Paris St-Germain show interest in Corinthians star Paulinho

Corinthians midfielder Paulinho has been the subject of much transfer talk over the past six months and now another club have expressed a desire to sign the player, with Paris St-Germain throwing their hat into the ring.

Paulinho, 24, has been courted by a number of top European clubs and was close to joining Italian giants Inter before extending his contract with Corinthians.

PSG have spent big this last year on the likes of Thiago Silva, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Javier Pastore, and show no signs of slowing down as they aim to dominate both in France and in the Champions League.

And now French and Italian newspapers are reporting that Bernardo, the player´s agent, has travelled to Italy and France to talk to clubs.

However, the former midfielder denied this when asked by Lancenet. He said:

"I was there to see other players. After the summer market (mid-year window), we have not met with anyone else over Paulinho. It is normal for these types of rumours. We´ve had Chelsea, Inter, PSG now ... After Neymar, he is the most important player in Brazil. This is normal."

Zenit offers support to striker Hulk after kidnapping

Zenit St Petersburg has given their support to Brazil striker Hulk amid reports of his youngest sister being kidnapped in Brazil.

Club spokesman Evgeny Gusev told R-Sport: "The club is concerned with the incident, and will follow the course of events and support our player in such a tough moment."

According to Globo Esporte, the kidnapping took place as the 22-year-old Angelica Vieira was meeting a friend at a local restaurant at 2pm on Monday.

The friend was admitted to hospital with shock after the abduction and upon her discharge claimed that the kidnappers had forcibly dragged Mrs. Vieira from her car into another car.

The police are thought to be reluctant to declare the case as a kidnapping until 72 hours after the incident.

Hulk recently moved to Zenit in a €60m deal from FC Porto but endured a difficult start to life in Russia, also being ruled out of this week´s fixtures due to injury.

Hulk´s sister found after suspected kidnapping

Seleção striker Hulk´s sister has been found today after her suspected kidnapping yesterday and is now reunited with her family according to AFP.

Angelica Vieira, 22, is now with her family at their home in Campina Grande in northeast Brazil after the incident.

Military officers spoke to AFP: "We will talk to her to determine if it was an abduction. For now, we only know that she is back home with her family."

The victim´s brother, Hulk was prepared to leave for Brazil after obtaining permission from his club, Zenit St Petersburg.

According to reports in Brazil, the suspected kidnapping took place as Mrs. Vieira was meeting a friend at a local restaurant on Monday.

The police are still investigating the case, and have given no further details about the circumstances of the victim´s discovery.

BUENOS AIRES -- Tras la caída ante Lanús que volvió a instalar fantasmas por la posición en zona de descenso, y ante la seguidilla de lesiones en el plantel, el entrenador de Independiente, Américo Gallego, decidió poner una formación alternativa para la revancha del jueves ante Universidad Católica de Chile, por la Copa Sudamericana.

Si bien no entregó pistas sobre los once que buscarán acceder a las semifinales de la Sudamericana tras el 2-2 en el choque de ida, Gallego dejó trascender que preservará a la mayoría de los titulares para el choque del domingo en San Juan ante San Martín, un rival directo en la lucha por mantener la categoría.

Cerro Porteño pone todo en la Copa

ASUNCIÓN -- El Cerro Porteño paraguayo viajará este miércoles a Argentina con toda su ´fuerza máxima´ encabezada por los goleadores Jonathan Fabrro y Roberto Nanni, para enfrentar al día siguiente a Tigre, un rival presionado para remontar el 1-0 que sufrió en la ida de los cuartos de final de la Copa Sudamericana.

A pesar de la ventaja, el equipo asunceno no tiene intenciones de encerrarse atrás y se prepara para aprovechar los espacios que pueda dejar el rival, especialmente a través del mediapunta de origen argentino, que lleva cuatro goles en el torneo, y su compatriota Roberto Nanni, autor de tres.

Nanni marcó el gol de la victoria el 1 de noviembre y con Fabrro, que se nacionalizó paraguayo, amenazan a los goleadores máximos del torneo, Carlos Núñez, del Liverpool uruguayo; y Julio Bevacqua, del Deportivo Quito.

El uruguayo Núñez y el argentino Bevacqua quedaron fuera de la Sudamericana con la eliminación de sus equipos.

El equipo azulgrana, dirigido por el uruguayo Jorge Fossati, un técnico especializado en conquistar títulos sudamericanos, cumplirán el miércoles un entrenamiento suave en el estadio Monumental de Victoria.

"Hay que estar atentos, entrar con una máxima concentración y ser inteligentes más que nada. Debemos que aprovechar nuestras situaciones de gol durante el partido", añadió.
