Tillykke til Peru. Jeg håber, de her talenter ser indad og håber at de kommer tilbage. Det var synd at Ney Franco ikke vedholdte sin rolle i Brazil u20, fordi det der Brasilien hold så helt galt ud.

lige præcis, det var et f de dårligst organiserede u-landshold jeg har set....backerne er ikke gode nok , midtbane var ikke kvalitetmæssigt af en standard, vi bør forvente af brasilien ....og angrebet , manglede kvalitet i den grad.....

Guatemala, Nicaragua draw in Copa opener


SAN JOSE, Costa Rica -- Guatemala and Nicaragua opened the 2013 UNCAF Copa Centroamericana with a Group A dual that ended in a 1-1 stalemate Friday at the Estadio Nacional.

After some initial bright moments from the Chapines in the early going, Nicaragua settled in and played attractive football.

The first best chance for Nicaragua came in the 35th minute, when veteran attacker Samuel Wilson pounded a free kick towards goal from 30 yards. Guatemalan goalkeeper Cristian Alvarez, though, was up to the challenge, supplying a diving save.

Five minutes later, Nicaragua broke through on another set piece. Manuel Rosas whipped in a ball from the left that Alvarez could only parry away in front of goal. Defender Josue Quijano was first to the spot, and after bouncing an initial shot off Alvarez, he deposited the rebound for the 1-0 lead that lasted into the break.

Guatemalan coach Hugo Almeida, who had already brought on Juan Jose Valenzuela midway through the first half, made his final two changes at the half, bringing on Minor Lopez and Sergio Trujillo.

The rhythm slowed down considerably in second stanza, with the Pinoleros attempting to defend their lead. Sustained pressure from the Guatemalans, however, finally paid off in the 66th minute.

Left back David Espinoza collected a loose ball on the left side of the box and sliced a cross through the middle of the area. Defender Marlon Medina slid in an attempt to clear, but directed the ball into his own goal.

Both teams pushed hard for a winner, but despite a wide open finish, neither could find a second goal.

After six wins and a loss, the draw was Guatemala´s first against Nicaragua in eight all-time Copa Centroamericana games.

Guatemala now takes on Belize on Sunday, while Nicaragua faces host Costa Rica.

Burgos gives El Salvador tie with Honduras


SAN JOSE, Costa Rica -- Honduras and El Salvador played to a hotly contested 1-1 draw on a frigid Friday evening at the Estadio Nacional.

Both teams took some time to get into the flow of things in their first Group B action at the 2013 UNCAF Copa Centroamericana.

El Salvador was closest to opening the scoring in the late going of the first half, when captain Rafael Burgos got behind the defending champion´s defense on consecutive occasions, only to be thwarted by a pair of sterling stops from goalkeeper Donis Escober.

Honduras head coach Luis Suarez tried to shake things up at the half, replacing forward Georgie Welcome with Roger Rojas.

The plan nearly bore fruit in the 60th minute as Rojas latched onto a rebound from an Oscar Boniek Garcia shot, but Salvadoran goalkeeper Dagoberto Portillo came up with point-blank save.

U.S.-based New England Revolution striker Jerry Bengtson broke the deadlock in the 75th minute, neatly settling a Rojas cross and tucking a shot into the corner of the Salvadoran goal.

The goal livened up the evening and spurred a response from El Salvador, which tied the match just three minutes later. Andres Flores made a streaking run down the right side and delivered a looping cross into the box that Burgos managed to nod past Escober, off the far post, and into the Honduran goal.

Both teams threatened to score a winner, but some good goalkeeping on both sides of the field meant each team will carry a point into its final match against Panama in the three-team group.

The draw was the third between the two rivals in 11 all-time Copa Centroamericana games against each other.

El Salvador plays the Panamanians on Sunday, while Honduras faces the Canaleros champions in the group closer on Tuesday.

Costa Rica tops Belize on Arrieta goal


SAN JOSE, Costa Rica - Costa Rica took the field for the third and last match on Friday at the National Stadium, ending the 2013 UNCAF Copa Centroamericana´s launch day with a challenging 1-0 Group A triumph over a resolute Belize.

The result improved the Ticos´ record in tournament openers to 10 wins and two draws in 12 games, including four victories against Belize.

Before the visiting defense had an opportunity to get its bearings, Costa Rica came close to netting within the first minute. Forward Jairo Arrieta nailed a right-footed shot off the post of Woodrow Wilson´s goal.

As the half wore on and the Ticos continued to apply pressure, Belize looked increasingly dangerous on the counter and created some half chances.

The opening 45 minutes, however, ended without the breakthrough the home crowd had hoped for, but the locals wouldn´t have to wait long to celebrate a goal.

Ten minutes into the second half, after a series of rebounds, Arrieta found the ball at his feet in the box and smashed an unstoppable drive past Wilson into the upper left corner for his first career Copa Centroamericana goal.

The host failed to find the net a second time, instead making its lone strike stand, to take three points and the lead atop Group A after one round of play.

Despite three of its last five Copa Centroamericana outings having been decided by one goal or less, Belize remains winless in 21 all-time tournament games.

Costa Rica will next take the field on Sunday to face Guatemala, while Belize takes on Nicaragua the same day.
