Gareca: "Concentrado en 2 finales"

BUENOS AIRES -- El entrenador de Vélez Sarsfield, Ricardo Gareca, expresó hoy que en estos momentos su principal objetivo es "estar concentrado" en las dos finales que jugará su equipo para quedarse con el título del torneo Inicial, y no en su futuro profesional.

"Hoy pienso en Vélez y no en otra cosa. Mi trabajo es estar concentrado en esto que son estas dos finales. Me costó mucho todo esto y lo disfruto mucho. Pero eso no me distrae de lo que estoy viviendo", indicó.

El vínculo que une a Gareca con Vélez finaliza a fin de año, pero la intención de los dirigentes del club de Liniers es que el técnico siga en su cargo.

Tras aclarar su situación personal, Gareca se refirió al importante partido del fin de semana ante Unión de Santa Fe, luego del cual, según lo que suceda con Lanús, podría consagrarse campeón. "Nunca subestimamos a los rivales, esa no es la costumbre de Vélez. Ellos necesitan ganar por su situación y nosotros porque queremos ganar esta final, podemos tener mejores partidos que otros; pero de ninguna manera podemos permitirnos eso", señaló Gareca.

Para el próximo domingo, el técnico podrá contar con la totalidad de sus jugadores, incluso Federico Insúa, quien por segundo día consecutivo no entrenó a la par de sus compañeros. "Cuando uno tiene una situación importante hay que aprovecharlas. Estamos acostumbrados a vivir esto. Todavía Vélez no es campeón en nada. Tenemos que jugar y no nos podemos adelantar a los acontecimientos", puntualizó.

Passarella: "Salida es consensuada"

BUENOS AIRES -- El presidente de River, Daniel Passarella, aseguró que "la salida de Almeyda fue consensuada" y confirmó que Ramón Díaz es uno de los candidatos para suceder al DT.

Fluminense to use Thiago Neves sale to fund return of Dario Conca - report

Fluminense could sanction the sale of Thiago Neves in January in order to fund the return of Dario Conca from Guangzhou Evergrande, report Lancenet.

Conca, 29, who left Fluminense for US$10 million in June 2011 to join the Chinese side, will meet with president of Fluminense´s club sponsor and partner Unimed later this week.

The Argentine has made clear his intention to return to Brazil and Fluminense this January, but would require a considerable transfer fee to secure his return.

With Thiago Neves a potential target for clubs across Europe and the Middle-East, Fluminense are hoping to use the Brazil international´s sale to secure funding for a bid for Conca.

The Argentine is a popular figure at the Tricolor Carioca, having been voted the Brasileirão Player of the Year in 2010 as he helped his side to a long-awaited title success.

With Conca unhappy in China, having become discontent with being regularly substituted, the club have sought to offer their idol a way out.

Their attempts to secure Conca´s release for a minimal transfer fee, as well as the player´s public demands to leave earlier in the year, have, though, left Guangzhou unwilling to compromise greatly regarding his release.

Metalist forward Taison holds talks over Chelsea move in January

Metalist Kharkiv forward Taison is in talks with European champions Chelsea over a move in January, report Brazilian media giant Globo Esporte.

Taison, 24, was a key member of the Metalist side who enjoyed a fine run to the quarter-finals of the Europa League last campaign and was, earlier this week, nominated for the Samba Gold trophy 2012 - awarded to the best Brazilian player in Europe this year.

The attacker, primarily used as a second-striker, was tentatively linked in the Blues in the summer and that interest has reportedly been reignited. Taison was present at Chelsea´s fixture with Fulham on Wednesday night, holding talks with the club and visiting former Internacional team-mate Oscar.

With Fernando Torres out of form, Daniel Sturridge potentially leaving and Victor Moses heading to the Africa Cup of Nations, Chelsea are believed to be looking at forward options ahead of the New Year when they could be left light in attacking areas.

Globo report that Taison would be released to join the Blues should a fee of around £12 million be offered and insist that there is a "good chance" that the player will become the fifth Brazilian in Chelsea´s squad this January.

Botafogo star Elkeson close to completing Guangzhou Evergrande switch

Elkeson took a step closer to a move to China on Wednesday, as officials from Guangzhou Evergrande met with Botafogo to discuss the final details of the transfer.

Elkeson, 23, is the Alvinegro´s top league goalscorer this season, but is set to join fellow Brazilian Muriqui in China, potentially opening the door for Dario Conca´s return to Fluminense.

The exact values of the deal negotiated are yet to be revealed, but the deal has been reported to be worth around €6 million to the Brazilian side.

Sports newspaper Lance! insist that the Chinese side hope to get the deal sewn-up within the coming days, with paperwork already delivered to China, as the deal is at the personal request of manager Marcello Lippi.

Muriqui´s fellow Brazilians Cléo and Paulão are expected to leave Guangzhou this January after a change in the quota rules, but Elkeson would also join Paraguay´s Lucas Barrios at the Tianhe Stadium.

An attacking-midfielder, who can also operate in a striking role, the former-Vitoria forward reportedly came close to joining Serie A side Bologna earlier this year.
