Wolfsburg´s Diego admits he hopes to return to Santos

Wolfsburg´s Diego has admitted that a return to Brazil, and former club Santos, is a distinct possiblilty at the end of his career.

When asked if returning to Brazil was an option at the end of his career, Diego said: "That is a possibility, but this is not certain. It sure would be great again aground for Santos, I still have many friends there.

"But I must then weigh up everything - the location of the club, my situation, my goals. Whether this will eventually happen again, I can not say yet."

Diego was also wary of the competition for places in the Seleção at the World Cup: "I’m sure that Brazil could make three teams, all three would play in a World Cup in a good role.

"The country is so big, with so many great players. And people breathe football there."

The midfielder also believes that Brazil is becoming a power in club football: "A good league is the basis for everything. In terms of organization, we can learn a lot from Europe, but also because there was great progress in recent years.

"Now we get new stadiums, the conditions suitable for the fans and the players are much better."

Josue set for Wolfsburg exit


Wolfsburg midfielder Josue is set to leave the Bundesliga outfit after being told he will not be offered a new contract according to reports in Germany.

Josue, 33, who captained the club to their Bundesliga victory in 2009, is under contract until the end of the season and is hoping to extend his stay at the club.

But the Brazil international has yet to be offered a new deal and Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung are reporting that Wolfsburg will not be making an offer to the player.

“What we do now, should have an effect on our future,” Wolfsburg general manager Klaus Allofs was quoted as saying.

Josue’s agent, Omar Vasconcelos, also said: “Josue would love to stay in Germany. If, however, the club does not want to offer a new contract, we will ask for an immediate release.”

Reports in Brazil say that Atlético Mineiro are interested in signing the player and have already made an offer.

Palmeiras officials in Buenos Aires for talks with Riquelme


Palmeiras officials are in Buenos Aires to negotiate the transfer of Boca Juniors star Juan Roman Riquelme according to reports in Brazil.

Terra claims that Palmeiras president, Arnaldo Tirone, is in the capital to negotiate a contract with the player.

The publication also cites Ole! who claim that the wages offered to Riquelme would be around £22,500 a week.

Terra disagrees with the figure and claims a higher value at around £32,500 a week although they both agree that a three and a half year contract is on the table.

According to these reports, Tirone is willing to do ´anything´ to land Riquelme at Palmeiras in light of the upcoming presidential elections starting in São Paulo on Monday.

Riquelme has had a long history with Boca, starting out there as a youngster before moving to Europe with Barcelona and later Villareal before returning to the club in 2007.

The playmaker made 346 appearances for Boca, scoring 83 goals.

Fluminense deny Kaká interest


Fluminense have denied reports that the club are in talks with Real Madrid´s Kaká over a possible move back to his native Brazil.

Reports in Spain on Thursday claimed that Fluminense were looking to add the playmaker to their collection of stars with Deco, Fred and possibly Juan Roman Riquelme on his way.

But UoL claims to have spoken to Fluminense officials who have denied the story coming out of Spain and says the club has no interest in the player.

Meanwhile, Kaká is currently in Milan for talks with AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani over a possible loan deal between the two clubs.

Kaká, who was having a meal with fellow native Robinho in Italy, told reporters that he would also be willing to take a pay-cut in order to complete a San Siro return.

Galliani had previously insisted that the midfielder´s wages, which are reported to be around €13million a season, are too high for the Rossoneri.

However, reports suggest that Milan President Silvio Berlusconi has now spoken directly to Real counterpart Florentino Perez about the player and that a deal could be concluded.

Paredes: "Sueño hacerle gol a River"


TANDIL -- El juvenil mediocampista de Boca Juniors Leandro Paredes señaló el jueves que "sería un sueño hacerle un gol" a River Plate, en relación con el encuentro amistoso que se jugará el sábado en Mar del Plata, y que marcará su primer superclásico en primera división.

"Es un partido especial, soy hincha de Boca, se viven de otra forma, por eso sería un sueño hacerle un gol a River en mi primer superclásico", indicó el mediocampista que jugará con la casaca número 10, que utilizaba su ídolo Juan Román Riquelme.

"En las divisiones inferiores siempre me fue muy bien jugando contra River y como hincha no me voy a olvidar jamás del partido que ganamos por penales por la Copa Libertadores del 2004, en el Monumental y sin público visitante", indicó Paredes.

Sobre la posibilidad de debutar como titular, comentó: "No quiero perderla, tengo que ganarme el puesto, aunque estos partidos no dejan de ser amistosos y nuestro objetivo es empezar con todo ante Quilmes por el torneo Final y pelear con todo la Libertadores".

"Me siento cómodo jugando como enganche, contento de poder mostrarme y con la responsabilidad asumida de jugar en Boca", continuó el mediocampista que será el encargado de manejar las pelotas paradas en el equipo junto a Walter Erviti.

Por otro lado, en el mismo sentido, el delantero Lautaro Acosta opinó: "Es un partido que todos quieren jugar, voy a tratar de aprovechar mi velocidad para desbordar y asistir pero también quiero amigarme con el gol, tuve continuidad en el último mes, jugué 8 partidos seguidos, y ahora vuelvo a ser titular".

LA PRÁCTICA VESPERTINA


El plantel se entrenó por la tarde del jueves en el Banco Provincia donde el DT Carlos Bianchi dispuso un partido de fútbol informal con 14 jugadores de cada lado, mientras los arqueros Agustín Orion, Oscar Ustari, Sebastián Dangelo y Manuel Vicentini practicaron aparte junto al preparador Rubén Omar Sánchez.

De no mediar inconvenientes, el equipo formará ante River con: Agustín Orión; Franco Sosa, Matías Caruzzo, Guillermo Burdisso y Clemente Rodríguez; Pablo Ledesma, Leandro Somoza y Walter Erviti; Leandro Paredes; Lautaro Acosta y Santiago Silva.

Mientras que los suplentes serán Oscar Ustari, Christian Cellay, Emiliano Albín, Cristian Erbes, Cristian Chávez, Lucas Vaitri y Nicolás Blandi.

Por otro lado, Juan Manuel Martínez aún no firmó su contrato con el club porque faltan algunos detalles por arreglar con Corinthians de Brasil, club dueño del pase del jugador, pero lo hará la semana que viene y será presentado junto al uruguayo Ribair Rodríguez, otro de los refuerzos del equipo.

Además, surgió el interés del Españyol de Barcelona por Nicolás Blandi que no será una de las prioridades de Carlos Bianchi para el futuro, mientras que la dirigencia del club desechó cualquier negociación del Pescara de Italia por Leandro Zomoza, quien tiene contrato hasta junio.

El plantel se entrenará el viernes en doble turno, viajará a Mar del Plata el sábado para jugar ante River, volverá a Buenos Aires una vez que culmine el encuentro y retomará la pretemporada el lunes a las 17 en el Predio Pedro Pompillio.

Pabón: "Sólo pienso en el Parma"

BUENOS AIRES -- El delantero colombiano Dorlan Pabón afirmó en la noche del jueves que no tiene pensado volver a Sudamérica y que pretende quedarse en Europa, echando por tierra los intereses de Independiente para contratarlo.

"No tengo pensado volver a Sudamérica. Me quiero quedar en Europa", aseguró el atacante en declaraciones con distintos medios.

Durante la jornada, habían crecido los rumores que Pabón tenía todo acordado con Independiente, e incluso apareció en una supuesta cuenta del jugador de Facebook que solo faltaba la firma para ser presentado en la institución de Avellaneda.

"Espero volver a Sudamérica en 5, 6, 7 años", dijo el delantero del Parma en charla radial.

"Yo me quiero quedar en Europa. Lo que dicen que mañana viajo a Argentina y que estoy cerca de firmar son mentiras", aclaró.

"Hablé con Tula y Vargas", sí confirmó el colombiano, aunque nunca habló de su cercanía a Independiente.

Y se desentendió de la disputa de otro club de Avellaneda por su pase. "De Racing nadie se comunicó conmigo".

"Por el momento sólo estoy pensando en Parma", concluyó para despejar cualquier duda.

No obstante, el presidente de Independiente, Javier Cantero, reiteró que las negociaciones por el delantero están avanzadas, aunque no cerradas. El titular rojo se sorprendió por las declaraciones del jugador, aunque aclaró que el acuerdo, hasta ahora, era con Parma, y faltaba la decisión de Pabón.

LA PLATA -- Juan Sebastián Verón aseguró el jueves que el fútbol argentino "está fuera del sistema" por el atraso formativo que se evidenció con la reciente eliminación en la primera ronda del Sudamericano sub 20 de Mendoza y San Juan.

Sin individualizar responsables, el ex capitán de Estudiantes de La Plata advirtió como nocivo el "amiguismo" para la organización del fútbol y llamó a "marcar una diferencia con el trabajo" para no caer en la "confusión".

Además, pidió que se "capacite a los entrenadores y preparadores físicos" como parte de un plan integral, tal como sucede en "Italia, España, Inglaterra o Alemania, que tienen un fútbol muy competitivo".

"No basta con el talento para el biotipo y estilo de jugador que se necesita hoy. El apoyo y la formación tienen que ser una constante. Eso de jugar a diez tipos porque juegan bien, no existe más", analizó.

En ese sentido, la Brujita, de 37 años, señaló que Argentina "está parada en el mismo lugar desde hace mucho tiempo, mientras la realidad marca que el fútbol general camina hacia adelante".

"Dejamos pasar por alto estas situaciones y hoy cuando recibís un cachetazo como éste te preguntas: ¿que está pasando?", interpeló en diálogo con el programa "Rock & Closs".

"La reflexión tiene que ser mucho más amplia. Quedamos fuera del sistema", lamentó.

Former Vasco da Gama midfielder Felipe set to sign for Fluminense

The former Vasco da Gama midfielder Felipe is set to sign for cross city rivals Fluminense after leaving Vasco at the end of last season.

Felipe, 35, left the Rio de Janeiro giants in December at the end of his contract after falling out with the club’s board over comments he made about the late payment of wages.

His comments were not appreciated by the club’s president Roberto Dinamite and, as one of the club’s top earners, it was decided to not offer the veteran a new deal.

The move has yet to be finalised but it was all but confirmed by Atlético Paranaense director of football Antônio Lopes who had also shown an interest in signing the player.

“I wish I could bring him to Atlético-PR,” he told Fox Sports.

“He is one of the best midfielders in Brazilian football and Fluminense did well. I wanted to bring him to Atlético, and tried, but he was already in agreement with Fluminense.”

This will be Felipe’s second spell at the Brasileirão champions after spending one season with the club in 2005 after leaving Flamengo.

Flamengo defender Wallace believes his new club are bigger than Corinthians

New Flamengo defender Wallace has taken a swipe at his former team Corinthians by saying he was moving to a bigger club.

Wallace, 25, completed his move on Friday from the current Copa Libertadores and Club World Cup winners to Flamengo and said he was delighted to join the Rio de Janeiro giants.

“I am extremely happy, to leave a huge team like Corinthians and come to a much bigger,” he told reporters.

“They are the two biggest teams in Brazil. Being able to play for both is something indescribable. I’m happy, motivated, cheerful and willing to help Dorival in all forms.”

Wallace played 21 times for Corinthians last season in the Brasileirão but would have found playing time harder this season after the Timão signed Gil from Valenciennes and are still in the hunt for Vasco’s highly rated centre-back Dedé.

But the defender, who played for Vitória before moving to Corinthians in 2011, is aware of the pressures that come with playing for his new club.

“Playing at Flamengo is entering a cauldron with pressure from all sides, the press and fans.

“It has always been like this, I am aware, I came knowing the responsibility. It can never settle to be second, the team comes has to be first, I was aware of it. I´m hopeful that things happen, and the team unleash. This year will be victorious for me and Flamengo.”
