buenos, buenos y malos. Como todos los que estamos peleando el campeonato".

"No sé si hay equipos que hayan llegado al nivel que tuvimos nosotros en los partidos contra Vélez y Racing".

Y le pidió a Paredes: "Leandro se tendría que hacer más patrón y tener más llegada". Así mismo, aclaró: " Leandro tiene derecho como Román de moverse por todos los sectores del campo, no tiene un lugar fijo. Son los creadores".

Al jugar al final de la jornada del domingo, Boca ya conocerá varios resultados, consultado sobre si eso es una ventaja o una presión, contestó: " Nosotros tenemos que ganar, es la única palabra que tenemos que tener en la mente".

"Hay que trabajar lo mental, lo hemos sufrido en el segundo tiempo. El descanso nos da comfort y cuando salimos no tenemos la realidad".

Y reiteró sobre las bajas por lesiones: "Vivo adaptándome a las circunstancia, no me puedo lamentar. Tengo que encontrar los 11, aunque no sean los ideales".

Sobre los once para el domingo, dijo: "No tengo la formación definida. Por eso concentré a veinte jugadores. Si uno habla con Fernando, el jugador se encuentra bien, pero vamos a ver. Y hay que ver cómo reacciona mañana (sábado) Martínez", expresó Bianchi en conferencia de prensa luego del entrenamiento en Casa Amarilla.

Por otra parte, el entrenador de Boca Juniors evitó opinar sobre los dichos del presidente de la institución, Daniel Angelici, quien afirmó que en caso de no no lograr títulos "sería difícil" renovar su contrato, más allá de sus pergaminos o del peso propio de su nombre dentro del club.

"No hago ningún comentario", afirmó tajante.

El jueves, al ser consultado por la continuidad de Bianchi en Boca, Angelici indicó: "Si ganamos campeonatos estamos todos contentos y podemos renovar por 3, 8 o 10 años más. Pero si no se ganan es muy difícil renovar, aunque se trate de Bianchi. En Boca siempre tenés la obligación de ganar".

Y sobre dos que suenan como sus posibles sucesores, Barros Schelotto y Palermo, comentó: "Los equipos de Guillermo y de Palermo juegan bien. S on técnicos que con la experiencia van a poder dirigir cualquier club del mundo".

Europe-based players face anxious wait

Let´s assume Miguel Herrera is handed the task of taking Mexico to Brazil for the World Cup next summer. After all, he´s backed the talk up with victories over New Zealand and is the in-form coach in the Liga MX after taking Club America to the title last season.

What can we expect from the squad considering qualification was obtained without Europe-based players, that Herrera´s 5-3-2 system is a template players must fit into -- not the other way round -- and that he is known both for his loyalty to those who have served him well and for making bold decisions?

First of all, Herrera has been consistent in saying that the Europe-based players are important to Mexico and, secondly, he should now have the time to help integrate them before the World Cup.

Here´s a run down -- in order of most to least probable -- of which Europe-based Mexicans are likely to be in that World Cup squad and where they could fit into Herrera´s system.

Javier Hernandez, striker -- Manchester United

"Chicharito´s" strike rate is second to none, and the fact Herrera plays with two out-and-out center forwards is good news for the former Chivas player, who might be in a battle with Oribe Peralta, Giovani Dos Santos, Raul Jimenez and -- possibly -- Carlos Vela for a starting place but shouldn’t have any problem getting into the squad, regardless of the fact he isn’t necessarily a regular at Manchester United.

Hector Moreno, center-back -- Espanyol

Perhaps the most consistent player in Mexico´s foreign legion, it is difficult to see Moreno not being in El Tri´s starting XI under any manager, but he will likely have to adapt to playing on the left-hand side of a back three, with the former Pumas defender normally featuring in a flat-back four for Espanyol. Moreno is likely to move on this winter, and making sure it is to a club with which he plays regularly is essential.

Giovani Dos Santos, forward -- Villarreal

Not taking a player in the form of Dos Santos, with his capabilities to unlock defenses, is inconceivable, but where he would slot in under Herrera is difficult to decipher. One possibility is alongside a central striker, and the other is as an attacking midfielder, although that would involve a good deal more defensive duties than he´s used to in La Liga.

Guillermo Ochoa, goalkeeper -- Ajaccio

Will this finally be Ochoa´s chance to grab Mexico´s No. 1 shirt and make it his own after having missed out in both 2006 and 2010? Herrera is likely to hand Ochoa a chance at some point leading up to the World Cup, and it´ll be up to him to keep the spot, but the probable new Mexico coach has also praised Jesus Corona recently.

Hector Herrera, midfielder -- Porto

The former Pachuca player and Olympic gold medalist has failed to impress so far at the international level but is bedding in nicely in Portugal. A Carlos Pena and Herrera partnership in front of Juan Carlos Medina is mouthwatering.

Andres Guardado, left-back/left midfielder) -- Valencia

A veteran of two World Cups at just 27, Guardado has fallen from grace in recent months. Playing mainly as a left-back for Valencia, his natural position could well be as a left-wing back, which fits perfectly into Herrera´s system. Guardado has the experience and quality to deserve a chance to make the position his own, perhaps with the impressive Miguel Layun playing on the right.

Diego Reyes, center-back -- Porto

If Reyes can get regular minutes, there seems little doubt Herrera, his former coach at Club America, will promote him straight into the Mexico side, with the 21-year-old well versed in what is expected of a center-back in the 5-3-2 system in which the defender is extremely comfortable on the ball. The big problem is that Porto coach Paulo Fonseca has so far shown little faith in his new recruit, and Herrera has stressed over and over again that he needs players who are in rhythm.

Carlos Vela, forward -- Real Sociedad

Who knows what is running through Vela´s mind at present, but the fact remains that he is perhaps Mexico´s best player and El Tri can´t afford to be without him. With Herrera in charge, a final attempt at reconciliation seems likely, but Vela has a lot of making up to do with Mexico fans and his international teammates.

Javier Aquino, winger -- Villarreal

Aquino just might be the biggest loser in Herrera´s takeover, not because the former Cruz Azul winger is doing anything wrong at Villarreal but simply because Aquino is an out-and-out winger. It is unlikely he can adapt to play as a wing-back or in a more central role.

Nery Castillo, forward -- Rayo Vallecano

Herrera has mentioned Castillo´s name recently, offering a glimmer of hope to a player whose international career fizzled out quite spectacularly after bursting onto the scene at the 2007 Copa America. Still, the 29-year-old faces an uphill struggle.

Jonathan Dos Santos, midfielder -- Barcelona

Just as everything indicated the younger Dos Santos brother would leave Barcelona this winter in search of minutes ahead of next summer´s World Cup, he hurt his ACL last month in training. The 23-year-old is due back next April but is unlikely to get enough playing time at Barca to prove himself ready to be part of the Mexico squad.

Should Herrera continue to lead El Tri?

WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- Ricardo Pelaez had let it slip a few days earlier: "Yes, I have a voice and a vote to personally recommend [to Televisa mogul Azcarraga Jean] that Miguel [´Piojo´ Herrera] should continue as coach of the Mexican national team."

Pelaez did this without changing his position. "Miguel and I are on loan for two games. Afterward we´ll return to America and the Liguilla [Liga MX playoffs]," but he also acknowledged that at the end of the day, for his boss as well as for all of Mexican soccer, the national team is more important that the ambitions of America.

But the question stands: Should Herrera continue to lead El Tri?

He himself recognized after the 4-2 (9-3 overall) result against New Zealand that it would be ridiculous to search for a fifth coach for the national team in this long, hard and difficult process before the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

"Nobody wants a fifth coach," Herrera explained, knowing no doubt that against New Zealand, albeit with shortcomings and deficiencies, Mexico recovered many of its lost virtues.

One of them was the ability to use the Azteca Stadium as a fortress, as opposed to during the tenure of Chepo de la Torre, who, even though he had many things going for him, ended up failing to win and even suffered another disastrous loss in the Azteca.

Another was the way they played, the team´s resoluteness and fighting spirit, and the proper use of key players such as Luis Montes, Gullit Pena, Paul Aguilar and Miguel Layun, and very much in particular Oribe Peralta, a player who under de la Torre was one striker among many, while Chicharito Hernandez was given blind and slavish backing, keeping him higher than Oribe in the pecking order.

Clearly, the decision has been made. But this traditional need to hold farces, to make a big show out of things, to create a big song and dance, makes the decision the responsibility of the "Junta" of club owners, as (former El Tri manager) Sven-Goran Eriksson would say.

And we all know that the "Junta" obeys the yoke that has them by the throat. They will be notified; they are not going to be allowed to make suggestions or cast a vote.

The other 17 team owners will be allowed to speak to the America of Televisa, but will not have a chance to vote against. That is the price of submission and slavery for those who choose to live under the yoke.

But, thinking that he can fool Mexico´s soccer fans, at the end of the scheduled meeting on Dec. 2, Justino Compean will emerge to cynically state that "by unanimous decision, which reflects our solidarity and our union of purpose toward the national team, Miguel Herrera is confirmed as manager."

It should clear that in Mexican soccer, the democratic process is so very important, so transparent and so false, that the vote of one against the vote of 17 always wins, by a huge majority.

In other words, democracy in Mexico is not judged by actual votes, but by invalidation, the striking out of 17 votes against the power of their ruler: Televisa.

In the world of lies, one is more than 17.

The important thing, however, is Herrera’s clarity with regard to the process. Because during the news conference, after securing the passport to Brazil, his words were no longer conditioned by that meeting of Dec. 2, he spoke freely knowing that the job was his.

1. He is well aware that this team, which overran New Zealand in a resounding and emphatic way, needs a heck of lot of work to be able to reach a competitive level in the World Cup.

2. He understands, unlike his predecessors, that the Europe-based players should act as complements to a basic team spine, and they should not be punished nor expected to always be the source of miracles. These players, as Herrera knows, should provide answers, but not be the only answer.

3. And Herrera is not alone. He has a man who has already had much experience with the national team. Pelaez, obviously, knows more about soccer, about sporting structure, about the coach and team´s needs, than Gonzalez Inarritu knows now, or may ever know.

4. In contrast to what Inarritu announced, Pelaez envisions an early arrival in South America, playing against European and World Cup-qualified opposition, two weeks before the tournament, even after their farewell game against Poland in the Azteca Stadium, and with a spine of Liga MX players, which will be gradually joined by the European contingent.

5. And Herrera´s position is interesting as well. He has a guaranteed relationship with the five players in Europe whom he was able to reach to explain why he didn´t call them up against New Zealand. He doesn´t hold grudges and will approach the three players who didn´t even return his calls, and will add to the list and give a chance to Nery Castillo, and will be sitting down to speak with Carlos Vela, whom he hoped was now "in a better mental state."

So the only thing remaining is to give the farcical official stamp of approval for the confirmation of Herrera as national team coach -- something which, as he explained, is not urgent, because now that he has established El Tri´s World Cup passage, he is now aiming for his second consecutive championship with America.

And so in the paradise of soap operas, tear-jerking TV series and ludicrously fake programs like Laura Bozzo´s, it is necessary to provide the televised stamp of approval, the elaborate protocol, the historical solemnity of the appointment.

In other words, let´s not make the crowning or the appointment of Miguel "Piojo" Herrera a lousy affair.

Ten potential transfer targets for Chivas

The Liga MX playoffs may only just be getting underway, but Chivas´ season ended in any meaningful sense weeks ago and attention has shifted to what comes next for a team that achieved 41 points less than rival Club America during 2013 -- in just 34 regular season games.

All the talk in Guadalajara is about who is leaving -- rumors suggest Luis Michel, Hector Reynoso, Miguel Ponce, Marco Fabian and Nestor Vidrio are on the transfer list -- and which players will be brought in to rescue the club from what is likely to be a relegation battle in the Clausura 2015.

Here are 10 realistic targets for Chivas this transfer window, keeping in mind the key positions that need to be filled are center back, wingbacks and central midfield. The players could make an instant impact to improve Guadalajara, don’t play for Club America -- with deals between the clubs a no-go -- and aren’t Javier Hernandez, Carlos Vela or any other player currently out of the club’s reach. The other thing that needs to be taken into account is not one of the players mentioned should be regarded as “saviors,” but as cogs in a wider reconstruction of the Chivas first team.

Carlos Pena, Center midfield (Leon) Age: 23

“Gullit” is slowly making a name for himself at international level and has become a key part of high-flying Leon’s charge to Copa Libertadores qualification. He is the kind of player fans would adore at the Estadio Omnilife, with his non-stop effort and the drive he provides his team on the attack. The downside is that the player is likely on the list of transfer targets of teams in Europe.

Jair Pereira, Center back (Cruz Azul) Age: 27

Chivas need central defenders who can be relied on to be solid and give a seven-out-of-10 performance week in, week out. Pereira fits the bill, but prying him away from La Maquina could be difficult.

Hugo Rodriguez, Center back (Tigres) Age: 23

Bought from Atlas by Tigres in 2012 with one eye on Hugo Ayala leaving, Rodriguez has been waiting patiently for his chance under Ricardo Ferretti, but it doesn’t seem to be coming anytime soon, with Ayala still at the club. Rodriguez does have an Atlista past and when he did play regularly for the Rojinegros, proved that he was an excellent young talent.

Diego de Buen, Center midfield (Puebla) Age: 22

A Pumas youth product, De Buen has established himself as a regular the last two seasons with Puebla as a dynamic central midfielder who can contribute both ends of the pitch. One of the brighter talents for Mexico in the 2011 Under-20 World Cup in Colombia, De Buen has surpassed some of his better-known teammates from that competition. Rumors suggest De Buen is very much on Guadalajara’s radar and a deal could be close.

Luis Montes, Central midfield/winger (Leon) Age: 27

Like his teammate Pena, Montes is starting to consolidate himself at international level and there is no doubt that the electric Montes could play that role of linking the Chivas midfield and offense. The problem with Montes, as with other players, is that it may be difficult for Chivas to attract them considering the club’s situation and the fact “Chapo” is already at an institution fighting for titles including the Copa Libertadores.

Julio Cesar Dominguez,, Left back/center back/ right back (Cruz Azul) Age: 26

A versatile defender with international caps under his belt, Dominguez has been a regular as a right-footed left back for Cruz Azul over the last couple of seasons. Tried and tested in the Liga MX and has exactly the kind of profile Chivas need right now – a proven player in his prime.

Carlos Salcido, Left back/center back/central midfield (Tigres) Age: 33

A return to Chivas would have been perfect when Salcido left Europe, but even now the Jalisco native could add a level of professionalism, leadership and steel the current team doesn’t possess. Salcido played his early career as a center back and would provide a strong option either as the leader of coach Juan Carlos Ortega´s back three, in the holding role or up and down the left flank as a wingback.

Edgar Andrade, Center midfield (Morelia) Age: 25

The major problem with Andrade is that he moved just last summer from Chiapas to Monarcas, but the midfielder is another that could slot straight in to improve Chivas. Andrade is a free-kick expert and was part of Mexico’s Under-17 World Cup winning squad in 2005, although his career was held back by a horrific injury in 2007.

Ivan Estrada, right back (Pachuca) Age: 30

Jesus Sanchez may have had a decent season for Chivas, but he’s not a real wingback and falls short on the defensive side. Former Santos Laguna right back Estrada has the speed and stamina to bomb up and down the wing and is much more capable in the defensive third.

Edson Rivera, Attacking midfield (Atlas) Age: 22

Rivera didn’t succeed during his time with Braga in Portugal following the 2011 U-20 World Cup, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the talent to one day do so. When he was given the opportunity this past Apertura, Rivera proved he is physically capable of dealing with first division soccer. His technique is exceptional and with Fabian possibly leaving, Rivera could fill the gap. Getting Rivera from Chivas’ city rivals could be problematic, but given Atlas’ financial situation coupled with the small problem of Omar Bravo supposedly not wanting to rejoin Chivas and you could have the makings of a mutually beneficial deal.

Berti aguarda por Heinze y Figueroa

BUENOS AIRES -- Luego de no ganar en sus últimas cinco presentaciones, el partido que Newell´s disputará el próximo domingo frente a Arsenal será vital para mantener vivas las posibilidades de luchar por el título y, para el mismo, Alfredo Berti no confirmó la alineación inicial, aguardando la recuperación de los lesionados.

Están confirmados los ingresos de Cristian Díaz, Hernán Villalba y Maxi Rodríguez, en lugar de Milton Casco, Diego Mateo y Martín Tonso, respectivamente. El defensor llegó a la quinta amarilla, Tonso sufrió una fractura, mientras que el mediocampista central deja la alineación inicial por una decisión táctica.

Mientras tanto, se espera por la evolución de Gabriel Heinze y Víctor Figueroa que durante la mañana del viernes realizaron trabajos diferenciados. Ambos padecen una molestia en el sóleo de la pierna izquierda y serán aguardados hasta las horas previas del partido.

En definitiva, la formación, con las dos dudas por despejar, sería: Nahuel Guzmán; Marcos Cáceres, Guillermo Ortiz o Gabriel Heinze, Víctor López y Cristian Díaz; Pablo Pérez, Hernán Villalba y Lucas Bernardi; Fabián Muñoz o Víctor Figueroa, David Trezeguet y Maxi Rodríguez.

Leandro Somoza: "Los jugadores queremos jugar y ganar todo"

BUENOS AIRES -- El volante central de Lanús, Leandro Somoza, manifestó hoy que su equipo quiere "jugar y ganar todo" en referencia a una inminente eventual clasificación a la final de la Copa Total Sudamericana y a las chances que el club tiene para adjudicarse el título del torneo Inicial 2013.

Uno de los principales artífices del éxito granate por 2-1 sobre Libertad, en Paraguay, por el partido de ida de una de las semifinales de la Copa Sudamericana, aseguró: "Estamos contentos por el triunfo. Pero ya estamos pensando en el rival del domingo, Gimnasia".

El mediocampista, ex-Velez y Boca, explicó: "Los jugadores queremos jugar y ganar todo, en ambos frentes, a esta altura no tenemos en cuenta el cansancio", sostuvo.

Pese a ello, Somoza sabe que el DT Guillermo Barros Schelotto será "quien disponga los jugadores que estaremos a disposición el domingo" expresó, tras la consulta efectuada por Télam.

El plantel granate volverá a trabajar el sábado, en horario matutino. Y tras la práctica, el técnico decidirá los representantes que saldrán a jugar ante el Lobo.

Respecto del triunfo obtenido en Asunción, el volante dijo: "Merecimos la victoria porque fuimos mejores en el juego y más certeros para definir".

En relación a las críticas que el técnico de Libertad, Pedro Sarabia, le formuló al árbitro Darío Ubriaco, el mediocampista resultó tajante: "Cuando se pierde siempre le echamos la culpa al juez", destacó.

"Nosotros también nos sentimos perjudicados en la jugada previa al gol de ellos", dijo en referencia al descuento de la entidad paraguaya, para finalizar en un tono conciliador y remarcar: "Los árbitros también son humanos y se equivocan como todos".

Tampoco vaciló en cuestionar a su propio compañero, Jorge Ortiz, quien anoche vio la tarjeta roja cuando el equipo ganaba por 2-0, por una agresión a Osmar Molinas.

"Sabemos que es difícil controlar las reacciones en medio de un partido pero hay que ser inteligente para actuar en estas instancias", dijo Somoza sin nombrar a su compañero.

"No podés dejar al resto con un jugador menos, cuando tu equipo va ganando y es superior al adversario. Porque, con inteligencia, estaremos en la final de la Sudamericana", aseveró.

Reinaldo Merlo: "Llegamos muy bien al clásico con River"

BUENOS AIRES -- El director técnico de Racing, Reinaldo Merlo, aseguró el viernes que, si bien tiene "dudas en todas las líneas" y no definió aún la formación, su equipo llega "muy bien" al partido del domingo a las 21.15 ante River, por la 17ma. fecha del Torneo Inicial.

"Llegamos muy bien al clásico con River. Todos están trabajando muy bien y todos tienen posibilidades de jugar. No tengo el equipo", señaló Mostaza Merlo, y fiel a su estilo afirmó que tiene "dudas en todas las líneas".

De todas formas, según se pudo ver en la práctica del viernes, Merlo paró a Sebastián Saja; José Luis Gómez, Fernando Ortiz, Esteban Saveljich, Matías Cahais; Bruno Zuculini, Gastón Campi, Agustín Pelletieri, Rodrigo De Paul; Gabriel Hauche y Agustín Viola.

El entrenamiento de la mañana incluyó trabajos con pelota y obstáculos, y después el plantel hizo ejercicios con pelota parada y fútbol táctico, en el que Merlo paró los mismos 11 que el jueves.

Sobre su rival del domingo, el DT consideró que "River es siempre protagonista, sale y juega. A Teófilo Gutiérrez ya lo conocen, es un gran jugador. River tiene un plantel de jerarquía, gastó un montón de plata", polemizó.

"La necesidad del resultado te puede llevar a jugar apurado. No hay que jugar al ritmo de la gente. Pero nosotros llegamos muy bien pese a los problemitas que tuvimos en la semana", sostuvo el técnico, autor del "paso a paso" y campeón con Racing en 2001.

Los "problemitas" a los que se refirió Mostaza son los lesionados: Diego Villar, con sobrecarga en la parte posterior del muslo izquierdo; Luciano Vietto, quien se resintió de un desgarró en el isquiotibial izquierdo; y Claudio Corvalán, descartado por una sobrecarga en el bíceps femoral izquierdo.

En lugar de Corvalán se concentrará por primera vez el delantero platense Guillermo Hauche, de 20 años, que no tiene ningún parentesco con Gabriel.

"El plantel sabe lo que estamos buscando. Que sea sólido, compacto. El clima está muy bien. Pero tenemos que seguir sumando, consolidando y mejorando día a día", concluyó Merlo.
