Cambiasso afirmó que su futuro en All Boys no depende del dinero

BUENOS AIRES -- El arquero, capitán y referente de All Boys, Nicolás Cambiasso, aseguró este viernes tras el empate sin goles ante Belgrano de Córdoba, en Floresta, que su continuidad en el club no depende de "la plata" y agradeció al público por la cálida despedida a pesar de perder la categoría.

"Soy hincha de este club, hace siete años y medio que estoy, para lo que haga con mi futuro en el club la plata nunca va a ser un problema, este recuerdo permanecerá en mi alma hasta el día que me muera" señaló el arquero que estuvo en los ascensos de la B Metropolitana a la B Nacional y de esta a la máxima categoría del fútbol argentino.

Además el arquero agradeció el aliento que brindó la gente: "A pesar de que el equipo pierde la categoría, la gente nos dio una linda despedida pero no pudimos darle una alegría. Esta gente hermosa es lo mejor que tiene este club".

En cuanto al encuentro de este viernes ante el `Pirata` el símbolo del `Albo` sostuvo: "Queríamos ganar, dimos todo, hicimos un esfuerzo muy grande poque la gente se merecía esa alegría".

Y añadió: "Ya jugás sin la presión y eso hace que te liberes, estuvo bueno que jugaran muchos chicos que son el futuro del club, hay que apuntalarlos y bancarlos".

"Fue un año difícil, no pudimos quedarnos en primera, dimos todo a pesar de los errores y aciertos, es un equipo con limitaciones que dio lo mejor y peleó contra todo, por eso volvés a casa tranquilo" concluyó el arquero.

Zielinski: "Mañana me reuniré para hablar sobre mi continuidad"

BUENOS AIRES -- El entrenador de Belgrano, Ricardo Zielinski, confirmó que este sábado se reunirá con los dirigentes de ese club para definir su situación y que "hay buena predisposición" para renovar el contrato.

"Mañana me reuniré con los dirigentes para definir mi continuidad. Hay buena predisposición, veremos qué me ofrecen. El balance no es el que hubiéramos querido. Quedamos a un paso del objetivo de los 50 puntos (sumó 49) y de clasificar a otra Copa Sudamericana", dijo el entrenador.

Belgrano se despidió del torneo Final con un empate sin goles ante el descendido All Boys, como visitante en Floresta.

"No encontramos regularidad. No nos cobraron cuatro goles que eran válidos, hoy hubo uno. Tuvimos lesionados, debimos hacer debutar a muchos chicos, tal vez eso es lo mejor que nos queda", concluyó.

Pedro Troglio: "Hay que ver si River se banca la punta"

LA PLATA -- El entrenador de Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, Pedro Troglio, se preguntó el viernes si River Plate se "bancará" la presión de arrancar la última fecha del torneo Final como líder y máximo candidato a quedarse con el título.

"River ahora es el puntero y es el que tiene mayores posibilidades. Ahora hay que ver, en la última fecha, si se banca la punta", expresó Troglio.

Cuando se le preguntó por la posibilidad de su equipo, el técnico de Gimnasia dijo en declaraciones a radio La Red que "es chica, pero posibilidad al fin. Pase lo que pase, voy a estar muy feliz La ilusión es la que nos toca. Debemos quedarnos con los tres puntos y esperar para ver qué pasa".

"Lo bueno es que ni hablan de nosotros, el título se pelea entre Estudiantes y River. Pero bueno, apareceremos en un costadito en la pantalla", indicó.

Por último, Troglio se refirió a lo que suceda después del cierre de la fecha, al puntualizar que "pase lo que pase, voy a estar muy feliz. Quiero que los jugadores sean aplaudidos. Los jugadores tienen que cerrar un buen torneo e irse despedidos bien por la gente".

Víctor Blanco: "Posibilidades de que venga Gareca hay"

BUENOS AIRES -- El presidente del Racing Club, Víctor Blanco, admitió el viernes que hay "posibilidades" de que llegue el entrenador Ricardo Gareca como reemplazante del renunciante Reinaldo Merlo.

"Posibilidades de que venga Gareca hay. Puede ser que esté esperando otras ofertas", aseguró el titular del club de Avellaneda por Radio América.

Y precisó: "Lo de Gareca no va a depender de lo económico, hay inversores externos que van a aportar para alcanzar lo que pide".

En las últimas horas trascendió que Gareca se juntó con el arquero y capitán del plantel, Sebastián Saja, encuentro al que Blanco consideró como "positivo".

El titular racinguista agregó que sólo hubo una "comunicación telefónica" con Gareca y que espera que en los próximos días se allane el camino para la contratación.

"Más allá de Gareca, los técnicos que Racing tiene en carpeta, algunos están trabajando", admitió el dirigente.

De esta manera, el exconductor de Vélez Sarsfield es el principal candidato para reemplazar a Merlo, aunque también tiene ofertas del exterior que le harían a Racing retroceder algunos casilleros en la negociación.

Matías Almeyda debe reunirse para definir si sigue en Banfield

BUENOS AIRES -- El director técnico del recién ascendido Banfield, Matías Jesús Almeyda, señaló que "la semana que viene se definirá" si continúa en Banfield, que tiene la prioridad para renovarle el contrato.

Tras los festejos por el ascenso a primera división, El Pelado le comentó a Télam: "nos reuniremos con el presidente (Eduardo Spinosa) y con toda la dirigencia para definir lo que debe ser un buen futuro para todos".

Pese a estar "muy cerca para el acuerdo", como lo indicó el propio entrenador, también dijo: "yo quería primero cumplir con el objetivo del ascenso y ahora sí pensar en todo lo que viene".

En esto último está la clave para su continuidad, porque pese a que Almeyda lo negó, se supo de una fuente responsable que mantuvo una reunión -o su representante Santiago Hirsig- con el presidente de Racing, Víctor Blanco, de la que salió con el vínculo muy avanzado para tomar la conducción Académica.

Más allá de otras propuestas que recibió de clubes de nuestro medio como del exterior, de lo que está al tanto el titular del Taladro, "nuestro propósito es que se quede", le manifestó Spinosa a Télam, aunque reconoció "debemos conversar con Matías para ver si lo retenemos, no creo que sea sencillo porque tiene otras ofertas para evaluar".

A todo esto, quien logró su segundo ascenso a primera como DT -el primero fue con River en la temporada 2011/12- se sintió "muy feliz por el objetivo alcanzado, por el esfuerzo de los dirigentes que me dieron la oportunidad de dirigir a Banfield y por la alegría de la gente".

Almeyda prosiguió: "Para mí fue una gran satisfacción que pudieran venir a la cancha todos mis familiares, hasta mi padre, con quien me abracé apenas terminó el partido".

Al analizar la campaña del conjunto albiverde expresó: "Sé que algunos me han criticado y acepto las críticas cuando son constructivas, porque a veces el equipo era muy ofensivo y nos descuidábamos un poco en el fondo, pero fue la idea que inculqué".

Por lo que aclaró "entrenamos para ello y sabía que si en algún momento hacía cambios para ser más cauteloso o especulativo no iba a ser positivo porque los jugadores sentían el fútbol de la otra manera, no estaban preparados para ser más defensivos".

El entrenador, de 40 años, que fue rapado el jueves tras los festejos por Jonathan Requena y otros jugadores, cumpliendo con su promesa, destacó entre los puntos altos que mostró el plantel banfileño, "la paciencia y la solidaridad", además del "buen juego ofensivo".

A la vez manifestó que "en un campeonato demasiado largo es difícil mantener una regularidad de ganar muchos partidos y al mismo ritmo, aunque a la vez lo hace competitivo", por lo que indicó los puntos bajos que tuvieron "cuando en los partidos no podíamos imponer lo que entrenábamos, aparecían dudas y errores".

Almeyda valoró la intención de juego ofensivo de su equipo y la del puntero del certamen "más allá que sea la primera B Nacional, creo que es algo importante para el fútbol argentino lo que marcaron Banfield y Defensa y Justicia", dijo.

Ello en referencia a que junto a Diego Cocca, el entrenador del club de Florencio Varela, también ya ascendido, aportaron la idea "de no hacer un juego mezquino y el pensar que cuando uno hace este tipo de estrategia y de trabajo, lo está haciendo para el crecimiento del club y para que el jugador disfrute de jugar al fútbol".

Por último, manifestó: "Es una satisfacción el haber ascendido jugando de esta manera, lo que no quiere decir que en todos los partidos lo hayamos logrado, pero sí es para valorar que siempre lo intentamos".

South America´s prodigious footballing production line keeps working overtime. And the financial problems of those local clubs -- coupled with the youngsters´ dreams of global stardom -- ensures that a healthy crop are likely to be crossing the Atlantic before the start of the next European season.

Here are some of the candidates:


Angel Correa, FW, San Lorenzo (Argentina)
This year´s Copa Libertadores has been a showcase for the stocky talents of a 19-year-old striker compared by his club to Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez. There are elements of exaggeration in that; he lacks Aguero´s ability to work in tight spaces and the bull-like strength of Tevez. He is currently more of a support striker than a penalty area specialist, a quick runner with the ball adept at picking up possession from deep. Though still raw, Atletico Madrid head the list of interested parties.

Giorgian De Arrascaeta, MF, Defensor (Uruguay)
Another star of this year´s Libertadores, confirming the excellent impression he made in the 2013 Under-20 World Cup in Turkey. An attacking midfielder who is wonderfully fluid in possession, well-balanced and capable of finding interesting angles for his passes, there was even a lobby -- unsuccessful, as it proved -- to have him fast-tracked into Uruguay´s World Cup squad. Will soon be on his way to a bigger club -- Defensor are reported to have sold his registration to a prominent local agent.

Juan Sanchez Mino, MF, Boca Juniors (Argentina)
A classy wide or central midfielder with a sweet left foot and plenty of lung power, who could also feature at left-back. At the age of 24 it is perhaps a surprise that he has not made the move to Europe earlier, especially as he is a proficient linguist.

Rodrigo De Paul, MF, Racing (Argentina)
A tall, elegant attacking midfielder used wide on the left, which allows him to cut inside and unleash right-foot shots. About to turn 20, he has just signed for Valencia in Spain. It will be interesting to see whether he is sufficiently dynamic to impose himself on the games.

Wendell, DF, Gremio (Brazil)
The latest example of Brazil´s extraordinary capacity to produce attacking left-backs. Little more than a year ago Gremio acquired Andre Santos from Arsenal. They soon let him go and then produced Alex Telles, who made such an impression that he was sold to Galatasaray. This year they have done it again, unveiling a sinuous full-back who started so well that he is already lined up to join Bayer Leverkusen.

Eder Alvarez Balanta, DF, River Plate (Argentina)
A 21-year-old left-footed Colombian defender who made a huge impression last year when pitched into the River Plate first team, winning instant comparisons with Argentina´s 1978 World Cup-winning captain, Daniel Passarella. Classy, quick and combative, he has been capped by Colombia at left-back and was named in their 30-man World Cup group. Barcelona have been watching him closely.

Doria, DF, Botafogo (Brazil)
Still only 19, this rangy, left-footed centre-back is remarkably mature and already capped at the senior level. Made his breakthrough while Clarence Seedorf was playing for the club -- a connection that could make Milan an obvious destination.

Luan, FW, Gremio (Brazil)
This lanky, 21-year-old support striker made a big impression in the first few months of this, his debut year, and is already attracting European interest. Intelligent and versatile with an interesting awareness of what is going on around him.

Jonathan Rodriguez, FW, Penarol (Uruguay)
A quick, stocky striker who came to prominence late last year with a man of the match performance in his first derby against Nacional. Can be hot-headed and would need to be handled with care, but unlikely to stay too long in Uruguayan football.

Promoted San Marcos set for longer top-flight stay

Jubilant San Marcos de Arica have earned their second promotion in 18 months – and will get more than four months in Chile´s top-flight this time around.

San Marcos were unlucky that their last promotion happened at the same time as the Chilean league was being restructured. It meant they were relegated after competing in the Torneo de Transición in the first part of 2013.
Now the northerners will have at least a year to mix it with Chile´s elite.

San Marcos needed a point at home to Lota Schwager last night to guarantee their promotion as the top team in the yearly standings – and that´s exactly what they got.

In front of a packed Carlos Dittborn crowd, Renato González gave San Marcos the lead on the half-hour mark, but Jonathan Novoa levelled from the penalty spot ten minutes into the second half.
However, the point proved sufficient to start the party in Arica.

Delighted manager Luis Marcoleta, who is now out of contract but in a good position to negotiate with the club´s board, said: “We had to work really hard for this championship. For me, it has much more value than the one in 2012 because we had to fight and show a lot of perseverance in the face of adversity.

“I really value this title for all the sacrifices that we made.”
If San Marcos had lost against Lota, Coquimbo Unido would have needed to beat Santiago Morning to pip them for the overall title.

In the event, the Pirates could only draw 1-1 at La Pintana. Jaime Gaete gave Santiago Morning a fifth-minute lead, but Juan Pablo Miño levelled six minutes later.

Clausura champions Coquimbo will now meet Apertura winners San Luis de Quillota in the play-offs. The other tie features Santiago Morning, who came third in the accumulated standings, and Barnechea, who finished fourth.

The four teams will battle it out for the one remaining spot in the top division.

The play-off semi-finals begin on Sunday with San Luis v Coquimbo in Quillota (3pm) and Barnechea v Santiago Morning at San Carlos de Apoquindo (7.30pm). The second legs take place on Wednesday, May 21.

At the other end of the table, Lota Schwager finished bottom of the table despite their 1-1 draw in Arica. This was because La Serena, who had been bottom of the accumulated table, beat Deportes Concepción 2-0 at home with goals from Aníbal Domeneghini and Patricio Rubina.

However, Lota look as though they will escape the drop to the Second Division because the ANFP have decided to relegate Naval due to financial irregularities. However, Naval could appeal against the punishment.

‘Machete’ aims to be a cut above at La U

Martín ‘Machete’ Lasarte wants to shed his ‘nearly man’ image after taking the managerial reins at Universidad de Chile.

In his previous job at Universidad Católica, Lasarte was so close to winning trophies. They lost the Torneo de Transición in the first part of 2013 to Unión Española on goal difference.

Then they came within a whisker of winning the Apertura in the second half of 2013 before losing to O’Higgins in a Super Final.
When you throw in a last-gasp Copa Chile final defeat – against la U – and a semi-final reverse in the Copa Sudamericana, the pictures becomes even clearer.

Frustrated by the failures, the 53-year-old former Real Sociedad manager quit Católica six months ago. The Uruguayan sat out the Clausura, but now has a golden chance to right the wrongs of his recent near misses at Universidad de Chile.

La U have lost their way since the Jorge Sampaoli golden days, with Dario Franco, Marco Antonio Figueroa and Cristián Romero unable to halt the slide.

They weren’t able to land top targets Ricardo Gareca, the former Vélez Sársfield manager, or ex-O’Higgins boss Eduardo Berizzo, paving the way for Lasarte to take charge.
He said: “I feel that you’ve got to win things at clubs like this. I left Chile feeling that I’d done a good job, but without winning a title. This is an opportunity to put that right and that gives me force and hope.”
