LIMA -- El argentino Ángel Comizzo dirigirá en el 2013 al Universitario de Deportes peruano, anunció la entidad peruana.

El exentrenador del Querétaro mexicano entre el 2010 y el 2011, y de Talleres de Córdoba sustituirá en el banco del Universitario al peruano Nolberto Solano, que abandonó hace una semana.

Comizzo, de 50 años, fue arquero de River Plate argentino y el Morelia mexicano.

Universitario, uno de los equipos más populares del país junto a Alianza Lima, terminó en el penúltimo lugar de la liguilla A del torneo peruano y quedó al margen de los torneos internacionales que se jugarán en el 2013.

As MLS closes in on Queens stadium, others fight for future expansion

MLS Commissioner held a townhall meeting to help pitch the idea of putting a team in Queens, but at the same time there are lots of other cities that seem to be getting closer to viability in the top flight.

By now, it´s so undeniably obvious that MLS has every intention to put the next expansion team in New York City that seriously discussing alternatives seems a rather pointless endeavor. The latest step in that direction was commissioner Don Garber holding a town hall meeting in Queens, where he laid out all the reasons MLS is not only interested in spearheading the effort but also why locals should be excited about it.

Garber outlined all the jobs the construction would create, the park land that would be rehabbed, the money that would flood into the neighborhood. The league even operates a website that explains what a wonderful endeavor this is.

As has been cleared up recently, MLS does not intend to actually build a stadium, buy the land or really lay out any of the big money here. They are just trying to get the project cleared, so that they can sell the idea as part of the overall package to the league´s next owner who they are hoping will pay somewhere around $100 million and take care of most of the financing for this stadium. From a financial perspective, there´s a lot to like as long as they can pull it off.

And frankly, some of Garber´s language aside, wasting time arguing over how good of an idea this is kind of misses the point. Until this happens and crashes and burns in spectacular fashion, this plan is the sole focus of any MLS expansion.

That´s not necessarily a bad thing, though. While MLS is clearly in no rush to get a 20th team on the field, that is allowing markets all over the country to basically get their act together in preparation for the next round of expansion. Admittedly, the league has never given a timeline or even said how many teams it could feasibly expand to, but there have been many indications that the league will eventually grow beyond 20 teams.

This is far from a complete list in terms of cities that could potentially fit into MLS (no mentions of Atlanta, Las Vegas or San Antonio, for instance), but this is where some of the more recent developments have been:

Orlando, Fla.

From all appearances, the next closest market to being MLS ready is Orlando. Orlando City SC currently is drawing well over 6,000 fans per game to watch third-division soccer. That´s obviously impressive. They´ve also made no bones about their desire to join MLS, have at least put together a plan for a soccer-specific stadium and seem to be doing everything right.

Pros: There´s an ownership in place that is motivated, the infrastructure is quickly being built and there´s a known fanbase. It also gets MLS back into the South for the first time since 2001.

Cons: There´s a big difference between having plans for a stadium and having a stadium. There´s also a lot of difference between the kind wealth Phil Rawlins has and the kind of wealth MLS seems to be looking for.

Tampa, Fla.

This one seemed to almost come out of nowhere and it´s hard to know how seriously to take it. But a group of investors has announced that they intend to build a $480 million soccer facility that would include an MLS-quality stadium. They say they don´t need any public dollars. Frankly, it seems a bit much to believe.

Pros: Well, if this group is really prepared to spend nearly $300 million on a state-of-the-art soccer stadium, that´s great. There´s an established soccer community in Tampa, although this is unaffiliated with the NASL´s Tampa Bay Rowdies. It gets MLS back into the south.

Cons: If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is, goes the old adage.

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Yes, another entry from Florida. This one is not technically in Miami, where MLS once was and has supposedly come close to returning to, but that might be splitting hairs. While this is also a failed market, like Tampa, they seem to be experiencing a bit of a renaissance that has prompted them to formally start looking for a new stadium. Having a stadium is obviously a game-changer and would put them in the discussion.

Pros: This is probably the market that MLS finds most attractive. It´s the kind of place that international stars would love to play and one that the league would love to have in its portfolio. It would also have many of the benefits of having a Florida team without the stink of past MLS failure attached to it.

Cons: South Florida is a very fickle sports market. Almost no matter where you look, attendance always seems to be a bit disappointing. Until MLS is seen as a bonafide "major league" it´s going to be tough to get a market foothold.

North Carolina

The Railhawks have drawn well in recent years, boasting an average attendance of close to 4,000 this year and drawing nearly 8,000 to see them beat the LA Galaxy in the U.S. Open Cup. They are apparently planning to expand WakeMed´s capacity to close to 10,000 and they have met with Don Garber about expansion possibilities.

Pros: There´s clearly a soccer market in the area and they seem very interested in joining MLS. They are also among the more developed soccer markets in the southern quadrant of the United States.

Cons: It looks like if a MLS team were to come to North Carolina, it would likely be in the Raleigh-Durham-Cary area -- where the Railhawks play -- rather than Charlotte. That shaves off about 500,000 people from the market and makes it very similar in size to Salt Lake City, which is currently the smallest in MLS.

Pittsburgh

Hardly a soccer hotbed in almost any sense of the term, they are starting to make some noise with the construction of a new soccer-specific stadium for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. The new facility will be ready in the spring and seat a little over 3,000 fans. It´s also expandable if the opportunity arises.

Pros: Pittsburgh is the 23rd largest media market in the United States and considerably bigger than a few markets with MLS teams. It´s also the sixth biggest market without at least four ´major league´ teams, so maybe that gives MLS a little bit more of an opening.

Cons: The Riverhounds have been around since 1999, which actually makes them one of the older clubs in North America. But they´ve never averaged as many as 5,000 fans in a season and the last time they averaged more than 1,500 was in 2006. There are probably good reasons for that, but it doesn´t look like people are banging down the door to watch soccer there either.

Minnesota

There has been a professional outdoor soccer team in Minnesota every season since 1999, although never in the top flight. The support seems to be there, as Thunder regularly averaged 3,000 per game during the early days and the Stars averaged about 2,600 last year. But they´ve never been financially stable. With new owner Bill McGuire taking over the team last month, that will hopefully change.

Pros: In their pitch for a stadium, the Minnesota Vikings expressed some interest in sharing their facility with a MLS team. If that were ever to come to fruition, a situation not that unlike the one in Seattle could prove very promising.

Cons: That appears to be Minnesota´s best hope for a first-class soccer facility and we only need to look at the situation with the New England Revolution to see how wrong that can go.

Sacramento, Calif.

The USL-Pro just announced that they´ll be putting a team there in 2014. Although there are no current plans for a soccer-specific stadium there, nearby Elk Grove is apparently pushing for one. Definitely more of a darkhorse, but this region could probably sustain a team in a full grown-out league.

Pros: You might not realize it, but the Sacramento television market is actually the 20th best in the United States and the metropolitan area has more 2.5 million people. That´s essentially the same size at Portland and bigger than places like Orlando, Kansas City and Las Vegas. If the NBA´s Kings leave, that will also leave it with the Triple-A Sacramento Rivercats as the only professional sports competition. Not so coincidentally, the Rivercats are owned by the same man who bought the rights to the USL team.

Cons: For all the talk of what a great market this might be, there´s never been a professional soccer team there (at least not that I could find). It´s possible that could be swung as a good thing, but it´s highly untested.

Phoenix

They´ll make their USL-Pro debut this year, which is the only reason they are mentioned here. They still don´t have a stadium, nor any apparent plans to build one.

Pros: With more than 4 million people in the metro area, it´s one of the larger markets that MLS lacks a team. It also has the kind of demographics that MLS has often tried to appeal to, both Hispanic and young adults. They have drawn well for national team games, too.

Cons: There´s a ton of competition for the sports entertainment dollar, with Arizona State also competing for attention with the Diamondbacks, Suns, Coyotes and Cardinals. That probably explains why pro soccer is so untested.

San Diego

There´s no expansion news to speak of, but it was recently revealed that San Diego had NBC´s highest ratings for their MLS broadcasts.

Pros: There´s clearly an appetite for soccer, as they are consistently near the top of the MLS, national team and World Cup TV ratings. It´s also home to more than 3 million people.

Cons: Right now, the only group that seems interested in bringing soccer to the area is one led by the San Diego Flash. Owner Clent Alexander is assembling an interesting group, but they aren´t about to be buying a MLS franchise anytime soon. As promising of a market as it may be, it´s got a lot of catching up to do to these other markets.

Report: Jamaica expects to make changes vs. Martinique

His facing a must-win situation to keep its chances to qualify for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, Jamaica assistant coach Alfredo Montesso said the Reggae Boyz were expected to make some changes for its crucial Caribbean Cup encounter against Martinique on Monday night.

The Jamaicans found themselves behind the eight ball after they dropped a 2-1 Group B decision to French Guiana in Antigua on Saturday night.

“I don’t think we will have many changes, but we will have some changes, especially with the performance in the second half,” Montesso told the Jamaica Observer.

“We told the team that this is a tournament not for 11 or 14 players, but for all 23 players because we have a game every 48 hours, so we have to work very straight with the medical department . . . to see how they recover from each game.”

A loss would eliminate the Jamaicans, who lost to the United States in the 2011 Gold Cup quarterfinals, from the Caribbean Cup. That would would be a crushing development for a team that has reached the CONCACAF hexagonal of World Cup qualifying.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States.

“I think for each game we will have to push with the best that we have… the best that we have in this type of tournament will be players who will recover better and be at 100 per cent for the game we are about to face,” Montesso was quoted by the Observer.

“It’s important to qualify to the semi-finals as it will give us the spot to go to the Gold Cup, so qualifying for the next round is very important to us.”


Report: Martinique captain expects difficult match vs. Jamaica

Given that Jamaica will be fighting for its Caribbean Cup and CONCACAF Gold Cup lives on Monday night, Martinique captain Fabrice Reuperne says he expects a difficult match in the Group B encounter.

“We know that Jamaica will want to recover from that accident and that will make it difficult for us,” Reuperne told the Jamaica Observer on Monday. “It still will be difficult even though we have the best team right now.”

Reuperne was referring to the Reggae Boyz’ 2-1 Group B defeat to French Guiana on Saturday. Martinique earned all three points in a 1-0 win over Cuba on Sunday.

“We know that Jamaica is a very good team,” he was quoted by the Observer. They are very tactical and physical and the players are very good and we respect this team, but we are here and we have one objective and that is to go to the Gold Cup and we want to qualify.”

Report: Najar training with Anderlecht

Honduran international defender-midfielder Andy Najar is on trial with on trial with Anderlecht, according to a Belgian website news story.

The D.C. United player is set to start practicing with the Belgium club on Monday, 7sur.7be reported this morning.

Najar, who has been capped three times by Los Catrachos, was a member of the Honduran team that participated at the 2012 London Olympics.

The 19-year-old Najar made 22 starts over 25 games over 2,045 minutes for D.C. this past season. He did not score any goals, but was credited four assists, which tied for third on the club.

United has not announced anything about Najar training with Anderlecht, which is also the team of U.S. international Sacha Kljestan.

Sócrates: El filósofo que siempre hará disfrutar

Hace apenas unos días (el pasado día 4), se cumplió un año del adiós de Sócrates. El ‘doctor’, un icono generacional dentro y fuera del campo por sus ‘taquitos’ en Corinthians y la mítica Brasil 1982, así como por su actitud política como elemento futbolístico extrapolado a la sociedad (Democracia Corintiana). Un absoluto referente del poder del deporte rey en la mente filosófica de un avanzado en todos los sentidos. Hoy, con el Timao preparando el asalto al Mundial de Clubes, no había mejor excusa para mostrar todo su potencial.


Brasil: Sócrates, las ideas nunca mueren

La Biblioteca de Alejandría fue denominada por Tito Livio como “El más bello de los monumentos”. Aquel templo del conocimiento fue lo más parecido a la Universidad de nuestro tiempo y en sus legendarias estancias, las corrientes del pensamiento humano depositaron sus secretos. Cuando las legiones romanas de Julio César tomaron Alejandría, unos 400.000 libros fueron quemados y con ellos buena parte de la historia y ciencia del mundo antiguo. Comienzo este texto con la historia de aquella legendaria biblioteca porque cuentan, que en una de aquellas estanterías perdidas, situada junto a la de los libros de los grandes pensadores de la filosofía griega, existió un pequeño anexo dedicado al fútbol.

Un anexo esférico que se salvó del incendio y dio origen a las corrientes de ideas y pensamiento que los grandes genios del fútbol desplegaron sobre un terreno de juego. Y como en aquel entonces cuando con motivo de aquel saqueo el mundo sintió la sensación de pérdida del conocimiento, la luctuosa noticia del fallecimiento de uno de los grandes pensadores del fútbol antiguo y moderno me ha hecho sentir la desesperanza de que con su marcha ardió otro de aquellos libros alejandrinos del pensamiento. Pero como afortunadamente los hombres mueren y las ideas no, su fútbol permanecerá vivo por y para siempre en nuestro recuerdo y a través de la historia que os voy a contar, la de Sócrates.

Erase una vez un sabio tan cabal y tan virtuoso que hasta los dioses del Olimpo del fútbol pronunciaban con respeto y admiración las sílabas de su nombre. Nació en el invierno del año 1954 en Belem, un lugar donde la Amazonia encuentra sus puertas, florecen las orquídeas y habitan los duendes. Le llamaron en el momento de nacer Sócrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira de Oliviera, pero para los hombres fue solo Sócrates, el Doctor del fútbol. Un médico y jugador brasileño que cultivó la medicina, las ideas y el fútbol desde que la razón le situó en el camino de la desigualdad y pudo comprobar que su acomodada infancia no era norma habitual en la vida de un país que se desangraba y agarraba al fútbol para gritar al mundo su verdad. Por ello con su fútbol, su medicina y sus ideas, atendió por igual a príncipes y plebeyos, que sanaron fascinados por su talento, por aquellos 191 centímetros de grandeza y la pequeñez de sus pies (calzaba un 37). Tan extensa fue su fama que a decir de los poetas, si la pelota se hubiera dirigido a él, también la habría curado de sus heridas y golpes del juego.

Y es que Sócrates no hizo otra cosa, que sanar las heridas de la torcida brasileña desde que Botafogo de Ribeirao Preto le otorgó la posibilidad de comenzar a expresar sus ideas a través de sus pies de cirujano sobre un campo de juego. Con aquella evidente y engañosa lentitud de movimientos pero con la cabeza más rápida de su generación. La espigada y kilométrica figura de la elegancia y el prodigioso fútbol de la naturalidad del pueblo brasileño, la prestidigitación con un balón y la interpretación de una idea, un estilo que elevó a la inmortalidad con la camiseta de Corinthians, club al que llegó en 1978 y en el que se convirtió en uno de los mayores ídolos de la historia de ‘O Timao’.

En Corinthians todos se maravillaron de su ciencia e imaginaron que le asistía un poder celestial. Sócrates utilizó su talento futbolístico y su alto grado de educación para erigirse en líder carismático del pueblo. Definido a sí mismo como “artista del fútbol”, siempre tuvo conciencia que el deporte rey movilizaba corazones e ideas, por lo que lideró un movimiento ideológico bautizado como “Democracia Corinthiana”, a través del cual expresó su mensaje de cambio social, su denuncia contra la desigualdad y la realidad de su pueblo, oprimido por los excesos de un rígido y estricto régimen militar. Gracias a la inmunidad que poseen los magos del balón en un país con tanta tradición futbolística como Brasil, pudo retar al régimen y a las altas esferas sociales, entre ellas la dirigencia de su propio club. Sócrates consiguió entre otras cosas que los jugadores pasaran con sus votaciones a participar de las decisiones importantes que tomara el club en calidad de “cogestores” del equipo. Además participó activamente del movimiento “Directas Ya”, que reivindicó entre 1984 y 1985, en el final de la dictadura brasileña, la celebración de elecciones directas para presidente de la República.

Jugó en Corinthians entre 1978 y 1982 dejando para el recuerdo 297 partidos y 172 goles con la camiseta de ‘O Timao’. Nunca fue un deportista modelo, fumaba, bebía y era enemigo de los test físicos, pero salía a un campo de juego y era el socio idóneo para la magia, el gol y la genialidad. En los saberes del fútbol y los proverbios del balón Parque Sao Jorge no encuentra mayor frialdad, mayor talento que el de Sócrates, que les llevó a ser campeones paulistas en 1978, 1982 y 1983. Pero si los que le vimos jugar abrazamos por y para siempre la fe de su fútbol fue por su magistral interpretación de una idea en el Mundial de España de 1982. Un campeonato en el que un armador con la camisa nº8 a su espalda, junto a Zico, Junior, Falcao, Eder y Cerezo, musicalizó las teorías de buen fútbol y pensamiento de un profesor e ideólogo como Telé Santana. Jamás olvidaremos aquella selección, lo más estético y vistoso que muchos de nosotros habíamos contemplado hasta entonces, un fútbol majestuoso que no encontró continuidad en la efectividad, debido en gran medida a la escasa producción de su delantero centro y en otra gran parte debido a la selección más demoledora de todos los tiempos: la Italia de Bearzot y Paolo Rossi.

En cualquier modo aquel fútbol permaneció indeleble en nuestros recuerdos, nuestros corazones, así como la figura de aquel espigado barbudo como director de la orquesta del pan de azúcar. Como dijo el Doctor, la mala suerte se confabuló con aquella selección y el fútbol perdió con ellos. Un fútbol que siguió exhibiendo con toda su majestuosidad en otro mundial más y con las camisetas de Fiorentina, Flamengo, Santos y de nuevo Botafogo. Campeón de Río de Janeiro en 1986 con Flamengo, le cedió el legado de su apellido y leyenda a su hermano Raí, cuando puso a fin a su carrera en 1989 con la camiseta del Santos.

Solamente a un genio como él se le habría ocurrido lanzar una pena máxima de tacón dándole la espalda al gol, quizás por ello cuando dejó de ver la pelota cerca de sus diminutos pies y pese a que siguió ejerciendo su poder curativo a través de la medicina y la palabra, la nostalgia anidó en su alma como le sucedió a Garrincha y a otros tantos dioses rotos del balón que bajaron a los infiernos para ahogar su leyenda en los efluvios alcohólicos del olvido. Aquellos con los que nos llegó la triste noticia de su partida, como no podía ser de otra manera en el hospital Albert Einstein de Sao Paulo, recinto hospitalario con nombre de gran pensador que despidió a un filósofo y un doctor del balón que demostró que los hombres mueren pero las ideas permanecen vivas para siempre.

Falcioni deja de ser el DT de Boca

BUENOS AIRES -- El presidente de Boca Juniors, Daniel Angelici, confirmó que Julio César Falcioni no seguirá como técnico del primer equipo, en una conferencia de prensa en la que le apuntó a Juan Román Riquelme.

Si bien el miércoles pasado el máximo directivo xeneize y el entrenador habían acordado de palabra la renovación, la reprobación de los hinchas que concurrieron el sábado pasado a La Bombonera, en ocasión del partido ante Godoy Cruz, hizo que Angelici cambiara de opinión.

"Después de una conversación que tuve por la tarde con Julio César Falcioni, hemos decidido en forma conjunta la no renovación del contrato. Lo ocurrido el sabado nos hizo reflexionar y pensar que iba a ser difícil trabajar con tanta presión", señaló el presidente en conferencia de prensa.

Y agregó: "Como directivos del club sabemos escuchar el socio, como lo hicimos todo el año. No podemos ser autistas, el sábado La Bombonera habló. A la cancha vienen todos los socios y decidimos con Julio no continuar, en consecuencia de ello".

"Boca Juniors le agradece a Falcioni y su cuerpo técnico lo hecho durante estos años. No tenemos nada que decir en la parte personal, tenemos una relación muy buena. Y lo respetamos en lo profesional, lamentablemente la vara en Boca es muy alta y últimamente el equipo no jugó bien", añadió.

Consultado sobre la posibilidad de llamar a Carlos Bianchi, pedido por la gente el sábado en La Bombonera, el dirigente sostuvo: "Escuchamos al socio todo el año. No descartamos a nadie. No nos vamos a apurar, vamos a tomar la mejor decisión".

Con respecto al próximo entrenador, dijo: "Vamos a tomarnos 48 horas para evaluar bien las posibilidades para tratar de tomar la mejor decisión para Boca Juniors. Vamos a hablar con todos los técnicos que tengamos que hablar. La pretemporada está armada desde hace cuatro meses y el entrenador que venga se va a adaptar a la misma".

UN CAPÍTULO DEDICADO A ROMÁN

Cuando se lo consultó acerca de si las palabras de Riquelme pudieron haber influenciado en los hinchas que concurrieron el sábado a La Boca, opinó: "Creo que la ´cadena nacional´ que hizo Riquelme en distintos programas, predispuso mal a la gente. Y eso se suma a que Boca no viene jugando bien".

Además, negó la posibilidad de que Juan Román Riquelme vuelva al plantel superior. "Román se cerró las puertas solo. Él me dijo que no iba a jugar más en Boca Juniors, que está a disposición del club pero no para ponerse los pantalones cortos. Y yo le creo".

Después habló de la controversia desatada con el ídolo xeneize al negarle la posibilidad de presentarse el pasado sábado en La Bombonera para mostrar el trofeo que le dio la Conmebol, por ser uno de los mejores jugadores en la historia de la Copa Libertadores.

"Cuando me llamó el representante de Riquelme, le dije que el sábado íbamos homenajear a los campeones del 62 por los cincuenta años del título, que le íbamos a entregar una plaqueta a (Martín) Palermo y (Roberto) Abbondanzieri, y que además se le iba a realizar un homenaje a Rolando Schiavi en su despedida del fútbol. Ya estaban programados muchos eventos y por eso le ofrecimos el primer partido del campeonato en febrero para rendirle el homenaje".

Finalmente, hizo un balance de su gestión. "Asumimos hace casi un año y trabajamos con mucha pasión. Creo que cumplimos el 70 por ciento de nuestra plataforma electoral. Cometimos errores pero hemos hecho bastante. Soy consciente de que el hecho de no ganar torneos complica, pero seguiremos trabajando para darle al hincha de Boca las Copas que se merece".

LAS ESTADÍSTICAS DEL EMPERADOR

En su paso por Boca, Falcioni conquistó 2 títulos (Apertura 2011 y la Copa Argentina 2012), llegó a la final de la Copa Libertadores 2012, luchó hasta las últimas fechas por quedarse con el Clausura 2102 y, durante su ciclo, el equipo mantuvo un invicto de 33 partidos.

Fue justamente en el final de ese Clausura 2012, cuando la posición de Falcioni comenzó a tambalear: En la fecha 17 visitó a Banfield y empató 1-1. El Taladro estaba prácticamente descendido y jugó 86 minutos con un hombre menos, y Boca necesitó que Santiago Ladino marcara un gol en contra para llevarse un punto
.
Boca comenzaba a despedirse del título y el golpe de gracia se lo dio una fecha más tarde Arsenal, que lo goleó 3-0 en la mismísima Bombonera, en uno de los peores partidos del equipo durante ese campeonato.

La caída ante el Corinthians en la final de la Copa Libertadores provocó la ruptura definitiva entre Falcioni y los hinchas, que, en realidad, nunca vivieron "un romance" con el Emperador.

Y el flojo nivel expresado en el Torneo Inicial terminó con la paciencia de los simpatizantes, que el sábado pidieron a gritos la salida del técnico, que se fue por la puerta de atrás, más allá de haber cosechado más lauros que otros entrenadores que fueron menos reprobados.

Estos son los números que Julio César Falcioni cosechó como entrenador de Boca Juniors, cargo al cual accedió el 22 de diciembre de 2010, cuando reemplazó a Claudio Borghi.

Tinelli quiere dos jugadores de nivel

BUENOS AIRES -- El animador y vicepresidente de San Lorenzo, Marcelo Tinelli, admitió este lunes que buscarán contratar "dos jugadores de nivel" para reforzar al plantel con vistas al próximo campeonato, en el que deberán al menos mantener el rendimiento de la última parte del torneo Inicial para no volver a sufrir con el Promedio del descenso.

Al mismo tiempo, aclaró que si no llegan jugadores de jerarquía se quedarán con lo que hay actualmente en el plantel, que, indicó, también proveerá "refuerzos importantes" con la recuperación de algunos jugadores que no consiguieron continuidad en este último semestre por diversas lesiones.

"La idea es traer dos jugadores de nivel, sino nos quedaremos con lo que tenemos. Además, los refuerzos más importantes serán los que jugaron poco en este campeonato. Romagnoli será importante a partir de marzo, Piatti es importante, Aguiar también, Jara con una buena pretemporada, Voboril...", enumeró el empresario televisivo.

Tinelli comentó, en esa dirección, que la colaboración de algunos sponsors con las contrataciones será "bienvenida" y explicó que el aspecto económico es "la principal traba a la hora de hacer contrataciones".

En diálogo con radio 9, remarcó que el club dejó de ser Kosovo, en alusión al territorio que se disputan varios países de la península de los Balcanes, y que ahora, lejos de la zona de descenso, con una cosecha de 14 puntos en las últimas seis fechas del torneo y pese al pasico de 200 millones de pesos, está "ordenado", con "los empleados al día".

Por último, elogió la tarea de Juan Antonio Pizzi: "Es el perfil que nos gusta a todos y queríamos. En la charla de presentación, nos impresionó". "Es tranquilo, medido con sus palabras, pero a la vez muy claro con sus conceptos. Le dio identidad al equipo", concluyó Tinelli

Cuba rallies to overcome French Guyana

NORTH SOUND, Antigua -- Cuba rallied from a one-goal deficit to defeat French Guyana 2-1 in the Caribbean Cup finals on Monday and thrust itself back into contention for a semifinal berth. The win at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium created a temporary three-way tie for first-place in Group B between Cuba, French Guyana and Martinique, each on three points. Martinique was to face Jamaica later in the evening.

French Guyana, which upended the two-time defending champion Jamaicans 2-1 on Saturday, went ahead in the 16th minute thanks to the continued fine play of Jean-Claude Darcheville. The former Rangers star turned on his marker, advanced towards the 18-yard box and found Gary Pigree, who beat Cuban goalkeeper Odelin Molina. It was Pigree´s second goal of the finals and his seventh in the competition this year..

The Cubans started inch back into the game with Alberto Gomez, Marcel Hernandez and Jaine Colome Valencia providing the offensive impetus in the search for an equalizer. French Guyana goalkeeper, Laurent Petchy, however, did well to keep the ball out of his own net.

Cuba, which lost its opener 2-1 to Martinique, started the second half on the attack, knowing that it needed at least a point to keep its hopes alive.

Colome Valencia had a shot saved by Petchy and saw another effort slam of a post. He visibly shook his head in disbelief, clearly questioning what he needed to do to get his name on the scoresheet.

French Guyana could have put the game away in the 71st minute, but Lesly Malouda -- with only Molina to beat -- shot wide.

That miss would prove to be costly three minutes later. Second-half Cuban substitute Ariel Martinez knotted the score from 18-yards after dribbling past two defenders and firing past a diving Pecthy.

The suddenly self-assured Martinez completed his brace and won the game for the Lions of the Caribbean with a 76th minute diving header off an inviting pass floated in by Yaudel Lahera.

The victory ended Cuba´s three-game winless streak and put it back on track for a possible seventh appearance in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Cuba will complete Group B play on Wednesday against Jamaica, while French Guyana will face Jamaica the same day.


10-man Jamaica draws with Martinique

NORTH SOUND, Antigua - Another Caribbean power could potentially miss a trip to the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup as Martinique played two-time defending champion Jamaica to a 0-0 draw in Group B play at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. The result left the Reggae Boyz with one point from two games - the same as Trinidad & Tobago in Group A -- while Les Matinino took sole possession of first place on four points.

Jamaica, which has advanced to the final round of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying for Brazil 2014, was hoping to bounce back from a 2-1 opening loss to French Guyana on Saturday. Instead, Theodore Whitmore´s side faces the realization that even a win over Cuba in the last group game of Wednesday might not be enough to ensure a ninth appearance at the confederation biennial championship.

Martinique, on the other hand, needs only a draw against French Guyana to seal qualification to the CONCACAF event for the first time since 2003.

Cuba and French Guyana are tied for second with three points apiece.

The dynamic duo of Kevin Parsemain and Frederic Piquionne fueled Martinique throughout the match, peppering the Jamaican goal with a steady stream of shots.

Jamaica, however, came closest to scoring in the first half, when midfielder Demar Phillips attempted an acrobatic bicycle kick that just missed finding the target.

The Jamaicans knew that a loss could spell the end of their Caribbean campaign. The task of preventing that possibility was made more difficult after Phillips was ejected in the 62nd minute for a hard tackle on Parsemain.

Three minutes later, Whitmore called on 1998 World Cup finals veteran Ricardo Gardner to enter the game. And while the Jamaican fans in attendance were hoping to see the long-time Bolton Wanderers stalwart, 34, make an offensive impact, he assumed a more stabilizing role in the midfield.

Martinique tried to exploit the man advantage in search of the win. Its only genuine chance, though, came in the 85th minute after a Parsemain attempt was misplayed by Jamaican goalkeeper Dwayne Miller.

Jamaica has reached the quarterfinal stage in three of the last five Gold Cups.

Hehe, ja for søren. Det er en spændende virksomhed, så sådan er det. Jeg overvejer faktisk at tage 1 eller 2 semestre i Univerisdade Federal de Santa Cathriana. Eftersom det er muligt hos Århus Universitet som jeg nok højst sandsynligt flytter over til fra sommeren.
