Acosta o Celeste, la duda de Bianchi

BUENOS AIRES -- Durante la práctica matutina del viernes, el plantel de Boca realizó una serie de ejercicios tácticos en el predio Pedro Pompillio y de los mismos formó parte Joel Acosta, quien compite con Francesco Celeste para ocupar el puesto de volante derecho, de cara al partido que los Xeneizes disptuarán ante Gimnasia, en el cierre del Torneo Inicial.

Acosta, quien debutó durante el ciclo de Claudio Borghi en octubre de 2010, había sufrido un golpe en su tobillo derecho en el entrenamiento del jueves y su presencia estaba en duda. Sin embargo, está en condiciones y Carlos Bianchi deberá definir si lo ubica a él o a Francesco Celeste como mediocampista por el sector derecho.

Además, del ensayo táctico formaron parte Fernando Gago y Pablo Ledesma y todo indica que, a pesar de que se iba a intentar no arriesgarlos, ambos serán titulares en el último partido del año.

En definitiva, los once probables para jugar ante Gimnasia, con la duda de Acosta o Celeste por despejar, serían: Agustín Orión; Leandro Marín, Daniel Díaz, Guillermo Burdisso, Emanuel Insúa; Joel Acosta o Francesco Celeste, Fernando Gago, Pablo Ledesma, Juan Manuel Sánchez Miño; Juan Manuel Martínez y Emmanuel Gigliotti.

La gran novedad de la jornada pasó porque Juan Román Riquelme estuvo presente en el entrenamiento y mantuvo una conversación con Carlos Bianchi, antes de desarrollar las sesiones de kinesiología por el desgarro sufrido el pasado 24 de noviembre, frente a All Boys.

Boca cerrará su actividad en 2013 recibiendo a Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, intentando volver al triunfo tras tres fechas, en las cuales perdió la posibilidad de luchar por el campeonato. El equipo de Carlos Bianchi no tiene posibilidad de clasificar a la Copa Libertadores 2014, por lo que el próximo semestre el gran objetivo será el Torneo Final 2014.

Ramón ya tiene el equipo de River para jugar con Quilmes

BUENOS AIRES -- El entrenador de River, Ramón Díaz, confirmó el equipo titular para enfrentar a Quilmes en la última fecha del torneo Inicial y volvió a dejar afuera de los concentrados a Jonathan Bottinelli, Rodrigo Mora y Jonathan Fabbro.

El plantel de River se entrenó el viernes en el estadio Monumental con una práctica de fútbol en la cual el entrenador reiteró el equipo titular con el que ensayó el jueves con Leonel Vangioni de volante, con Manuel Lanzini de enganche y con el juvenil Sebastián Driussi nuevamente de titular.

De este modo el equipo para enfrenar al Cervecero formará con: Marcelo Barovero, Gabriel Mercado, Germán Pezzella, Eder Balanta y Ramiro Funes Mori; Carlos Carbonero, Matías Kranevitter, Vangioni y Lanzini; Teo Gutiérrez y Driussi.

Así serán tres los cambios en relación al equipo que viene de ganarle a Argentinos por 1-0; ingresan Marcado y Alvarez Balanta -estaban suspendidos- por Maidana y Rojas, y en el medio volverá a ser titular Carbonero por Juan Carlos Menseguez.

Esta formación será la número 24 que elige el entrenador de River en 25 partidos disputados en el segundo semestre del año, donde además utilizó a 28 jugadores de un plantel de 30 profesionales que trabajan en primera.

Además del equipo titular quedarán concentrados: Leandro Chichizola, Osmar Ferreyra, Maidana, Leonardo Ponzio, Crístian Ledesma, Ariel Rojas, Federico Andrada y Martín Aguirre.

Fabbro, Mora y Bottinelli podrían dejar el club para el próximo semestre y no serán tenidos en cuenta para este partido en tanto que Juan Carlos Menseguez será cuidado por una molestia muscular para que pueda arrancar la pretemporada a la par del resto.

Ramón Díaz ordenó una práctica de fútbol en la que dio muchas indicaciones, en especial a Lanzini y los delanteros, en tanto que los suplentes jugaron con 9 futbolistas pues Menseguez, Jonathan Fabbro y Rodrigo Mora realizaron tareas kinésicas y los juveniles jugaron en reserva ante Vélez.

En referencia al equipo que dirige Gustavo Zapata, igualó 3-3 con Vélez en la Villa Olímpica con la presencia de jugadores que habitualmente concentran con la primera división, como Giovanni Simeone, Augusto Solari, Emannuel Mammana, Federico Vega, Juan Kaprof y Tomás Martínez, mientras que los goles los anotaron Kaprof, Simeone y Solari.

River, que tiene 20 puntos, enfrentará el domingo a las 21.15 -en el estadio Centenario- a Quilmes, que tiene la misma cantidad de puntos y viene de perder ante Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, de visitante.

Sampaoli es optimista

SANTIAGO DE CHILE -- El seleccionador de Chile, Jorge Sampaoli, dijo que asume con optimismo y esperanza el sorteo del Mundial de Brasil 2014, en el que su equipo quedó emparejado en el complicado grupo B, junto a España, Holanda y Australia.

"La verdad que estamos esperanzados y más allá de lo complicado, entusiasmados por enfrentar a esos equipos", dijo el argentino en declaraciones desde Brasil a medios chilenos.

"Es una zona complicada por las características de los rivales. Jugar con el último campeón del mundo siempre va a ser duro, pero debemos prepararnos para tratar de ser competitivos en un zona compleja", dijo Sampaoli, que recordó que en el grupo A está Brasil, de cara a un posible cruce en octavos de final.

El seleccionador reconoció que Chile se enfrentará a equipos con más experiencia y trayectoria en mundiales, pero subrayó que sus jugadores ya han demostrado que son capaces de hacer "grandes partidos", como el reciente triunfo sobre Inglaterra (0-2) en un amistoso.

Sampaoli dijo también que resulta un "estímulo" jugar contra algunas de las mejores selecciones del mundo, como España y Holanda.

"Nosotros tenemos que prepararnos para tratar de tener muchas posibilidades, de ser competitivos", añadió el técnico.

Argentina given very kind World Cup draw as expectation grows

Perhaps it was divine intervention from Argentine, Pope Francisco but Argentina will be pleased with their group following the World Cup draw earlier. One of the favourites for the trophy, La Albiceleste were grouped with Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iran and Nigeria in Group F.

Coach, Alejandro Sabella admitted that, ”It’s been a positive draw,” and added ”We know Bosnia because we played against them recently. I know less about Iran and as for Nigeria, we know them because we’ve played them in a few World Cups, they are very strong physically.”

Having comfortably defeated Bosnia with a second-string 11 in their most recent friendly, along with one of the lowest ranked sides in Iran and Nigeria, who Argentina have defeated in all of their three World Cup games (1994, 2002 and 2010), it is expected that Sabella’s side will comfortably top the group.

If Argentina come through this as group winners they will be paired with Group E and so will play the runners-up from a group consisting of, Switzerland, Ecuador, France and Honduras. This is also not the unkindest of draws and so a route to the Quarter Final appears very achievable.

Group F should allow Argentina to build momentum and provided they are without injury be in full flow for the sterner tasks ahead.

With a fully fit squad La Albiceleste will be a match for anyone and although question marks remain over the defence, with such attacking force they are a real candidate.

Jamaica’s Gardner still loves the game

MIAMI --- Ricardo ‘Bibi’ Gardner has been there and done it all.

He enjoyed a successful professional career with English topflight outfit Bolton Wanderers for nearly 15 glorious years. He played for Jamaica at the 1998 World Cup in France, the glistening highlight of 99 all-time international appearances.

Now, at 35 years old, what more could Gardner possibly want from a football point of view?

Believe it or not, the football-mad Jamaican, even in the twilight of his playing days, has no intention to quit anytime soon. He just can’t seem to let go. Not yet, at least.

“To be honest, it’s just the love for the game that keeps me going, and every time I think about it, I realize I have had a great career in football and I think I could give it up in now, but when the time is right, I will announce when it’s over,” said the entertaining left-sided player. “But now I think I am in great shape and form and I wish to continue as longs as possible.”

In August, Gardner was in the United States on trial with Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake, underlining his determination to get back into the game.

It seems a lifetime ago since Gardner first left Jamaica as an 18-year-old for Bolton on what was a landmark £1 million transfer from Harbour View Football Club.

His mission is the same now as it was then.

“When I left Jamaica, the focus was not only to achieve just for myself, but to show those in England that talent is in Jamaica and that we have what it takes to go out there and represent ourselves and our country,” he noted.

Getting a new club, Gardner shares, will be taking that very philosophy into extra time.

“I will be happy wherever a suitable opportunity comes from as long as I am going to enjoy it and it will be helpful not only for me but to help someone else to come through and to achieve their dream and that’s the most important thing right now,” he said.

Gardner’s move to England in 1998, following a wonderful World Cup as a precocious 19-year-old in Rene Simoes’ historic team, opened doors for many Jamaican-born footballers to follow their dream into the big time. And for that, he’s particularly proud.

“I am very humbled to look back and see that I went there and not only represented myself but for others also who took those opportunities to better their careers and also their future financially,” he beamed. “I think what we are seeing now just shows you that it’s not impossible and that we can achieve even greater if we continue to give each other the support and continue to work hard and be disciplined.”

The former national team captain last represented his country at the Caribbean Cup in December 2012. He was released by Bolton that same year after more than 400 matches for Wanderers. At the time of his departure, he was the second longest serving foreign player in the Premier League, behind Finnish teammate goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Nogle Santos Laguna fans herinde? Det er vel snart på tide at supertalentet Lacayo skal i førsteholdstruppen permanent så han kan komme med til VM.

Hold op - Costa Rica skal nok overraske, KayOkay.

Jeg synes CR er sådan et rigtigt "alt eller intet hold" lidt ligesom Chile. På deres bedste dage kan de slå alle, men der har også været kampe hvor næsten intet hænger sammen. Det kunne være dejligt hvis de gad at slå Italien og England ud.

Enig, Syntes det ser godt ud for latinoholdee og USA, det er vel ret beset kun dibbens drenge som har ryggen mod muren.

Chile, Uruguay, Ecuador og Honduras skal finde storspillet frem - men det kan de også.



Chile bør være bedre end Holland og har spillet lige op med Spanien et par gange nu - det er vel derfor Sampaoli er så optimistisk som han er.

Uruguay er vel heldige de skal spille mod de ringeste fra den europæiske subtop i Italien og England - der burde ligge 4 point der.

Costa Rica kan sagtens snuppe et par point i heden mod et hold uden temposkift som Italien.

Ecuador - virker til som et kompakt, solidt hold, kan de få sat jefferson og Fidel Martinez i scene til aflastning for Caicedo og Valencia ser det fornuftigt ud - de virker til at være kommet sig over tabet af Chucho.

Honduras, Costly, Bengtsson, RoRo, Lacayo, Rony Martinez, "Choco" Lozano skal nok pumpe et par huller i den svejsiske ost.

Honduras eller Ecuador der går videre fra den gruppe - sammen med franskmændene.

Tror også USA (og Ghana) kan gøre livet surt for Portugal og Tyskland - tror en af dem ryger ud - sandsynligvis portugiserne.

Colombia og Mexico går videre fra deres grupper, hvis de holder fokus rent mentalt.

Argentina og Brasilien går videre uden problemer.
