Pelé worried about Rio´s readiness

Brazil legend Pelé has admitted that he is worried about his country’s readiness to host two major sporting showpieces in the next four years.

When asked to compare the London 2012 Games with upcoming sports events in Brazil, the 71-year-old admitted there are "problems" with construction, communications and transport as it prepares to host the 2014 football World Cup and the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games.

He said: "At the moment, things are not great. We have a little problem with the construction.

"We will work hard, but we worry because the communication and the transport are not so good yet.

The man whom is regarded as the best player in football history and led Brazil to three of its five World Cup titles, Sweden 1958, Chile 1962 and Mexico 1970, said that "everybody knows the problem."

"People are saying it will be easy, but I do not think it will be — we have only two years," he added. "I spoke with President Dilma (Rousseff) and she said she is going to do her best to organise things, but we are not ready yet."

The Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held in four zones across the city and are being tag-lined as "A city leaps forward".

London will hand over the flame to Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympic Games during the closing ceremony on Sunday night.

Dorival pleased with Flamengo improvement

Flamengo have not had the best of league seasons so far but, with a 2-0 away win at Figueirense on Thursday night, manager Dorival Jr believes he is seeing improvement.

Flamengo opted for a new 4-3-3 system in Florianópolis, bringing in the sprightly Negueba and creative Thomás in support of Vagner Love in attack. The move reaped rewards for the Rubro-Negro with the centre-forward bagging two goals for his side.

The game also saw an improved performance from Flamengo´s midfield, with the hard-working trio of Luiz Antônio, Renato Abreu and Victor Caceres, later Muralha, looking much better than in recent games, giving solidity to what is a weak back-line.

"It´s important that the team are facing up to what must be done," Dorival told Lancenet!. "It´s possible to see an improvement over the last few games. The team were more combative, exchanged passes and retained possession."

Asked whether the win marked the end of Flamengo´s bad run of form, he added: "I ask the fans for patience. The team will fluctuate a lot."

Det er jo en klassisk kamp - Mexicanerne har som regel ganske godt styr på Brasilien, men taber altid til Argentina, mens Brasilien plejer at have overhånden når det kommer til Argentina - det er sådan mønsteret plejer at være...


Hehehe plejer ikke have noget mod accenter - men hans er decideret malplaceret - i bedste brasser stil burde han have et kælenavn - jeg foreslår Retardinho :-)
