Argentina´s træner den tidligere verdensmester Marcelo Trobbiani, med lidt opvarmning forud for mødet med Chile.

Trobbiani: "Jugar bien y hacer daño"

MENDOZA -- El director técnico del seleccionado argentino Sub 20 de fútbol, Marcelo Trobbiani, aseguró el martes que tiene "equipo para jugar bien y hacer daño", pero advirtió que mañana ante Chile, en el debut en el Sudamericano de la categoría en Mendoza, tendrán que cuidarse "de las contras".

"Lo principal es jugar muy bien, pero eso no significa que toquemos la pelotita y no hagamos daño. Tengo equipo para hacer daño, porque si no fuera así otro sería nuestro juego. Y también los jugadores se adaptaron bien a este sistema", indicó.

Trobbiani explicó que espera de sus dirigidos "mucho juego por afuera y por adentro, que tengan mucha movilidad", pero que cuando pierdan "la pelota intenten recuperarla lo antes posible". "Sabemos que el sacrificio no es una característica de estos jugadores, pero tienen una gran actitud, están muy compenetrados entre ellos, es un gran grupo y lo saben", señaló.

Al término de la última práctica de cara al debut del miércoles ante Chile, realizada en el estadio `Feliciano Gambarte` de Godoy Cruz, Trobbiani comentó que fue "clarito" desde que llegó "hace nueve meses" al respecto de que quiere "un juego con mucho talento", pero que a la vez "se sacrifiquen para recuperar el balón".

"Siempre busqué inculcarles a los jugadores que jueguen con mucho talento, con mucha velocidad por abajo, pero también que tienen que sacrificarse cuando no tenemos la pelota", detalló.

Con respecto al duelo del miércoles ante Chile, en Mendoza, el DT advirtió que tendrán que cuidarse "de las contras".

"Ellos jugarán seguramente con un 4-2-3-1, con un solo delantero, intentarán robarnos la pelota y salir rápido de contragolpe", enfatizó.

"Nos hemos entrenado para todo. Seguramente los dominadores del juego seremos nosotros, pero habrá que tener cuidado con las contras de ellos", añadió.

Por último, Trobbiani resaltó que "el tema de la entrega es verso de todos los técnicos" y que él cree que "todo depende del juego y el talento".

"Lo más fácil es jugar ordenado: ubicás ocho tipos atrás y listo. Lo difícil es atacar y no quedar desordenado, por eso trataremos de buscar la victoria con buen juego", finalizó.

Fluminense defender Gum reveals his frustration over his lack of international recognition

Fluminense defender Gum has revealed his frustration over his lack of international recognition despite his excellent form at club level.

Gum, 27, was inspirational in defence for Fluminense as they clinched the Brasileirão title last season, his second since joining the club in 2009, but is upset that his form has yet to be recognised by the Seleção

“It is a goal of mine, yes. A dream to be conquered,” he told Globo Esporte.

“I am very happy at Fluminense and got what I wanted last year. It could have happened in that classic against Argentina, but did not.

“I was upset, sad, but then it generated an even greater desire to have a better 2013. If I do better than I did in 2012, I know it will happen naturally.”

The form the defender showed last season was even more surprising given that he came after recovering from the worst injury of his career.

“I prepared a lot for it. I searched a lot of strength in my family, to God and when I came back I had the opportunity to make up with my best.

“That´s what I prepared. I always wanted to play the next game better than the last. I thank God because I really played several games with great potential. It was the best year of my career.

“The injury was not easy. I stopped for a long time and I had to work hard to regain my physical and technical level.

“A year that began with much difficulty and finished as the best of all.”

And Gum, who moved to Fluminense from Ponte Preta in 2009, is happy and settled at Fluminense but admits that he could be tempted to move if the offer was right.

“Sure. My wife joked with me until the day of pre-season training and said: ‘I think we will not get out of Rio. You will retire here.’

“I´ve had proposals that did not advance. I am very happy at Fluminense. I love this club and I hope to win more titles here. If you get an offer, we will sit down and talk but it has to be a very good thing for me and Flu.”


Vasco da Gama in talks with Malaga over signing Júlio Baptista – Report

Vasco da Gama are reported to be in talks with Malaga over signing former Real Madrid midfielder Júlio Baptista.

According to Lancenet!, Júlio Baptista, 31, who has been out injured for Malaga since March last year due to a hip injury, is believed to have been offered to Vasco this week by his Spanish club, possibly due to the rise of their young Spanish playmaker Isco in Baptista’s absence.

Vasco refused to comment on the deal, but the report suggests that the club’s board see Baptista as the ideal big name that the team needs following the loss of Juninho and Felipe in the last month.

Baptista, who spent one year on loan at Arsenal during the 2006-2007 season, started his career at São Paulo before moving to Sevilla in 2003. His impressive form at Sevilla earned him a move to Real Madrid but the move didn’t work out and, after his spell in England, he moved to Roma in Italy and then eventually moved back to Spain with Malaga in 2010


PSG sporting director Leonardo: It is up to Nenê to decide his future

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has revealed that it is up to Brazilian forward Nenê to decide his future.

Nenê, 31, who wants to leave the French giants and return to Brazil after falling out with coach Carlo Ancelotti, has only having six months left on his contract and is a target for a number of clubs, with Santos, Besiktas and Al-Arabi showing most interest.

“It is he who him what he decides, but if he decides to stay, he stays,” Leonardo is quoted by Globo Esporte.

“He has got pretty things here, but he is 31 years old and there are six other players in the same position, younger and with room to improve. PSG has lots of competition and you have to accept it.”

Leanardo confirmed that the signing of Lucas Moura will be the only business the club will do this January but did not rule out a move for Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo in the future,

“PSG has become the club where anything is possible. Ronaldo has a big contract with Real, there is nothing concrete and there is no contact. But when it comes to the transfer of a grand player like him, there are four or five clubs he can play for and PSG is one of them.”


Santos to target Carlos Eduardo as plan B if Nenê deal falls through

Santos will look to Rubin Kazan forward Carlos Eduardo if the deal to bring Paris Saint-Germain winger Nenê falls through.

Nenê, 31, has been told he is free to leave the Parc des Princes this January as he has just six months left on his contract and has fallen out of favour with coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Santos are looking to sign a forward who can play on the right hand side of the attack and, while they have players already who could play this role, coach Muricy Ramalho has set his sights on a big name.

Robinho was their first choice but that deal has fallen through and Diego Souza and Renato Augusto were also considered but they chose to sign for Cruzeiro and Corinthians respectively.

“Our priority is Nenê,” Santos sports director Felipe Faro told Lancenet!

“If he does not arrive, we will try others. Carlos Eduardo was a name that appeared, but we have nothing. Hiring him is not easy, since the Russian club paid around €20 million for him.

Santos are close to having their squad ready for the new season, having already signed six players with Cicero, Guilherme Santos, Montillo, Neto, Pinga and Rene Jr all joining the club.

However, they are still on the lookout for any possible deals that can improve the squad.

“In planning we wanted a winger, a second defensive midfielder, a playmaker, a striker and an attacking midfielder. We opened negotiations with several possibilities, let´s see what we can close,” added Santos president Odílio Rodrigues.


Palmeiras to make new approach for Boca Juniors midfielder Juan Román Riquelme

Palmeiras have confirmed they intend to make a new approach for Boca Juniors midfielder Juan Román Riquelme.

Riquelme, 34, confirmed last week that he would definitely be leaving the Argentine giants, despite their new coach Carlos Bianchi trying to convince the former Barcelona star to stay at the club.

“Last Friday we made another appointment, to ask the conditions, but he did not answer. We do not want to make proposals, we want to know the conditions before,” Palmeiras president Arnaldo Tirone told Lancenet!

The midfielder has not played since July after Boca lost the Copa Libertadores final to Corinthians, with Riquelme refusing to return to La Bombonera, saying he had given all he could to the club.

One of the problems Palmeiras, who were relegated from the top flight of Brazilian football last season, face in their attempts to sign the Argentine star is the financial demands of the player.

A way to fund the player’s salary would be with an outside investment, similar to how São Paulo managed to link up with a car dealership and Visa to help fund Lucio’s wages.

However, the club are worried that at 34, and having not played since July, not many companies will be attracted to such a proposal.

Roma og Gremio er ifølge FIFA agent og ekspert i brasiliansk fodbold Gianfranco Cicchetti blevet enige om en handel som sender Marquinho hjem til Brasilien og giver Roma købsoption på Fernando.

"Roma har som en del af Marquinho handlen indgået en aftale med Gremio om en købsoption på Fernando. En købsoption på omkring 5 mio. euro, som udløber efter denne sæson," fortalte Cicchetti til gazzettagiallorossa.it.

"Han er af de bedste brasilianske spillere der er på vej frem og han er allerede fast mand på Gremios hold. Han er en dygtig midtbanespiller, som vil passe godt ind på Zemans hold. På nuværende tidspunkt er han med det Brasilianske U-20 landshold til det Sydamerikanske mesterskab."

Marquinho forventes at skifte til Gremio på en lejeaftale med købsoption. Fernando, som Roma altså skal have fået købsoption på, er en 20-årig central midtbanespiller der siden 2009 har spillet 116 kampe for Gremio og scoret 9 mål. Han har også fået sin debut på det brasilianske landshold.

Cicchetti gik derefter videre til at fortælle om to andre unge brasilianske talenter.

"Doria? Jeg ved at Roma var interesseret i ham, men Juventus har allerede indgået en aftale med Botafogo om at købe ham til sommer for 5 mio. euro."

"Wallace? Roma har allerede fremsendt et tilbud til Chelsea om en lejeaftale med købsoption. Det er et skifte som er muligt, men stadig afhænger meget af hvad spilleren selv ønsker."

Gago: "Nunca dije que quería irme"

VALENCIA -- El centrocampista argentino del Valencia Fernando Gago aseguró que respeta el club en el que está y negó que haya dicho que quería dejar la entidad, a pesar de que durante el mes de diciembre se informó desde su país que el Boca Juniors había negociado su contratación.

"Estoy muy tranquilo, dije siempre que soy muy de respetar al club donde estoy. Jamás dije que me quería ir, no se lo dije ni al presidente, ni al técnico ni a nadie. Se pueden inventar muchas cosas, se dicen cosas no sé por qué, pero tengo la tranquilidad en lo que a mi respecta", señaló en declaraciones a la televisión del club.

"Valencia tampoco me dijo que tuviera una oferta por mí, así que no tengo derecho ni por qué hablar con nadie. Si hay clubes interesados por mí me gusta porque significa que estoy haciendo las cosas bien, pero hoy por hoy tengo la cabeza acá, estoy tranquilo y tratando recuperarme de la lesión", agregó.

El internacional argentino, que no ha comparecido públicamente desde que regresó de las vacaciones navideñas en su país, señaló que "si los jugadores tuviéramos que aclarar cada cosa que se dice nos pasaríamos la vida en la prensa diciendo no. Hay muchas cosas que se dicen que se quedan el aire, lo que se diga fuera no se corresponde a lo que pueda hacer yo", recalcó.

El centrocampista, que fichó este verano por el Valencia procedente del Real Madrid, comentó: "Lo disfruté mucho y sigo disfrutando de estar acá, en una ciudad hermosa, muy cómoda. Mi familia está muy bien y eso es lo más importante", subrayó.

Gago también negó que tras la destitución del técnico argentino Mauricio Pellegrino hubiera solicitado al club poder abandonar el Valencia. "Es algo que también siempre se dijo, pero yo solamente trato de hacer lo mejor con el entrenador que esté", señaló.

"No tengo ninguna relación con el técnico anterior ni tampoco la pretendo tener con el técnico de este momento. Sólo soy un jugador, trato de hacer lo mejor para el equipo y si el entrenador se fue, se debió a que los jugadores hicimos las cosas mal y no pudimos hacer lo que pretendía", prosiguió.

Además, negó que haya tenido problemas en el vestuario. "No me siento ninguna figura, todos somos iguales, el grupo es lo más importante. Nunca hubo ningún problema en el vestuario, puede haber discusiones en un partido que son normales, pero la actitud y la mentalidad nunca dejó de estar", comentó.

Sobre su lesión muscular, Gago aseguró que durante las vacaciones navideñas trabajó en su recuperación. "Venía muy bien, pero la pasada semana una pequeña molestia retrasó un poco más el trabajo. No fue una recaída porque estaría otro mes fuera, fue una molestia y por suerte es sólo una semana mas. El alta médica es cuestión de días", relató.

Tras lograr el martes la clasificación para los cuartos de final de la Copa del Rey, Gago destacó que "tenemos que tener la mentalidad de salir a buscar las tres competiciones, hay que seguir mientras matemáticamente se pueda luchar por todo".

Este triunfo copero ante el Osasuna incrementa las estadísticas positivas del entrenador Ernesto Valverde desde su llegada en sustitución de Mauricio Pellegrino.

"Ahora está otro entrenador y hay que tratar de adaptarse a lo que quiere y a lo que busca para el equipo. Los resultados ayudan y hay que buscar tener una regularidad, ser más consistentes en el juego pero es cuestión de tiempo, hay que darle tiempo al entrenador que ha llegado ahora y seguir trabajando lo que quede de temporada", concluyó.

Brasileirão ranked second best league of 2012

The Brasileirão was the world´s second strongest league in 2012, according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

The IFFHS, which was set up in 1984 with the blessing of FIFA, takes into account the level of play and competition of local or national leagues, as well as the international status of teams.

The Brazilian national league has climbed into second place after finishing 2012 with 1,057 points, according to the IFFHS´ ranking, which is primarily due to Corinthians´ success in the Club World Cup.

An IFFHS spokesman said: "The Brazilian, German, Italian and English leagues are at the same level, but the Brazilian division takes second place due to Corinthians´ participation in the World Club Cup. Without these 34 points, the German and Italian championships would be in front of the Brasileiro."

The Brazilian league, which is ranked the best in South America, continues to grow in strength and stature as an increasing number of top level players are either staying in the country or returning earlier in their careers than previous generations, such as Alexandre Pato who recently left AC Milan for Corinthians.

Santos star Neymar has confirmed he will be remaining at Santos until the 2014 World Cup, while São Paulo’s Luís Fabiano rejected lucrative offers from Champions League sides in favour of Brazil.

Fluminense´s Deco would welcome Juan Román Riquelme arrival

Fluminense star Deco has revealed he would welcome the arrival of former Boca Juniors midfielder Juan Román Riquelme.

The ex-Argentine international has been linked to a number of clubs in Brazil after his decision not to return to Boca, despite turning up for the first day of pre-season training.

Palmeiras, who were relegated from the Brasileirão last season, are thought to be leading the way to sign the former Barcelona man, however, Fluminense are also rumoured to be interested.

Deco said: "I do not know if he will be recruited, it is the directors who manage that part but if this is the case, he will be welcome here."

The 35-year-old, who helped Fluminense claim the Série A title last season, also stated that he would not be worried by potential competition in midfield from Riquelme.

He added: "I do not see any problem. Players adapt easily to quality players."

Deco also spoke of his desire to win this year´s Copa Libertadores, in which the league champions have drawn against Chile´s Huachipato, Venezuela´s Caracas and the winner of the tie between fellow Brazilians Grêmio and Ecuador´s LDU Quito.

"The Libertadores is a dream, not only of the fans but also the players," he concluded.

"I have never won this competition and I´m preparing for that. But football is not an exact science, it´s not just train and win. There are other teams that are also prepared and want to win as much as us."
