Com empréstimo até maio, o jogador terá seus direitos comprados pelo rubro-negro

O Flamengo acertou a renovação de contrato do atacante Paulinho. O jogador está emprestado junto ao XV de Piracicaba até o dia 31 de maio e terá 60% de seus direitos econômicos adquiridos pelo rubro-negro pelo valor de R$1 milhão.

No momento do empréstimo, Flamengo e Paulinho já haviam assinado um pré-contrato de três anos. Porém, o bom rendimento do jogador desde que chegou ao clube fez a diretoria renegociar esse acordo, acrescendo mais um ano de vínculo.

Alan Kardec edges closer to permanent Palmeiras deal

Reports in the Brazilian media are suggesting that striker Alan Kardec has agreed in principal to move to Palmeiras on a permanent deal after his loan spell at the club from Benfica.

Kardec has been a revelation for the newly-promoted giants and his future has been the pressing issue at the club- even more so after topping the Paulista state championship scoring charts.

Lance are suggesting that the fee Palmeiras will pay to Portuguese team Benfica will be around the €4 million mark and that the transfer will happen by the end of May.

Kardec has been mooted as a ´bolter´ to Luiz Felipe Scolari´s World Cup squad as he has impressed so much at Palmeiras, but it is thought that any call up would be dependant on injuries to other contenders.

Jefferson the key for Botafogo in Libertadores

Botafogo face a crucial Copa Libertadores group game this evening in the knowledge that victory would guarantee the Brazilian club a passage into the next stage of South America´s leading club competition.

Goalkeeper Jefferson has been a major reason for the club´s performances in this season´s tournament to date and will no doubt have a big say in the outcome of the game against San Lorenzo of Argentina.

Jefferson´s role at Botafogo has been highlighted by teammate Juan Carlos Ferreyra, who told Lance: "Jefferson is our benchmark, our captain. He´s a great player and a leader of the group, which helps alot."

Defaet for the side from Rio de Janeiro would spell disaster for them as their opponents would overtake them in the Group 2 table and themselves go through to the next round.

The big questions left for Big Phil as Brazil squad takes shape

In just over a month, Luiz Felipe Scolari will name his provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup. On June 2, he will whittle the group down to 23 men, who will be handed the task of discharging what has come to be seen as a national obligation: winning the thing on home soil.
Brazil awaits the decision with bated breath. Every man, woman and child will have their say in the coming weeks. As bossa nova pioneer Tom Jobim once remarked, “You need balls of steel to be a football manager in a country that has 150 million of them.”

Happily for the Seleção, Felipão is not a man to doubt his convictions. He, technical director Carlos Alberto Parreira and trusted lieutenant Murtosa, have long since settled upon a formula that suits them. One senses that the three men – two of whom are already World Cup winners, of course – are not losing a great deal of sleep over their selection. Not as much as the coaches of other countries, at any rate.

The Confederations Cup was designed as a logistical dress rehearsal for World Cup host countries. But with stadium delays and stunted infrastructure hitting the headlines on a daily basis, the real legacy of that tournament is likely to be on the pitch. For it was last summer, after years of drudgery (under Dunga) and tentative, stuttering emergence (under Mano Menezes), that Brazil became Brazil again.

The majority of the squad will be maintained. Even the starting XI is unlikely to look too different from that which swept Spain aside at the Maracanã. The back five – Júlio César, Daniel Alves, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Marcelo – is nailed on, barring injury. Neymar, Oscar and Hulk will line up behind a more conventional striker – Fred, if he’s fit.

Only in midfield could things change a touch. Luiz Gustavo was superb in his first tournament in canary yellow, earning rave reviews from Scolari and being labelled a “dream defensive midfielder” by newspaper Folha de S. Paulo. But he could well be usurped by Fernandinho, who has caught Scolari’s eye with a series of dynamic performances in the Premier League with Manchester City. The former Shakhtar Donetsk man shone in the friendly against South Africa last month and offers slightly more quality in possession, taking the pressure off David Luiz to start attacks from the backline.

There is also a small question mark over Paulinho. Regarded as a shoo-in since he first claimed a place in the side two years ago, his goals have dried up during an underwhelming first season in England. With Ramires now back in Scolari’s good books after some poor time-keeping cost him a place in the Confederations Cup squad, the Tottenham midfielder’s grip on a starting spot may be loosening.

Elsewhere, the level of competition in the squad will be higher than it was a year ago. Willian and Maicon are likely to come in for the jettisoned Jádson and Jean, while the form of Maxwell and Dante is another boon. Only up front is there a slight worry, with neither Fred nor Jô firing on all cylinders at present.

Scolari has been in Europe this last night fortnight to take one last look at some of the players hoping to force their way into his plans. Realistically, only one or two places remain up for grabs, making it likely that some or all of Sandro, Lucas Leiva, Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Moura, Hernanes and Kaká will miss out. Brazil-based players like Alexandre Pato, Leandro Damião and Paulo Henrique Ganso all appear to have missed the boat too.

Suddenly, from a position of relative weakness just a couple of years ago, Brazil have enviable strength in depth. After he negotiates the selection maze, Felipão’s next task will be to nurture the same team spirit that proved so influential last summer. For a man so adept at creating the fabled ´Família Scolari´, that might just be the easier task of the two.

Corinthians pode perder Guerrero e Cássio

Dois dos heróis do bi mundial do Corinthians pode deixar o Parque São Jorge no meio do ano. Segundo informações do “Jogo Aberto”, da Band, Guerrero e Cássio estão na mira de outros clubes para a próxima janela de transferências. O atacante interessa ao Boca Juniors, da Argentina, e o goleiro, segundo o comentarista Ronaldo Giovaneli, recebeu sondagens. A origem ainda é desconhecida.

O interesse do Boca por Guerrero partiu do técnico Carlos Bianchi, que pediu a contratação do peruano. A notícia repercutiu tanto na imprensa argentina quanto na do Peru. O atacante tem contrato até julho de 2015 com o Corinthians.

Guerrero marcou os dois gols das duas vitórias do Corinthians no Mundial de Clubes de 2012. Desde então, não conseguiu repetir as boas atuações. Recentemente, foi apontado como um dos agredidos por torcedores em invasão ao centro de treinamento do Timão. Apesar de o presidente do clube dizer que Guerrero foi esganado por um torcedor, o próprio atacante negou a versão, assim como o companheiro de clube Romarinho.

Det eneste minus ved hende, er at hun er rødglødende Internacional fan. Men men, det er sundt med lidt passion, ikke det der plastik, men local-passion. Hun blev Miss Brasil i 1999 og er stadig et godt stykke kød.

Hvor mange år har der egentligt været mexicanske klubber med i Libertadores? Og hvilke?

Når de synes så relativt dominerende både i årets turnering og generelt på u-landsholdene, kan det undre, at der kun er to af slagsen med? Den pengestærke Liga MX er altså efterhånden på niveau med Sydamerikas to bedste, som har 6 hhv. 5 klubber med.
- Vi er vel ude i en slags gæstepladser, ligesom Copa América gør med Mexico og USA.

I øvrigt imponerende, at alle 5 argentinske klubber ligger til at gå videre. Kun tvivl om Newell´s, som i nat tager imod de kaffebryggende nationalister i en direkte gruppefinale. Must see-kamp.

Fantastisk at San Lorenzo er gået videre i Copa Libertadores. Botafogo er røget ud, men det er selvfølgelig ikke overraskende. Som jeg tidligere skrev herinde, så er der klart mere talent på San Lorenzos hold end på Botafogo. Og det er tydeligt bevist. Syndt for Deportivo FAS at Rio holdene Flamengo og Botafogo er røget ud, men de er simpelthen ikke bedre for tiden.
