Pedro Troglio: "Estamos bien para pelear el último tramo"

LA PLATA -- El DT del líder Gimnasia La Plata, Pedro Troglio, expresó el viernes que su equipo está "muy bien" para afrontar las últimas tres jornadas del Torneo Final, en busca del primer campeonato local en la historia del club, en la previa del partido del domingo ante Lanús, como local, por la fecha 17.

"Estamos bien para pelear el último tramo, veo bien a los jóvenes y a los grandes. Me siento muy bien representado por este equipo, y los veo muy bien, ojalá se pueda plasmar en la cancha", manifestó Troglio en conferencia de prensa.

En ese sentido, Troglio dijo que sus dirigidos también están "ansiosos" para la recta final del certamen, pero indicó que también dependerán del factor fortuna: "A veces depende de la pelota que pega en el palo y puede ir afuera o adentro".

El exvolante del seleccionado argentino de fútbol, subcampeón en el Mundial Italia 1990, también se refirió a los hermanos Guillermo y Gustavo Barros Schelotto, quienes se iniciaron como futbolistas en Gimnasia, pero el domingo serán rivales como cuerpo técnico de Lanús.

"Sería una locura que la gente cuestione a los Mellizos en caso de que gane Lanús. No creo que la gente los cuestione", apuntó el exmediocampista de River y Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata.

Y agregó: "Me pongo en el lugar de Guillermo, y por más que ames a un club con la vida, no podés decirle a tus jugadores: `soy hincha de Gimnasia y no le ganen`, eso no sirve, después no te contratan más".

Para Troglio son los futbolistas quienes deciden la suerte del marcador en un partido: "Ellos son los que entran a la cancha, y no los mellizos; los jugadores juegan como ellos quieren".

En tanto, para el entrenador de Gimnasia los medios de comunicación no hicieron un tratamiento de una cuestión similar con el enfrentamiento entre el escolta River y Racing Club: "No veo que se hable de la misma manera, de (Reinaldo) Merlo contra River. Los DT no entran a jugar".

En cuanto a las especulaciones, Troglio también se tomó con buen humor la simpatía de la presidente Cristina Fernández por Gimnasia La Plata: "Gimnasia se fue al descenso con esta presidenta y no ascendimos enseguida. Me da bronca todo esto que se habla, pero llegamos hasta acá sin la ayuda de nadie".

Gimnasia es líder del torneo Final con 30 puntos y tiene como escoltas a River Plate y Godoy Cruz de Mendoza que reúnen 28 unidades. Sus inmediatos perseguidores incluyen también a Colón de Santa Fe (27), Estudiantes La Plata y Lanús (26), San Lorenzo (24), Vélez, Olimpo de Bahía Blanca y Boca (23).

"En este final de torneo hay seis, siete, u ocho equipos que tienen chances, pero solo uno saldrá campeón y entre todos los equipos hay grandes figuras, jugadores que fueron campeones y que quedarán en el camino", manifestó Troglio.

LA PRÁCTICA DEL VIERNES
El plantel de Gimnasia se entrenó esta mañana en el predio de Estancia Chica, a puertas cerradas, donde Troglio confirmó el equipo: Fernando Monetti; Facundo Oreja, Osvaldo Barsottini, Juan C. Blengio y Lucas Licht; Maximiliano Meza, Omar Pouso, Franco Mussis y Javier Mendoza; Alvaro Fernández; y Facundo Pereyra.

De esta manera, Pouso, que cumplió una fecha de suspensión ingresará por Dardo Miloc.

En tanto, el lateral Gastón Dí­az sufrió una ruptura fibrilar en el isquiotibial izquierdo y se perderá al menos los próximos dos partidos.

El resto de los concentrados para recibir a Lanús son: Pablo Bangardino, Maximiliano Coronel, Oliver Benítez, Dardo Miloc, Ignacio Fernández, Gustavo Bou, Rodrigo Contreras y Luis Peralta.

Los dirigidos por Pedro Troglio regresarán el sábado a los entrenamientos, desde las 9.30, en el predio de Estancia Chica, en trabajo con pelota detenida, a puertas cerradas.

Gimnasia La Plata, líder del torneo Final con 30 unidades, recibirá el domingo a Lanús (26), desde las 17.10, en partido válido por la fecha 17ma., que será arbitrado por Darío Herrera, en el estadio Juan Carlos Zerillo.

Gimnasia: se desgarró Gastón Díaz; Pouso vuelve por Miloc

LA PLATA -- El mediocampista uruguayo Omar Pouso ingresará por Dardo Miloc en el único cambio que presentará el líder del torneo Final, Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata para recibir a Lanús, de acuerdo a lo expuesto en la práctica del jueves en el predio de Abasto, donde se desgarró el defensor Gastón Díaz.

El DT Pedro Troglio ensayó la formación titular para el domingo con esa variante respecto de la victoria pasada ante Argentinos Juniors, en La Paternal.

Así, los once para recibir a Lanús serán: Fernando Monetti; Facundo Oreja, Osvaldo Barsottini, Juan Carlos Blengio y Lucas Licht; Maximiliano Meza, Pouso, Franco Mussis y Javier Mendoza; Alvaro Fernández y Facundo Pereyra.

Pouso retornará al equipo luego de cumplir una fecha de suspensión por la tarjeta roja vista ante All Boys, pero deberá cuidarse de no recibir una amonestación, caso contrario llegará al límite y no jugará el partido siguiente con Quilmes.

La mala noticia del día para Gimnasia fue la lesión sufrida este jueves por Gastón Díaz, desgarrado en el bíceps de la pierna derecha y casi descartado para el resto de la temporada.

Su baja le ocasiona un problema a Troglio porque, aunque no es titular, se trata de un jugador al que recurre con frecuencia para ocupar la banda derecha tanto de lateral como volante.

Gimnasia, líder con 30 puntos y dos de ventaja respecto de River y Godoy Cruz de Mendoza, volverá a entrenarse mañana a puertas cerradas y el sábado quedará concentrado para el partido del domingo a las 17 frente a Lanús.

En la jornada del feriado por el Día del Trabajador, los hinchas comenzaron con la demanda de entradas en el estadio del Bosque y ya adquirieron más de 6.500 localidades.

La venta de bonos para socios, que por disposición de la dirigencia se venden en conjunto para los dos partidos ante Lanús y Boca, continuará el viernes en las mismas boleterías.

Además, por disposición de la Agencia de Prevención de Violencia en el Deporte (APREVIDE), no habrá expendio el día del partido.

Racing: Zuculini descartado; Hauche-Vietto en ataque

BUENOS AIRES -- El mediocampista Bruno Zuculini quedó descartado por lesión y los delanteros Luciano Vietto y Gabriel Hauche conformarán la dupla ofensiva de Racing para visitar a River Plate, el domingo próximo, por la 17ma. fecha del torneo Final.

En el ensayo futbolístico realizado el viernes, el DT Reinaldo Mostaza Merlo ratificó a ambos delanteros, luego de haber probado dos días antes a los juveniles Roger Martínez y Juan Dinenno.

En efecto, Vietto por Dinenno y Gastón Campi por Martínez serán las dos variantes de la formación inicial respecto de la pasada derrota con Quilmes (1-0) en Avellaneda.

Zuculini quedó descartado porque no se recuperó del esguince de tobillo; mientras que Rodrigo De Paul se mantendrá en el equipo pese a su reciente venta al Valencia de España.

Sebastián Saja; Esteban Saveljich, Yonathan Cabral, Matí­as Cahais y Claudio Corvalán; Diego Villar, Francisco Cerro, Campi y De Paul; Hauche y Vietto serán los once en el Monumental.

Racing, que marcha 16to. en el campeonato local con 16 unidades, se impuso en su última visita a River por 1-0 (gol de Matías Cahais), por la octava fecha del torneo Inicial 2012.

Caruso Lombardi: "Hay muchos técnicos que venden humo"

BUENOS AIRES -- El entrenador de Quilmes, Ricardo Caruso Lombardi, resaltó que "hay muchos que tocan el violín y venden humo", en referencia al director técnico de Argentinos Juniors, Claudio Borghi, tras la victoria clave de su equipo, en su lucha para evitar el descenso, ante el conjunto de la Paternal que ya perdió la categoría.

"Si me hubiese quedado en Argentinos con algunos refuerzos hubiese hecho una gran campaña, pero hay muchos que tocan el violín y venden humo. Que hablan de muchas fantasías como de traer jugadores que estén identificados con el club", indicó Caruso.

Y siguió: "Creo que no hay nadie más identificado que yo con Argentinos, pero claro, soy Caruso, no tengo gran cartel y todos se dejan llevar por los grandes nombres".

"Es hora de que todos, incluido el periodismo, empiecen a reconocer todo lo que he hecho porque hay muchos periodistas que hablan del `fulbito` y no ven las cosas como son realmente", completó.

Luego el entrenador quilmeño recordó: "No se tienen que olvidar que dejé a Argentinos con 25 puntos y me fui porque quería descansar. Después apareció Aníbal Fernández para que venga a Quilmes".

"Soy uno de los que más siente el descenso de Argentinos porque me hice jugador ahí y me dio la posibilidad de debutar y dirigir en Primera. Vivo a 7 cuadras de la cancha, lo he salvado del descenso y dejé formado el equipo que peleó la Sudamericana y el que salió campeón", destacó.

Después subrayó: "En San Lorenzo llevé la base del equipo que salió campeón. Todos critican a Caruso por la manera de jugar de mis equipos, pero nadie reconoce lo bueno que hice y cada uno se tiene que hacer cargo del equipo que conduce, como me hago cargo de Quilmes".

"Si me voy al descenso lo voy a hacer dejando lo mejor para el equipo. En Argentinos dejé un plantel con tres o cuatro jugadores que se tenían que ir y el presidente (Luis Segura) hizo bien en dejarlos ir, pero después desarmaron todo lo que hice y eso no es culpa de Caruso", dijo en su defensa.

Hernán Barcos fue agredido por hinchas del Gremio

PORTO ALEGRE -- Hernán Barcos, el delantero argentino de Gremio de Brasil, admitió el viernes que tras la eliminación ante San Lorenzo por la Copa Libertadores de América fue agredido por un grupo de hinchas del equipo gaúcho.

"Estaba con mi hija, se pusieron agresivos y le pegaron al auto, así que les contesté los insultos. Me quedé quieto y me subí­ al auto, para irme a mi casa. Después se me hizo muy difícil dormir. Recién pude a las cinco de la mañana", afirmó el delantero.

Barcos, quien tuvo las mejores ocasiones en el partido ante San Lorenzo y a quien el arquero Sebastián Torrico le detuvo el tiro penal en la serie desde los doce pasos, explicó el viernes el incidente en una conferencia de prensa.

"No tengo nada contra la gente. Sé que fueron pocos, pero deben aprender a respetarnos porque tenemos familias. Dicen que me tengo que ir del club. El día que los hinchas me echen de algún lado, abandono el fútbol y me dedico a otra cosa. Los hinchas no mandan en un club. Lo voy a aceptar si me quiere despedir el presidente", concluyó el capitán de Gremio.

Vergara: ´´La Volpe Showed Up in a Towel With no Clothes´´

Chivas of Guadalajara and its owner Jorge Vergara are no strangers to controversial situations, but this one with their now former manager Ricardo La Volpe might be the biggest one since the business man bought the historic Mexican club over ten years ago.

Vergara did a radio interview on Friday morning with Mexico´s Radio Formula in which he revealed an alleged sexual harassment incident between Ricardo La Volpe and the anonymous podiatrist.

The Argentine manager, who held a press conference on Thursday evening to give his side of the story, had claimed that he heard rumors of the team podiatrist giving massages. La Volpe also claimed he went to investigate if the rumors were true and that he in fact found them to be true. The former Mexican National Team manager said he would not allow this and that the podiatrist had to stop giving massages.

Vergara also stated in the same radio interview on Friday morning that the manager had gone to club president Juan Manuel Herrero and admitted his mistake in hopes of putting the incident behind. Vergara also said that Herrero will now have to give an official statement to law enforcement for the legal case that is being build against La Volpe.

Finally, the owner mentioned that deep down La Volpe knows what he did was wrong and that is why the manager signed the termination papers. He also made it clear that the podiatrist will not be making any statements or face the press in any manner.

For now, it is just the word of Ricardo Antonio La Volpe against the word of Jorge Vergara and it will be up to the authorities and courts to dig through the details and see who is telling the truth.

Santos vs Club America: The Goal Fest Heads North

The Clausura 2014 quarterfinals enters its decisive stage as the second leg matches kickoff on Saturday evening. Last season´s runners-up finishers Club America visit the northern state of Coahuila to face Santos Laguna. after obtaining a 5-3 win in the first leg match.

The match is scheduled for Saturday April 3rd at 10pm EST and will be shown live in the USA on Univision Deportes Network.

Wednesday night´s game provided plenty of drama with the visiting Santos holding a 1-3 lead in the early minutes of the second half and the home side finding a way back with more determination and pride than with quality football.

Saturday´s match in Torreon promises to bring more of the same entertainment as the home side will need to attack from the start to make up the two goal deficit. The visitors on the other hand won´t be able to rely on their defense to get them through the second leg, so they too will come out looking for more goals.

THE FIGHT CONTINUES FOR SANTOS

When Ribair Rodriguez netted the third Santos goal at the Esatdio Azteca relatively early in the second half, it all seemed like Santos would be wrapping up the series in the first leg before returning home. But the frustration of giving up the lead and walking away with a 5-3 loss was too much for Santos manager Pedro Caixinha to handle.

The Portuguese manager was reported as looking for a post match fight with Club America manager Antonio "Turco" Mohamed. The northern Mexican team will have to take out those frustrations out on the field on Saturday evening.

Santos are in need of two goals in order to be able to advance to the semifinals. Santos is great in the attacking portions of the field and a two goal deficit should be somewhat manageable for the Comarca attack. The problem for the green and whites comes in their defensive line. Throughout the entire season they have given up cheap goals in both Liga MX and Copa Libertadores.

CLUB AMERICA 90 MINUTES AWAY FROM FIFTH CONSECUTIVE SEMIFINAL

Club America head into the second leg match with a two goal advantage as they seek to qualify into their fifth consecutive semifinals. When former manager Miguel Herrera took over the club he managed to raise the team from the lower half of the table all the way into two consecutive semifinals. That was then followed by two consecutive trips to the final where he won one and lost another. For new manager Antonio "Turco" Mohamed to reach the final four would be respectable, despite all of the growing pains the club has endured this season.

For the most part Mohamed has tried to continue on what Herrera had build at the club for two years, including using the same tactical formation of the now Mexican National Team manager. But for the return leg the Mexico City giants might do away with the Herrera favorite five man defensive line and use a more Mohamed style four man defense.

Club America will be without center-back Francisco Javier "Maza" Rodriguez. The defender was shown a red card seconds before the final whistle of the first leg for an obscene gesture; he allegedly grabbed his testicles in the celebration of America´s fifth goal. The manager might use this opportunity to change the system up.

Pumas vs Pachuca: Return Leg Preview. Pumas Look to Seal the Series

After a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Hidalgo, Pumas head into their home leg with the slender 1-0 lead on away goals, and thus the tie. Pumas will try to ice the series at the Estadio Universitario on Sunday at 6 PM Eastern Time (3:00 PM Pacific). Los Tuzos, can advance with a win or any scored draw that is at least 2-2. Pumas, can advance with a win themselves, as well on a 0-0 or 1-1 draw. If the 1-1 draw happens, Pumas will advance as they are the higher seed. The match kicks off at 6 PM ET (3 PM Pacific Time) on Univision Deportes Network.

--PUMAS UNAM PREVIEW--

The third seeded Club Universidad appeared to find a solution for Clausura-leading goalscorer Enner Valencia that worked--take away the space afforded to the Ecuadorian and force Pachuca to attack from wide areas.

For much of the first 75 minutes of the match, Pumas looked like they were going to take wave after wave of Pachuca attack. Once Daniel Luduena entered the match, Pachuca were able to string their passes together to build up an attack that would test Oscar Perez´s goal. Although Pumas would not get their equalizer until the final kick of the match, Luduena proved to be both the calming influence on the ball and creative force that Pumas needed.

Despite the win, manager Jose Luis Trejo complained about the return leg not being at 12 PM local time, the time at which Pumas were accustomed to playing their Sunday matches. The manager might have expected to use the hot May Mexico City temperatures to frustrate the away side. But it might buy just slightly more time for leading goal-scorer Martin Bravo and captain Dario Veron to make their returns to the lineup (though there is no official update to their status for Sunday´s match. If the two come back, they could provide steadying influence for a Pumas fanbase, whose traveling ultras fought with Pachuca fans after the opening leg to raise their level of passion at the Estadio Olimpico Universitario.

--PACHUCA PREVIEW--

The match could really boil down into two halves--one before Daniel Luduena entered the match, and one after it. Before the playmaker entered, Pachuca controlled the flow of the match and had a number of chances on goal, including a penalty kick opportunity. But as was the story the last week of the Clausura regular season, Enner Valencia has lost his scoring form. Whether he was simply deployed too deep in Enrique Meza´s 4-2-3-1, or he had been "figured out," and teams, including Pumas, figured out how to defend him, or he picked up an injury, Valencia´s dip in form should be a concern to Tuzos supporters. But Meza told media after Thursday´s opening leg that an injury might be to blame. If the injury keeps Valencia out of Sunday´s match, Enrique Esqueda may see a larger role than he had previously expected.

But other players, including Jurgen Damm, Hirving Lozano, Rodolfo Pizarro, and Walter Ayovi will need to be much more influential in the holding midfield, and be willing to interchange as to vary the positions from which they attack Miguel Palacios more. Meza might want to encourage his team to press Pumas higher up the pitch, and counter-attack occasionally rather than attack with 7-8 Pumas players behind the ball.

One player who could come back to the Pachuca lineup could be Efrain Cortes. The Colombian center back was a game-time decision for the opening leg, and might be ready for Sunday. Regardless of whether Cortes is available, Meza´s men must continue to be disciplined. Meza noted, "We did good things, but we must remember that every minute has 60 seconds." Losing focus for any one of those sixty seconds could put the tie out of reach for the Tuzos.

Jep, kunne ikke lade være mere og kan huske det blev diskuteret herinde tidligere, så det var ret nemt at finde frem til jer. Jeg tror immervæk også det kommer til at øge min interesse for sydamerikansk fodbold. Jeg skal bare lige have fundet det rigtige hold at holde med i Brasilien. Jeg må tage en "udflugt", som den jeg tog til Costa Rica for efterhånden en del år siden. Jeg har et par af mine studiekammerater, der lige nu er i enten Rio eller Fortaleza (ved de skal være begge steder på deres tur til Brasilien). Jeg er sgu lidt misundelig på dem. Det er dog ikke så godt planlagt at de rejser hjem en uge inden VM starter.
