Apenas os exames médicos faltam para que o acerto do Fluminense com o atacante Rhayner, que estava no Náutico, seja anunciado. O jogador se encaixa no perfil pedido pelo técnico Abel Braga -- um atacante de velocidade, que chegue para brigar por posição. Rhayner tem seus direitos federativos ligados ao Tombense, clube mineiro de propriedade do empresário Eduardo Uram, e chega ao Flu por empréstimo até o fim de 2014.

Apesar de ser atacante, Rhayner não marcou nenhum gol no Brasileirão de 2012, mas deu cinco assistências e foi o jogador do Náutico que mais roubou bolas e o que mais sofreu faltas em todo o campeonato. O jogador não balança as redes desde janeiro de 2011, quando jogava no Barueri.

- Sou mais meia do que atacante. Ajudo na marcação e também chego ao ataque. Realmente tem essa questão do jejum, mas pessoalmente não é uma coisa que me incomoda. Posso não ter marcado no Brasileiro, mas ajudei o Náutico a balançar as redes várias vezes, o que ameniza a situação, na minha opinião. E no Fluminense não tem problema de gols, né? Eu deixo para o Fred resolver essa (risos) - falou Rhayner.

Rhayner excited to join Fluminense in 2013

His transfer to Fluminense may not have been officially announced, but attacking midfielder Rhayner has already spoken of his excitement at joining the Carioca side.

Rhayner, 22, may not have found the net this season, but contributed six assists to his team´s cause and has attracted attention from the likes of Santos.

However, it has been reported over the last few days that a deal to take him to league champions Fluminense has already been agreed and will be completed pending completion of a medical.

"My desire to play there is great. It would be an honour to wear a powerful shirt like this," he told Radio Tupi.

"Every player aspires to play for a club like Fluminense, the Brazilian champions, who have a wonderful squad. If you play at Fluminense at the moment, you know you will compete for the Copa Libertadores title."

It is reported that the attacking midfielder will undergo a medical examination at the Rio de Janeiro club next week.

São Paulo turn attention to Lúcio - reports

According to reports in Brazil, São Paulo have turned their attention to signing Juventus centre-back Lúcio, having finalised a raft of attacking additions in recent days.

Lúcio, 34, has been vocal in expressing his disappointment at Juventus in recent times, having found his first-team opportunities at the Turin outfit limited.

São Paulo are hoping to build a squad that can challenge for the Copa Libertadores next season and believe that they require another leading centre-back for next season.

The Paulista club added youngster Rafael Toloi to their squad midway through the season and he has quickly struck up an impressive partnership with the towering Rhodolfo.

However, the club´s directors are believed to consider Toloi too inexperienced to mount a challenge in the Libertadores and hope to secure an experienced replacement ahead of the 2013 season.

Should they fail to secure Lúcio, it is thought that São Paulo will look to secure a player of similar profile—with Uruguay´s Diego Lugano an option.

Neymar: Corinthians can beat Chelsea at Club World Cup

Santos and Brazil forward Neymar believes that Corinthians can emerge victorious from this weekend´s Club World Cup final with Chelsea, but insists he will not be supporting either side.

Neymar, 20, has been on holiday in America in recent weeks but is looking forward to watching the game in Japan, with many of his international team-mates set to feature for both sides.

While the young star´s Santos side were unable to secure global glory in last year´s tournament, when they were comprehensively beaten by Barcelona in the final, he believes that Corinthians could shock Chelsea in Yokohama.

"I think it´s possible that Corinthians could win. Football is unpredictable," Neymar is quoted as saying by Xinhua. "I´m not going to cheer for either team, I have friends on both sides."

The final between South America and Europe´s finest will take place on Sunday at 10.30am GMT and will be covered live on BBC 2 in the United Kingdom.

Takker, men der er laaaaang vej endnu. Har netop hørte podcasten med Tim & Co. Det var creme for ørerne. De fik sat et årets hold, fundets årets profil samt snakket om den tossede brasilianske fodboldkalender. Der er kun et udfald, og det er væk med de regionale turneringer og gøre plads til at Serie A kan ligge stille, når der skal spilles landskampe.

Aloísio bliver spændende at følge.

Hehehe.. Mine brødre ville dræbe mig, hvis jeg sagde, at jeg var Vasco-fan... Så jeg må nok hellere holde mig sammen med byens-bastards i Flamengo. Har dog altid haft et godt øje for Botafogo. Men nu snakker vi kun Rio selvfølgelig;-)

Det er så fedt at se disse opvisningskampe i Brasilien som går de lavest rangede i samfundet. Fodbold har så stor værdi for netop disse ting.

Jeg synes, at Lúcio i São Paulo ville blive fuldstændig skræmmende. I Grêmio har Gilberto Silva blevet sat længere tilbage på banen i midterforsvaret med vanvittig effekt. Han har været outstanding i denne sæson pga.. hans uforsigelighed som han nok har hapset i England. Synd, han røg til Galo.
Tror Lúcio kan give samme effekt.. Og hvis São Paulo så beholder Rhodolfo.. Avs

hehehe jeg troede sgu du var Vasco - men sætter da pris på endnu en Mengão-supporter...vil de sige Samba er den eneste Vasco-supporter...han skal iøvrigt også roses for at tale pænt om Paulista-klubberne...det finder jeg selv svært....;-)

Syntes det er fedt at brasilianske klubber er begyndt på det og at de henter andre sydamerikanske profiler hjem og fra Uruguay, Peru, Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, osv ...vi har brug for en stærk liga i Sydamerika selvom argentinerne ikke er glade for udviklingen...:-)

Londoño has Nicaragua U17s on the move

SAN MIGUEL PETAPA, Guatemala -- In a tournament at which some of the usual regional favorites have struggled, one of this year´s surprises at the 2012 UNCAF Under-17 Championship has been Nicaragua.

The upstart Nicaraguans have tied two of their first three games, nearly upending host Guatemala and regional power Costa Rica, and putting themselves in position to qualify potentially for the regional championship on the final match day.

But the team´s competitiveness only comes as a surprise to those who haven´t been paying attention to Central American football of late. The country that was long the underdog of the region has been improving steadily in recent years, pulling closer to some of its more accomplished neighbors.

"We know that as a country, Nicaragua is more about baseball than football," said the country´s recently installed U-17 coach, Colombian Luis Londoño. "But we also know that with hard work and time things can change.

"We came here to fight, to try to gain experience, and to get the kids to understand that you have to work and improve constantly."

To achieve that level of progress, Londoño may be just the man for the job. A 17-year veteran of working with youth development in countries including Ecuador, Argentina, as well as his native Colombia, Londoño has taken the role of leader of a young group that has shown well in Guatemala.

"Many of the kids come from FIFA´s Project Goal, which was founded a few years ago, others from nationwide scouting we´ve done, and still others have come to us and simply asked for the chance to be seen," said the coach.

That process, along with Londoño´s careful efforts at lending the team shape and discipline, has yielded a squad that plays with order and purpose, as evidenced by holding regional heavyweights Guatemala and Costa Rica scoreless in encounters this week.

Londoño - who is also the strength trainer for Nicaragua´s full national team - says it´s all part of a long-term youth development project to which Nicaraguan Football Federation officials have committed.

"We proposed a project to the Federation in terms of improving the youth ranks. They said ´OK,´ and we´ve been at it for seven months," said the Colombian. "I know we can do still more and the results can get even better."

The country got a taste of those potential returns just a couple months ago, when Nicaragua shocked host Honduras by beating the Catrachos to a place in next year´s CONCACAF Under-20 Championship in Mexico.

"What the U-20s did in Honduras sets the pace for us," added Londoño. "We want to define a style of play, and the U-20s are right there ahead of us in terms of that, setting the pace."

As for his U-17s, Londoño says his objectives are even greater than qualifying for the CONCACAF finals, which Nicaragua could do with a win in its closing match on Saturday. The Colombian hopes to take Nicaragua´s U-17s to their first ever World Cup next year.

"My goal is the United Arab Emirates," the coach said. "My short-term goal is Panama (site of the 2013 CONCACAF Under-17 Championship finals). There are still two results we need, and we´re hoping to do out part and win, get the three points to be able to advance."

On Saturday morning at Estadio Julio Armando Cobar, Nicaragua faces already eliminated El Salvador in the opening match of the tournament´s final round. A victory would put Londoño´s team on five points, temporarily even with Guatemala and one point ahead of Costa Rica pending the final match of the day, between those two squads.
