Nesta quinta-feira (13), o Grêmio apresentou os seus dois primeiros reforços para a temporada de 2013. São eles o atacante Willian José, que veio do São Paulo, e o lateral-esquerdo Alex Telles, que pertencia ao Juventude.

O atacante era jogador do Tricolor paulista até ontem, quando jogou a final da Copa Sul-Americana pelo clube do Morumbi. O Santos também estava interessado na sua contratação, mas o Grêmio atravessou o negócio, a pedido do técnico Vanderlei Luxemburgo.

- Nem dormi direito. Ontem (quarta-feira) conquistei meu primeiro título como profissional no São Paulo (a Copa Sul-Americana), e espero dar continuidade aqui no Grêmio no ano que vem e ganhar a Libertadores - disse Willian José.

Já Alex Telles chega para tentar suprir uma carência do elenco, que se ressentia de um lateral-esquerdo:

- Vou buscar meu espaço aqui aos poucos. Quero ajudar o Grêmio, crescer muito aqui. O Luxemburgo e o Roger também eram laterais esquerdos, e quero aproveitar essa experiência deles. É um desafio grande, uma oportunidade única, e quero aproveitar ao máximo.

Fluminense espera apenas exames médicos para anunciar o atacante Rhayner

Apenas os exames médicos faltam para que o acerto do Fluminense com o atacante Rhayner, que estava no Náutico, seja anunciado. O jogador se encaixa no perfil pedido pelo técnico Abel Braga -- um atacante de velocidade, que chegue para brigar por posição. Rhayner tem seus direitos federativos ligados ao Tombense, clube mineiro de propriedade do empresário Eduardo Uram, e chega ao Flu por empréstimo até o fim de 2014.

Apesar de ser atacante, Rhayner não marcou nenhum gol no Brasileirão de 2012, mas deu cinco assistências e foi o jogador do Náutico que mais roubou bolas e o que mais sofreu faltas em todo o campeonato. O jogador não balança as redes desde janeiro de 2011, quando jogava no Barueri.

- Sou mais meia do que atacante. Ajudo na marcação e também chego ao ataque. Realmente tem essa questão do jejum, mas pessoalmente não é uma coisa que me incomoda. Posso não ter marcado no Brasileiro, mas ajudei o Náutico a balançar as redes várias vezes, o que ameniza a situação, na minha opinião. E no Fluminense não tem problema de gols, né? Eu deixo para o Fred resolver essa (risos) - falou Rhayner.

Kender ikke rigtigt til Rhayner, men nu er Nautico heller ikke et hold jeg følger "tæt"...måske Samba kan kaste lidt lys over den kære angriber - han er velment som Back up til Fred ? eller hur...

Kan sgu godt lige Mr. Vickery...er vel en af de mest kompetente europæere på sydamerikansk fodbold, desværre er han vel det eneste fodboldmæssige Orakel de har i UK.

Ret beset er det vel kun vores egen Sambafodbold der når ham (efter nu at have fulgt Sambas fodboldblog igennem en længere tid) - Det er sgu vigtigt at de personer der skriver om sydamerikansk fodbold - har opholdt sig i verdensdelen og taler sprogene hvadtenten det er spansk eller portugesisk eller begge - samt har indsigt i de lokale samfundsforhold.

Med den rette branding kan Samba sgu blive den nye Per Høyer Hansen og tilmed overgå denne inden for fodboldjournalistikken...knægten har potentiale ! :-)

Willian José virker da som en meget bevæglige angriber? Muligvis vil Vanerlei kører 4-2-2-1-1 og køre Willian som hængende? Nu får vi at se.

Striker Aloísio completes São Paulo medical

Figueirense striker Aloísio has undergone medical tests at São Paulo ahead of completing a move to the Série A giants when his contract expires at the end of December.

Aloísio, 24, scored 14 times for relegated Figueirense this campaign and won many plaudits for his showings in what was the league´s weakest side, with a move to São Paulo under discussion for some time.

Now, with the agreement already in place, final proceedings are taking place to secure the move of the striker from parent club Tombense for the new season.

The striker´s medical examination took place at Hcor on Thursday, alongside left full-back Thiago Carleto who will return to the side from a loan spell at champions Fluminense and attacking midfielder Negueba, who will join on-loan from Flamengo.

Aloísio will supplement former national team striker Luis Fabiano in attack for São Paulo, replacing the departing Willian José, and could soon also be joined by Cruzeiro´s Wallyson.

Tror Gremio går et stort 2013 i møde.....

Grêmio to play first leg of Copa Libertadores playoff away from home on 23rd January

Grêmio’s draw with city rivals Internacional on the last day of the season saw them drop from second place to third and, as a result, have to qualify for the group stages of the Copa Libertadores via a playoff in January.

The club were given the choice of playing the first leg of the qualifier at home or away and have opted to play away from Porto Alegre on 23rd January, meaning the home leg will take place at the new stadium early in February, despite not yet knowing who their opponent will be.

Vanderlei Luxemburgo’s team ended their season on the 9th December after the friendly against German club Hamburg to open the new Grêmio Arena and will return for pre-season training on 3rd January.

Missing out on second place could prove costly for the club as they will only have three weeks to prepare for the vital Libertadores clash before the first leg and will play the first game of the Gaúcho State Championship just three days before.

This puts extra pressure on player recruitment and having a successful training camp in Londrina, Paraná, to make sure their season gets off to an ideal start.

Sports Minister: Host cities will be ready for 2014

Brazil´s deputy sports minister has insisted that all twelve cities are on track for completion in time for the 2014 World Cup despite some setbacks at Manaus.

Luis Fernandes, deputy sports minister, insisted that all twelve host cities will be ready in time for the event.

"There is no threat whatsoever to any of the 12 host cities not being ready in time," Fernandes told international journalists. "We are confident that all the host cities are confirmed and there are no threats to any of them."

Last month, FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke expressed concern that Manaus would not be ready in time.

"For us, the Brazilian government and our partners at municipal and state level the World Cup is an historic opportunity to ferment national development and that involves establishing regional development throughout the country," Fernandes said on Wednesday.

"Manaus is in the heart of the Amazon jungle and that has added to the complexity of organising the World Cup there. It is not an area that has easy access as other cities do so it demands special attention because of the specific nature of the city.

"But we are in continuous discussions with the state government in terms of guaranteeing that all essential investment in terms of having the World Cup there is in place.

"I don´t think it is correct to say it is behind schedule with respect to what is essential for the World Cup to be there but there are a number of special challenges. Boats have to get there because they are going to be used as accommodation during the World Cup.

"We have to discuss whether people will stay there for the games or stay in other regions and fly in for games. There is no obstacle in place that will threaten Manaus hosting matches in 2014."

Cruzeiro forward Wallyson set to complete São Paulo move

Following Figueirense striker Aloísio in undertaking medical examinations at São Paulo is Cruzeiro forward Wallyson, who will land in the city on Friday to complete his transfer.

Like Aloísio, 23-year-old Wallyson is also out-of-contract at the end of the month and São Paulo have swooped in to attempt to bring the once highly-rated forward to the Morumbi.

Wallyson enjoyed a fine spell at Cruzeiro in early-2011, shining in the Copa Libertadores, beforee a serious ankle injury put him out of action for the best part of six months.

Having struggled to regain his place in the side, the lightening fast forward recently admitted that he is still feeling pain from the injury and will need further treatment.

São Paulo, though, are willing to give Wallyson a shot at taking the next step in his career as they look to increase their wide options—with Flamengo youngster Negueba already confirmed on a loan-deal.

São Paulo manager Ney Franco has been known to utilise wide forwards and appears to wish to continue this trend with the club next season.

Palmeiras consider signing Juan Román Riquelme – Report

Relegated Palmeiras are looking into the possibility of signing veteran Boca Juniors midfielder Juan Román Riquelme for next season according to Lancenet!, although the move is not universally supported throughout the club.

Riquelme, 34, has not played since Boca lost the final of the Copa Libertadores to Corinthians in July after declaring that he had nothing left to give the Buenos Aires club.

São Paulo giants Palmeiras are a club in turmoil at the moment after being relegated from the Brazilian top flight this year, despite winning the Copa do Brasil earlier in the season.

The club see the Argentine number 10 as the ideal player to help get them challenge for promotion, but more importantly being able to contribute to their Copa Libertadores campaign, for which they qualified as a result of the cup success.

However, the board at Palmeiras are not enamoured with the idea of signing the playmaker due to his age. They have been angered by the presence of Chilean midfielder Jorge Valdívia, who has largely been in poor form or injured since his return in 2010, in the squad and are trying to move the player on.

Riquelme has also been linked with moves to Santos and Cruzeiro in recent months.


Corinthians defender Paulo André compares the threat of Chelsea star Eden Hazard to Neymar

Corinthians defender Paulo André has warned his teammates of the threat of Chelsea forward Eden Hazard ahead of the Fifa Club World Cup final on Sunday in Yokohama.

André, 29, is well aware of the Belgian’s ability after playing against him in the French Ligue 1 while he was at Le Mans and Hazard was still at Lille, and the centre back believes that he poses a similar threat to his fellow countryman Neymar.

"Hazard plays very left and shall fall into Alessandro’s area of the pitch,” André is quoted as saying by Globo Esporte.

“He is a player who combines strength with speed, has great skill and often passed through the right side (of Monterrey in the semi-final).

“I played against him in France and know him well and know we need to reduce the space he has, perhaps very much like what we did with Neymar in the semi-final of the Libertadores.”

On that occasion Corinthians, who beat Santos 1-0, managed to nullify the Brazilian star and will be hoping to do the same to Hazard this weekend.
