San Lorenzo continúa con la rotación

Romagnoli no fue titular en los últimos dos partidos de San Lorenzo
BUENOS AIRES -- San Lorenzo no tiene descanso y, por eso, Edgardo Bauza continúa apelando a la rotación y realizará tres modificaciones para el partido ante Rosario Central.

Con Néstor Ortigoza suspendido por haber sido expulsado ante River, volverá al primer equipo Leandro Romagnoli. Mientras tanto, también regresan Emmanuel Más y Mauro Matos, en lugar de Walter Kannemann y Nicolás Blandi, respectivamente.

De esta maner, los once titulares serán: Sebastián Torrico; Julio Buffarini, Carlos Valdés, Santiago Gentiletti, Emmanuel Mas; Ángel Correa, Juan Mercier, Enzo Kalinski, Ignacio Piatti; Leandro Romagnoli; Mauro Matos.

San Lorenzo recibirá a Rosario Central desde las 19:10 hs. del jueves, con el arbitraje de Andrés Merlos. Será el primero de los tres partidos que el "Ciclón" afrontará en los próximos seis días, ya que el domingo visitará a Godoy Cruz en Mendoza y, luego, el miércoles, recibirá a Unión Española de Chile, por la Copa Libertadores

Ariel Rojas, de River: "Ahora hay que seguir por este camino"

BUENOS AIRES -- El volante de River Plate, Ariel Rojas, aseguró en conferencia de prensa tras el entrenamiento del miércoles en el Monumental que disfruta "del triunfo ante San Lorenzo" del último domingo, aunque aclaró que debe mostrar "regularidad en su rendimiento".
Rojas, quien ni siquiera había concentrado en el torneo y que fue titular frente al Ciclón, fue ratificado por el entrenador de cara al partido del jueves contra Tigre.

"Va a ser un encuentro difícil, por eso lo de San Lorenzo quedó atrás y tenemos que concentrarnos en lo que viene", señaló el jugador.

El volante además explicó que "cuando estás afuera del equipo y te toca volver deseas que las cosas te salgan bien, por eso lo del domingo fue algo lindo y lo disfruté, fue algo importante porque el equipo ganó y tanto yo como (Augusto) Solari, por ejemplo, que no veníamos jugando, le rendimos al equipo".

Por último, aseveró que estaba esperado su oportunidad y aclaró: "En lo personal, cuando está afuera del equipo tenés que trabajar y sumar para el grupo para estar bien cuando te toca entrar. Por suerte se dio así y ahora hay que seguir por este camino".

En relación con su futuro, Rojas enfatizó que tiene ganas de permanecer en River mucho tiempo y anticipó: "Mi deseo más grande es quedarme en el club y poder conseguir títulos. Ojalá pueda conseguirlo en esta temporada".

Rojas llegó al club en la temporada 2012, cuando River le compró a Godoy Cruz el 50 por ciento el pase, y desde entonces nunca tuvo regularidad: jugó 44 partidos y convirtió sólo 4 goles en las dos temporadas que ya lleva en el Millonario.

Marcelo Vidal, "esperando volver a jugar" en Independiente

BUENOS AIRES -- El mediocampista central de Independiente Marcelo Vidal, pieza clave en el funcionamiento del equipo de Omar De Felippe, reaparecería frente a Huracán, por la vigésimo séptima fecha de la B Nacional, luego de recuperarse de una lesión en la rodilla.

"Yo ya estoy a consideración del técnico y esperando volver a jugar, con muchas ganas y esperando revertir este presente", dijo Vidal en una entrevista televisiva.

Vidal, quien fue uno de los mejores jugadores en la parte final del semestre pasado, en el que Independiente consiguió sus mejores resultados, aún no tuvo minutos en lo que del año y volvería al equipo ante el "Globo", en Avellaneda, en lugar del juvenil Franco Bellocq.

"Lo que mas me preocupa es que no estamos pudiendo ganar. Esto es un grupo y tenemos que estar unidos", advirtió Vidal.

Para el volante central, el Rojo padece de "un poquito de falta de confianza, pero esto es así, es duro y hay que corregir errores para tratar de ganar un partido duro con Huracán".

Pese a la dura derrota frente a su homónimo mendocino, la segunda de manera consecutiva, y a que acumula cuatro partidos sin victorias, Independiente continúa en puestos de ascenso, dos unidades por encima de Atlético de Tucumán.

Luego de recibir a Huracán, Independiente tendrá otro muy duro examen ya que visitará al líder Banfield.

Tigre: Ramiro Leone, titular ante River

BUENOS AIRES -- Tras ocupar un lugar en el banco de suplentes ante Quilmes, el mediocampista Ramiro Leone volverá a la titularidad en el partido que Tigre disputará ante River, en la noche del jueves.

El mediocampista zurdo estará a disposición de Fabián Alegre por primera vez en el Torneo Final, luego de haberse desgarrado durante la pretemporada. Su posición será en su habitual puesto de volante por el sector izquierdo.

Además, ingresarán Lucas Vesco, Emiliano Ellacopulos, Joaquin Arzura y Ariel Nahuelpán en lugar de Facundo Sánchez, Lucas Wilches, Marcos Gelabert y Pablo Vitti, respectivamente.

En definitiva, los once que saldrían desde el inicio serían: Javier García; Lucas Vesco, Ignacio Canuto, Erik Godoy y Guillermo Cosaro; Emiliano Ellacopulos, Joaquín Arzura, Diego Castaño y Ramiro Leone; Matías Pérez García; Ariel Nahuelpán.

Tigre recibirá a River desde las 22:10 hs. del jueves, con el arbitraje de Fernando Echenique. El "Matador" no venció a River en los anteriores cinco enfrentamientos, siendo el histórico 5-1 en el Monumental del Clausura 2010, el último antecedente.

Golazo’s Torneo Final February Awards

A little later than planned, but after missing a month (or two) at the end of the Torneo Inicial, it is a case of better late than never. With the opening month of the Torneo Final over and plenty of entertaining and surprising results, the choice of Manager, Player and Goal of the Month are revealed.

With the Copa Libertadores and midweek rounds to get the Torneo Final finished earlier than possible, the games have been coming thick and fast and as expected this has taken its toll on a number of sides.

As predicted prior to the opening weekend, this should result in one of the most open title races since, well the Torneo Inicial but perhaps even more so.

All five of Argentina’s Libertadores representatives have shown signs of strain and so a host of other sides have aspirations of lifting the hideous Torneo Final trophy.

However, even the supposedly more predictable relegation contenders have suddenly found form resulting in a number of surprising results and even more surprising leaders of the Torneo Final table.

MANAGER OF THE MONTH

With what has just been written in mind, there can be only one winner in this field, despite notable mentions to Jorge Almirón for leading Godoy Cruz to three victories in February and Mauricio Pellegrino for his strong start with Estudiantes.

Colón, who almost unanimously it was agreed would go down (they still might) and who have been blighted by off-field problems, have made an incredible start to the tournament and currently lead the standings. Manager, Diego Osella has to take enormous credit for this particularly after the opening weekend, where his side where well beaten in Avellaneda by Racing and confirmed most people’s pre-Torneo predictions.

However, in their next match against relegation rivals, Argentinos Juniors, Gabriel Graciani ended a goalless spell of over 9 hours earning his side a 1-0 win and they have not looked back. Wins against Quilmes and then a famous victory in El Monumental against River Plate sent Colón up the table and more importantly lifted them out of the relegation zone.

Colón are suddenly scoring goals and keeping clean sheets and based on how they looked just a matter of weeks ago, this is a feat worthy of praise.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Once again there are several candidates here and the aforementioned Gabriel Graciani deserves a mention for ending Colón’s goal drought and then following it up with a belter against Quilmes (see below) and two against River Plate. I also doff my hat to Tigre’s normally hapless goalkeeper, Javier García. Four clean sheets is to be commended and perhaps if Tigre could actually score some goals they might win more games.

However, the player leading the goal scoring charts has helped Vélez Sarsfield climb to second in the table and a perfect start to the Copa Libertadores. Mauro Zárate was a big signing when he returned to Argentina before the Torneo Inicial but injury hampered his form last term. This season, as his partnership with Lucas Pratto has blossomed so has his goal return. Five in five for the former Birmingham City and Lazio front man bodes well for Vélez if they can keep him fit.

GOAL OF THE MONTH

There are two obvious contenders here and both involve Colón. Firstly, from the opening weekend during Racing’s comprehensive victory, Valentín Viola scored this superb bicycle kick.

Alvaro Pereira´s close-range finish was enough to secure Uruguay a 1-1 draw against a tenacious Austria side in Klagenfurt.

Trabzonspor striker Marc Janko opened the scoring for the hosts after 14 minutes, capitalising on Zlatko Junuzovic´s flick, while Marko Arnautovic should have added a second a few minutes later but was denied by the post.

Luis Suarez then cannoned a free-kick off the crossbar just before the break as Uruguay responded, before Pereira pounced on a goalmouth scramble to equalise midway through the second half.

Suarez nearly scored a winner with another menacing free-kick late on, but the World Cup-bound visitors could not break through a determined Austrian rearguard.

Austria coach Marcel Koller named a strong side, eager to begin his side´s preparations for their UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying campaign early.

Despite missing Paris Saint-Germain´s Edinson Cavani with a thigh injury, Uruguay still named a talented starting line-up, with record cap holder Diego Forlan making his 108th international appearance.

The hosts began brightly, with Arnautovic sending a vicious half-volley over the crossbar within five minutes.

And they were rewarded for their early efforts when striker Janko latched onto a clever backheel from Junuzovic to drill a low shot past Fernando Muslera.

They nearly doubled their lead five minutes later, as David Alaba´s free-kick forced Muslera into a stunning save, before Arnautovic lashed the rebound off the post and wide.

Uruguay began to settle as the first half wore on and they were nearly level in spectacular fashion when the in-form Suarez sent a 30-yard free-kick clattering off the crossbar.

The Liverpool striker was in the thick of things once again 15 minutes before the break, flicking Cristian Rodriguez´s set-piece into the path of Jose Maria Giminez, who looped his effort over the crossbar from point-blank range.

Austria continued to attack themselves, though, and they nearly had an unlikely second just before the break when Alaba´s audacious lob forced another brilliant save from Muslera.

As Uruguay pressed at the start of the second half, Suarez nearly made them pay when he burst clean through before forcing a smart save from Robert Almer.

And parity was finally restored five minutes later when the hosts failed to deal with teasing free-kick from the left and Gimenez´s flick found substitute Pereira, who tapped home.

Suarez curled another free-kick just wide late on as the visitors pressed for a winner, but they were forced to settle for a draw.
