Paredes piensa en la Libertadores

BUENOS AIRES -- El mediocampista creativo de Boca Juniors Leandro Paredes admitió en la noche de este domingo que la posibilidad de pelear por el Torneo Inicial quedó "muy lejos", pero resaltó que tienen que sumar en las dos fechas que quedan porque deben "jugar la Copa Libertadores".

"El torneo está muy lejos, pero debemos sumar porque tenemos que entrar en la Copa. Boca tiene que jugar la Copa Libertadores", subrayó Paredes en la conferencia de prensa posterior a la victoria ante el Racing Club por 3-1 en La Bombonera, en un clasico correspondiente a la antepenúltima fecha de la competencia doméstica.

El juvenil, autor de dos de los goles con los que Boca le ganó 3-1 a la Academia, valoró que en los últimos encuentros evolucionaron y señaló que deben seguir por ese camino.

"Cambiamos mucho en lo anímico y en lo futbolístico y debemos seguir así para lo que queda. No se venía jugando bien, ahora mejoramos un poco y nos quedan dos partidos para seguir sumando", remarcó Paredes.

Consultado sobre su gran rendimiento y la despedida que le brindó el público cuando fue reemplazado por Leandro Somoza, Paredes contó que "uno sueña con que la gente grite tu nombre y fue muy lindo lo que pasó hoy".

Y luego concluyó: "Marcar en un clásico me pone muy contento, pero tenemos que seguir sumando y nos quedan dos partidos muy importantes".

Fue la segunda vez que Paredes convierte dos tantos, ya que su primer doblete se lo había marcado a San Lorenzo de Almagro, en la decimotercera fecha del Torneo Inicial.

Pratto: "Tuvimos un poquito de suerte"

BUENOS AIRES -- El delantero de Vélez, Lucas Pratto, autor del gol que le permitió al equipo de Liniers abrir el marcador frente a All Boys, señaló hoy que consiguieron "una victoria importante" de cara a la recta final del Torneo Inicial.

"Este es un equipo que en su cancha sabe jugar muy bien. Acá casi no había perdido", dijo Pratto apenas finalizó el partido en Floresta.

Sobre la importancia de la victoria, el delantero surgido en Boca admitió que "pudo ser un empate", pero contaron "con un poquito de suerte".

"Nos llevamos una victoria importante", aseguró Pratto, y luego concluyó: "nos quedan dos partidos ante rivales muy difíciles, aunque son rivales que no vienen tan bien como venía All Boys".

Vale destacar que, a sólo dos fechas de la finalización del Torneo Inicial, Vélez quedó como único puntero con 35 puntos.

Reports: Beckham could play for, be part-owner of Cosmos

Is David Beckham heading to the New York Cosmos?

That could be a possibility if a report in the Sunday World in Ireland is true.

The newspaper said that the LA Galaxy midfielder and former English National Team player would become a a player and part-owner of the Cosmos.

Beckham is preparing to play for the Galaxy in MLS Cup at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. next Saturday. The Cosmos, who are preparing to make a competitive comeback next year in the North American Soccer League, are rumored to want to become the second New York team and an expansion team as the 20th franchise in Major League Soccer.

The 37-year-old Beckham will leave the Galaxy after the game. There are rumors that he is headed to Paris Saint-Germain in France and that teams in the Australian A-League are interested in the standout midfielder.

The Cosmos’ hierarchy is believed to want to bring Beckham to the club as a board member and as a player, according to the newspaper. That would give the team instant credibility in the New York market and be an attractive carrot to convince MLS to bring the team in as an expansion team. MLS is spearheading an effort to build a soccer-specific stadium in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens for the New York franchise.

According to the Sunday World, a senior Cosmos source said that discussions were underway with Beckham and his advisers

“David has confirmed his interest and we expect an announcement before Christmas,” the source told the newspaper.

According to the Daily Star in England, Beckham was interested in part-ownership of the Galaxy. Anschutz Entertainment Group, which owns the MLS club, is on the block for $7.2 billion but there have been no takers.

A source close to Beckham told the Star: “New York is looking like the deal he’ll go for.

“As far as the Galaxy are concerned, without knowing who the eventual new owners are likely to be he felt it was too risky for him to hope they offer him a co-ownership deal there.”

Beckham joined the Galaxy in 2007 and has spent six years with the MLS team.

The Cosmos on Saturday night declined to comment about the reports.

The Cosmos named former New York/New Jersey MetroStars and Long Island Rough Riders standout Giovanni Savarese as coach on Monday. The team recently named Erik Stover as chief operating officer.

AC Milan forward Robinho: I love Santos but won´t rule out playing for other Brazilian clubs

AC Milan forward Robinho has once again declared his love for former club Santos, but the striker has refused to rule out playing for other Brazilian clubs if he was to move back to his homeland.

Robinho, 28, is unhappy in Milan, despite scoring the only goal in their 1-0 victory over Juventus on Sunday, and revealed to Lancenet that he has received a number of offers from Brazilian clubs.

He said: "In football you never know about tomorrow, I´m a professional and I cannot say that I would not play for another team, but make it clear that Santos are the team I love.

"I have had offers from Grêmio, Atlético Mineiro and even a rival, São Paulo. Let´s see what happens."

Despite these options, it still appears that the former Manchester City star would prefer to move back to Santos, for what would be a third time. A transfer would be complicated by the fee demanded by the Milan giants and also the players wages. Although a solution could be found by including midfielder Felipe Anderson, 19, in the deal, as he is a player Milan have scouted on numerous occasions this year.

Ronaldo: I see no problem with a foreign coach of the Seleção

Brazil striking legend Ronaldo believes that the CBF should choose the best coach available to take over from the recently sacked Mano Menezes, even if it means employing a foreign coach.

Ronaldo, 36, was a teammate at Barcelona of Pep Guardiola, who has been strongly linked with the job, and is of the opinion that if the CBF decides that the Spanish coach is the best, then they should hire him.

"Just as many Brazilians have gone abroad and had success, I see no problem with a foreign coach coming to take over the squad," said the former Real Madrid striker to SporTV.

"But the board of the CBF need to see if this is the best way. It is a decision that needs to be taken with great tranquility. Let´s take our time to make the best choice."

And Ronaldo did not agree with the decision to axe Menezes and believed the former coach was finally getting things right.

"I was surprised. In my opinion, the Seleção was improving the level of play, showing togetherness and, suddenly, came the change.

"This is not good this climate of instability, uncertainty. We need tranquility to find our best football as soon as possible. The fans feel that instability and pass it to the players," he added.

Tijuana, Toluca qualify for 2013-2014 CCL

Tijuana became the 11th different team from Mexico to qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League with a 3-0 victory over Leon on Sunday and will be joined next season by former semifinalist Toluca, which will return for the first time since it reached the quarterfinals in 2011.

Both teams prevailed in their Liga Mx "Liguilla" semifinal playoffs on Sunday and head to the Apertura championship series Thursday in Tijuana and Sunday in Toluca.

Tijuana, which began in 2006 and only ascended to the Mexican first division in 2011, overcame a 2-0 loss in the first leg on Thursday. Richard Ruiz scored in the first minute of second-half injury time to give the "Xolos" the needed margin of victory before a partisan crowd at Estadio Caliente.

Colombian forward Duvier Riascos scored his club leading ninth goal of the season in 68th and Ecuadoran midfielder Fidel Martinez gave Tijuana the lead in the 42nd.

In Toluca, Miguel Layun scored his first goal of the season for America in the 16th and Daniel Montenegro added another in the 37th to pull America equal on aggregate 2-2 following Thursday´s first-leg loss.

But Edgar Benitez restored the advantage for Toluca in the 59th and it held on as America ended its day when Juan Medina was ejected in the fifth minute of second-half injury time.

Toluca and Tijuana become the fifth and sixth teams to assure themselves of places in the 2013-2014 Champions League, joining U.S. sides Sporting Kansas City, the San Jose Earthquakes, the Houston Dynamo and LA Galaxy.

R. Battión: "Hay que sumar puntos"

BUENOS AIRES -- El volante de Independiente, Roberto Battión, afirmó que su equipo viene levantando, pero reconoció que los rivales, pese a llegar poco, tienen facilidades para anotar.

"Tenemos que seguir trabajando. No estamos jugando mal, pero atravesamos un momento en el que nos llegan poco y nos anotan mucho. Hay que corregir eso", dijo el futbolista en rueda de prensa tras el entrenamiento matinal en Villa Domínico.

Y agregó: "Además, tenemos que tratar de ser más efectivos en ataque. El sábado jugamos mejor, generamos más situaciones. Nos fuimos contentos con el funcionamiento pero con bronca por no poder sumar de a tres".

Luego se refirió al partido del próximo miércoles con Belgrano: "Sabemos que tenemos poco tiempo para dar vuelta la historia pero hay que tratar de hacerlo y sumar. Ya me tocó jugar un partido similar y creo que no es imposible dar vuelta el resultado", dijo en referencia a los 45 minutos que el "Rojo" disputará el miércoles ante Belgrano con público en el estadio.

Y añadió: "La idea del ´Tolo´ (Gallego) es ir a atacar desde el vamos. Sabemos que Belgrano es un equipo que se defiende bien, que es compacto, pero vamos a hacer todo lo posible para regalarle un triunfo a la gente".

"Nos quedan tres partidos y medio y hay que sumar la mayor cantidad de puntos para estar más despejados el año que viene. Igual, sabemos que hasta junio el panorama va a ser complicado", continuó.

Con respecto a las agresiones que sufrió el equipo al retirarse el pasado sábado, dijo: "Creo que fue gente que no ingresó al estadio. Fue un susto, pero nosotros estamos ajenos a esos problemas. Creo que tenemos que aislarnos de esos temas y practicar de la mejor manera para sumar puntos. Lo que pasé afuera escapa a nosotros".

Independiente entrenó esta mañana en Villa Domínico, y mañana volverá a hacerlo desde las 16.30, a puertas cerradas.
