Cámpora: "Ganarle a Independiente"

BUENOS AIRES -- El delantero de Racing Club, Javier Cámpora, señaló esta tarde que la gente les pide que superen a Independiente el jueves en el clásico de Avellaneda, por lo cual el atacante afirmó que "ojalá podamos ganarle".

"Siempre es un clásico y la gente nos lo hace notar en la calle, que quiere que ganemos. Nuestro objetivo es ir sumando minutos y mejorar. Ojalá podamos ganarlo", indicó Campora tras la práctica vespertina de Racing, desarrollada en el predio Tita Mattiussi.

Racing Club e Independiente protagonizarán el jueves el primer clásico de Avellaneda del año, cuando se midan desde las 22.10 en el estadio José María Minella, en Mar del Plata.

Cámpora evaluó las chances que tiene de ser titular en el Torneo Final y aseveró que "Racing tiene delanteros de mucha calidad y que vienen haciendo las cosas bien. Eso motiva a uno para tratar de ganarse un lugar y sumar desde donde nos toque. Ojalá que el semestre que viene pueda tener un lugar".

Por otra parte, el plantel de Racing se entrenó esta tarde en el predio Tita Mattiussi, en Avellaneda, donde los jugadores tras una entrada en calor, trotaron alrededor del campo de juego, para luego jugar un `loco`.

Posteriormente, jugaron un partido de fútbol de cinco contra cinco, para terminaron con otro cotejo en espacios reducidos, pero en esta ocasión con ocho jugadores por bando.

Este miércoles el plantel se entrenará desde las 17 en el estadio, a puertas cerradas y sin atención a la prensa; mientras que por la noche viajarán en avión rumbo a Mar del Plata, para jugar allí el jueves ante Independiente.

BUENOS AIRES -- El delantero de River Plate, David Trezeguet, confirmó esta noche que no jugará el Superclásico del sábado en Mar del Plata ante Boca Juniors porque se enfocará a llegar de la mejor forma física al arranque del Torneo Final 2013.

"No voy a estar presente el sábado ante Boca para llegar bien a febrero. Me enfoco en el objetivo, que es el arranque del torneo", informó el atacante en conferencia de prensa desde la concentración "Millonaria".

Y continuó: "Sabemos lo que representa el clásico para el jugador, para el club y su gente, por lo que intentaremos hacer lo mejor que se pueda. Los que estén el sábado presentes intentarán mostrar su mejor imagen".

En cuanto a su puesta a punto, Trezeguet comentó: "Es un trabajo básico el que estoy haciendo, y el hecho de poder estar con mis compañeros es una satisfacción importante para mí. Era mi ilusión estar acá, porque cuando terminé el torneo pasado las expectativas no eran las mejores y es por eso que arranqué un trabajo específico de recuperación de la rodilla y el tobillo".

"Ahora entreno a la par de mis compañeros y si bien aún sigo con algunos trabajos, por suerte no tengo ningún tipo de dolor", agregó el ex delantero del seleccionado francés.

Trezeguet dijo que Ramón Díaz le pidió que entrene en la parte física para llegar de la mejor manera a la primera fecha del campeonato contra Belgrano de Córdoba. "Nunca tuve la seguridad de titular, ni con Almeyda ni con Ramón Díaz, sino que lo tengo que demostrar dentro de la cancha y entrenándome al máximo. No hay que quemar las etapas y hay que seguir trabajando de la manera más profesional que se pueda. Tengo que agradecer al cuerpo médico por el trabajo extraordinario que ha realizado", explicó el atacante.

TANDIL -- El entrenador de River Plate, Ramón Díaz, ya tiene en mente el Superclásico del sábado ante Boca Juniors y apostará a sus habituales titulares y a una línea de tres defensores en el fondo, según se desprendió de la práctica que el plantel realizó hoy en la cancha de Ferrocarril Sud.

Si bien no fue un ensayo formal de fútbol, el entrenamiento vespertino contó con una práctica en espacios reducidos y del cual se vio el probable dibujo táctico para el equipo titular para el choque del sábado, con un 3-4-1-2.

De esta manera, el riojano pondría en cancha a Marcelo Barovero; Gabriel Mercado, Adalberto Román, Jonathan Bottinelli; Carlos Sánchez, Cristian Ledesma, Leonardo Ponzio, Leonel Vangioni; Mauro Díaz; Rodrigo Mora y David Trezeguet.

En el turno vespertino, Ramón Diaz diagramó tareas tácticas, con la particularidad que Vangioni funcionó como lateral-volante por la izquierda.

Mientras que el uruguayo Mora se movió fuera del terreno, por una sobrecarga muscular.

Liédson given permission to seek Flamengo exit

The latest player to join the queue at the Flamengo exit door is striker Liédson, who has been given permission by the club to seek a new home.

Liédson, 35, is among the club´s higher earners with a wage of approximately €70,000 per month and with the arrival of a new president, is seen as dispensable.

The former Sporting Lisbon striker only arrived at the club from Corinthians in August 2012, but has other options in Brazil according to agent Bruno Paiva.

"There are negotiations. We are waiting to see how they evolve," Paiva told Lancenet. "If it´s good for Liédson and Flamengo, a transfer will be made. Otherwise, he will see out his contract."

Since the arrival of new president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, Flamengo have already seen the exit of Vagner Love, returning to CSKA Moscow and Welinton, who will join Alania Vladikavkaz on loan.

U.S.’s first home hexagonal WCQ vs. Costa Rica in Commerce City March 22

U.S. Soccer announced on Tuesday that Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (wtf?) in Commerce City, Colo. will host the United States’ first home match of World Cup qualifying hexagonal against Costa Rica on March 22 at 10 p.m. ET.

“We are really excited to play our first home qualifying match at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park,” U.S. coach Juergen Klinsmann said in a statement. “Winning games at home in World Cup Qualifying is crucial, and we really are expecting the fans in Colorado to bring us a huge home-field advantage.”

The match will be broadcast live on ESPN, WatchESPN and on the Univision family of networks. It is the second major U.S. Soccer match at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in recent months, as the stadium hosted a standing-room only crowd of 18,589 for the U.S. Women’s National Team’s 6-2 friendly win over Australia on Sept. 19.

The match against Costa Rica just outside the “Mile High” city comes as part of a double-fixture date. Four days later, the U.S. travels to face regional rival Mexico at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. This will be the first meeting between the teams since the USA’s 1-0 win in that stadium last summer.

This is the second World Cup Qualifier hosted at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. In 2008, the U.S. gave six players their first cap in qualifying while cruising to a 2-0 win against Guatemala to secure the top spot in its group in the Semifinal Round.

The U.S. opens the final round against Honduras in San Pedro Sula on Feb. 6.

Sudamericano Sub 20: Chile 3-2 Paraguay

A second string Chilean side made it four wins out of four in the Sudamericano Sub 20 tournament after a last minute goal saw them defeat Paraguay 3-2. The win created history as they became the first Chilean team of any age to win four consecutive games in a South American tournament.

Having already qualified for the next stage of the tournament Mario Salas decided to rest a number of key players including captain Igor Lichnovksy, Diego Rubio, Bryan Rabello and Nicolás Castillo. Therefore it was no surprise that Paraguay took advantage of some unsure Chilean defence in the 9th minute with Derlis González opening the scoring for la albiroja.

After the goal the Paraguayans had a number of chances to go further ahead but either goalkeeper Bryan Cortes or the post denied them. Soccer-Match-fixing gangs target 50 national leagues - FIFA

ZURICH, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Organised criminal gangs are targeting around 50 national soccer leagues for possible match-fixing and any country is vulnerable regardless of its record on corruption, according to FIFA head of security Ralf Mutschke.

Mutschke said a convicted match-fixer had personally told him at a secret meeting that the activity was preferred by many criminals to the drugs trade.

"I met a match-fixer, a convicted match-fixer, here in Zurich next to the zoo and he told me organised crime is moving out of the drug trade and getting involved in match-fixing because of low risk and high profit," he said.

"He told me straight to my face," added Mutschke who worked for the German federal police for 33 years before joining FIFA in 2012.

"I would say there are about 50 different national leagues outside Europe which are targeted by organised crime on the betting market," he told reporters at FIFA headquarters.

Match-fixing has become a huge concern for soccer´s authorities recently as criminal gambling rings pay players, referees or officials to manipulate matches and make enormous amounts of money by betting on the outcome.

Mutschke said that in some cases national leagues and confederations had been infiltrated to the point where referees were able to boost their careers by taking part in manipulation.

"We have seen them trying to take over an entire club and use it for match manipulation, we see it in other parts of the world," he said.

"If they manage to take over the club, they pay the salaries for the players but they are also transferring players to other clubs.

"We also see infiltration on an association level and on a confederation level.

"I know as well that referees are being lured by fixers who promise them a boost in their career when they get involved in match manipulation, because this fixer has good contacts in the federation."

Mutschke pointed out that all countries were vulnerable, not just those with a reputation for corruption. One of the most notorious cases, which led to a two-year prison sentence for Singaporean national Wilson Raj Perumal for masterminding a match-fixing scheme, was in Finland.

"There is always the question about which is the most vulnerable region in the world," said Mutschke.

"My answer is there is none. Perumal went to Finland and manipulated matches there and tried to infiltrate a club there. Finland is rated as number two on the transparency index, so it´s not corrupt at all."

PLAYERS TUNNEL

Mutschke said match-fixers would sometimes approach players, referees or officials out of the blue.

"You have a 50 percent chance of acceptance and what upsets me is that it demonstrates to me that they have no fear of us because nobody is reporting these approaches," he said.

On other occasions, they groom their victims over time.

"You follow the target over a certain time period, you assess his attitude, whether he is satisfied, happy, is he paid, or lacking payment from the club, or is he betting."

Sometimes, they even managed to get access to the players tunnel.

"The fixers are in the stadiums and are looking at the targets and sometimes they get access to the tunnel which is strange," he said.

Another tactic by match-fixers is to organise international friendlies and change the referee at the last minute.

"If you don´t have pictures from the match, it is difficult to find out if this really was the referee who supposedly controlled the match."

On one occasion, FIFA only discovered the change because the listed referee was black and they saw on Youtube that a white official was in charge of the game.

Mutschke said FIFA had set up a hotline for players and referees to report approaches and he wanted each of FIFA´s 209 member associations to appoint integrity officers to collaborate.

"I try to impress our members and involve them in the future in the fight against corruption. We have 209 members and several confederations and this is really a challenge. I might fail but at least I´d like to say I tried."

GUATEMALAN EXAMPLE

"My goal is that the entire football community has to be strengthened in the fight against corruption and match manipulation."

Mutschke said there had been some good news.

"Last autumn, three referees were approached by a fixer on their way to a stadium (and asked) to fix a match. They reported it to FIFA. We could identify the guy, he is part of a football federation, he is under investigation and he will be kicked out," said Mutschke.

He did not believe that any matches in the qualifying competition for the 2014 World Cup had been affected because of the prestige at stake and high profile of the games.

He also praised the Guatemalan squad who recently denounced three team mates for trying to persuade them to fix a friendly. The three were banned for life last year.

"Guatemala is a good example for me, they were really eager to do something. We appreciated it very much," he said.

However, Mutschke admitted that FIFA could not provide protection for witnesses and that sanctions for players were often tougher than for the fixers.

"There are legal loopholes, I know that most of the sentences of one or two years, or sometimes just a fine. Can you threaten and organised criminal with a fine?"

"I feel it is unfair as well. The players lose their profession immediately and the fixer is paying a fine. This is a strange situation. We have certain rules for good reasons, but sometimes those rules are against us." Shakhtar Donetsk willing to part with Chelsea and Tottenham target Willian for £20million

Shakhtar Donetsk have revealed they will be willing to sell star forward Willian to Chelsea or Tottenham during the January transfer window if they meet the £20million price tag they have placed on the Brazilian.

Willian, 24, has been one of the stars of the Shakhtar side that have made it through to the last 16 of the Champions League, knocking Chelsea out in the process, but has made it clear that he sees his future away from the Ukraine and angered his club by failing to report on time to their winter training camp.

The London Evening Standard are now reporting that Shakhtar coach Mircea Lucescu is willing to part with the forward having signed former Chelsea target Taison last week, but the Ukrainian’s are not likely to budge on their £20million valuation of the player.

Earlier this week Lucescu hit out at the Brazilian for his behaviour in returning late to Shakhtar, saying that it was unprofessional.

“It is not very nice to say that Willian did not return from holiday on time and thus he is exerting a certain pressure on the club,” said Lucescu.

“I think it was unprofessional of him.The president decided to do everything possible to sign a player of Willian’s level, who already has experience of playing at a high standard. We look forward to having Willian again and I would like him to come back and behave as he did before – as a professional and decent man."

Chelsea and Tottenham have been watching the forward for a long time and may now make the move to sign the player to give them a push towards catching Premier League leaders Manchester United.

Atlético Mineiro are waiting to hear back from Wolfsburg midfielder Josué over a possible move to last year’s Brasileirão runners up.

Josué, 33, is keen to return to Brazil with Atlético but has to talk to the Wolfsburg board to see if the German club will be willing to release him in January, six months before his contract is due to end.

“Josué talked to coach Wolfsburg and he said that they intend to count on him until the end of his contract,” the player’s agent Omar Vasconcelos told Lancenet!

“We do not have a conclusion, unfortunately. However, I hope this is settled as soon as possible. We will not take the answer to Eduardo Maluf (Atlético director of football) and Cuca, two people who really believe in him until we know.

“He will talk to the executive director of the club on Wednesday and then we should know if they want financial compensation for releasing him.

“Josué already warned me that he wants to play at Atlético. But you can not force this situation, because he is an idol of the fans. It would be unfair. So, if not possible, we have to explain to Atlético to define whether they want to pay a transfer fee.”

Josué moved to Wolfsburg from São Paulo in 2007 and helped them to win their first ever Bundesliga title in 2009.

Santos coach Muricy Ramalho believes his team will be less reliant on Neymar this season

Santos coach Muricy Ramalho believes his team’s new signings mean they will be less reliant on Neymar this season.

Neymar, 20, is the hottest young talent in world football and a key part of Ramalho’s Santos team that have won the three consecutive Paulista championships, as well as the 2011 Copa Libertadores.

However, the forward is also a key member of the Brazil national side and his importance to the Seleção meant that he only managed to play in 17 Brasileirão games last season.

Ramalho believes that the signings of Walter Montillo, Neto, Guilherme Santos, Renê Júnior and Cícero will give the squad more depth so they don’t have to rely on the presence of Neymar.

“We are prepared, last year we had difficulties in the whole squad, lost a lot of players, some at the level of the Seleção, which you can not easily replace,” Ramalho told Lancenet!

“With Neymar we also suffered. Now, it´s a strong team with or without him. We are seeking balance. I do not like to depend too much of a player, it is very annoying when they are not available.

“We have a squad to play well until the end of the year, that makes a difference. We are seeking the positions we need, we should be similar last year. This team will give more results, have more technical quality.”

Santos begin their season away to São Bernardo this Saturday.
