S. Lorenzo extiende licencia a Aguiar

BUENOS AIRES -- Bernardo Romeo, manager de San Lorenzo, confirmó el viernes que el club extendió hasta el jueves próximo la licencia al volante uruguayo Luis Aguiar, quien fue separado del plantel la semana pasada por el entrenador Juan Antonio Pizzi.

Romeo, ex delantero y actual manager del club de Boedo, informó a la prensa que "se extiende la licencia del mediocampista Luis Aguiar hasta el jueves de la semana que viene".

"Estamos negociando. No es un tema fácil y no queremos que se perjudiquen el club ni el jugador", agregó Romeo.

Aguiar fue separado del plantel tras ausentarse dos días de las prácticas y sostener una discusión con el DT, quien no estaba al tanto de que el padre del jugador tenía un problema de salud en Uruguay, donde vive.

Sobre esa desavenencia entre el jugador y el técnico, Romeo afirmó que "son conflictos que pasan en el fútbol, ya sucedieron varias veces y esta no es la primera vez".

"Luis es un jugador de San Lorenzo y estamos tratando de culminar la desvinculación de la manera más pacífica posible", explicó el manager, quien agregó que "es una posibilidad que el jugador venga a entrenar" después de la licencia.

Arsenal loanee Denílson set to leave São Paulo - report

São Paulo will not make the loan deal of Arsenal midfielder Denílson permanent and the player will return to Arsenal in July, according to reports.

Denílson started his career at São Paulo, was Brazil´s Under 20 captain and was soon transferred to Arsenal.

He failed to live up to the expectations and was loaned back to São Paulo where he has been spending his last two years.

The midfielder is having an unimpressive 2013 season and argued with a fan on twitter over his performances, São Paulo´s president Juvenal Juvêncio believes Denílson would not be worth the investment needed to keep him permanently at the club.

São Paulo would have to invest around 3 million Euros to keep him, which is deemed unnecessary as there are other midfielders of similar quality in the squad such as Fabrício, while Casemiro is also expected to return from Real Madrid Castilla in July.

The Arsenal loanee is also threatened by young midfielder Wellington, who fights for the same place in São Paulo´s first team.

Denílson wants to stay at the club and will need to use the next three months to convince São Paulo´s board that he can still be useful for the club.

Palmeiras targeting Benfica striker Alan Kardec

Palmeiras are targeting former Vasco striker Alan Kardec, according to a report from Portuguese paper A Bola.

The striker is currently playing for Benfica´s B team and is willing to return to Brazil, he had a spell at Santos between 2011 and 2012.

Executive director José Carlos Brunoro has confirmed that Palmeiras are indeed trageting Alan Kardec, he told press: "he is an interesting player and he is indeed in our plans. But haven´t started any negotiations yet. I haven´t spoken with [clubs president] Paulo Nobre about this".

Paulo Nobre has confirmed that he was in Portugal, he said: "it was a diplomatic visit, I had the chance to meet Benfica´s president Luís Filipe Vieira. I believe that in the future Palmeiras players might interest Benfica and Benfica players might interest Palmeiras."

He added: "Alan Kardec is indeed a very interesting player and we obviously talked about him but there is nothing concrete yet".

The president of Palmeiras completed: "Palmeiras are in a difficult financial situation, and I don´t know if we can sign a player like Alan Kardec, especially since I´m not aware of his wage demands. Anyway. we can talk with Benfica about him in the future, ast here is an open line between us".

Pelé´s son Joshua rejects comparisons with his father

Pelé´s son Joshua Nascimento has rejected comparisons with his father, emphasizing the fact he even avoids wearing his father´s famous ´10´ shirt.

Joshua has recently joined Santos under 17 team, and is expected to make his debut in April, but comparisons with his famous father have been inevitable.

He told Brazilian TV channel Sportv the following: "As I am a striker, I prefer to wear 9 or 11, maybe one day I´ll wear 10, that will be big, especially in football. It will increase the responsibility. I´ll have to handle it the best possible way, the comparisons will happen, but I have to block them".

Joshua added that his father has been advising him, he said: "He talks, not much, but he did ask me to stay calm as I´m just starting my career. Pelé was Pelé and I am me. Of course I´ll not start playing since the beginning, I need to keep developing".

Pelé´s son also denied any contact with Neymar, he said: "I don´t talk with him, but he is certainly the idol of many kids. He is one of my favorite players, everyone likes to watch him. I always go to [Santos´ stadium] Vila Belmiro when there is a game. You know he will always do something important".

Joshua is Pelé´s second son to play as a footballer, as Edinho played in the 1990s as a goalkeeper.

Léo Baptistão denies contact with Atlético Madrid

Rayo Vallecano´s Brazilian player Léo Baptistão denied any contact with Atlético Madrid, despite Spanish press´ claims that he will join the Colchoneros for 6 million Euros.

The young Brazilian player told Globo Esporte: "There were many rumors about that, but as I have always said, I only know there is interest. There was no contact. At the moment I think onlyabout Rayo Vallecano, finish this great season we are having. We´llsee what will happen in the future".

He added that he could stay another year at Rayo: "It wouldn´t be any problem to stay another year here at Rayo, whichhas been my home since I came. But nobody knows the future. I´ll let it happen and focus on the games. The rest is dealt with by the clubs and my agents".

His talent has also been noticed by the Spanish national team staff, Léo Baptistão has already affirmed that he would be willing to play for the current world champions.

Léo Baptistão has however dismissed comparisons with Falcao, he said: "Of course I´m not as good as Falcao, but if I had to take his place,I would work hard to be at least half as good as the great player he is".

Police use tear gas after fans clash at World Cup venue

Police in Brazil had to use pepper spray and tear gas after fans began to clash while buying tickets for the inaugural match at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador.

Most of the 40,000 tickets for the match between local rivals Bahia and Vitoria had already been sold online, while many supporters queued overnight at a ticket office in the north-eastern state of Bahia.

However, fighting broke out as organisers started running out of tickets on Friday and some fans attempted to break into the stadium, which cost around £217 million to build for next year’s World Cup.

Witnesses said there were no barriers to separate ticket queues at the ground, which added to the atmosphere of chaos and tension.

Authorities say six people sustained minor injuries but no arrests were made, while the stadium owner vowed to sort out problems that became clear during the disturbances.

Earlier on Friday, a worker died after a fall at the construction site of the Arena da Amazonia, in Manaus, which will also be used in the 2014 tournament.

"Pellegrino o Sava son el Plan B"

BUENOS AIRES -- El manager de Racing Club, Roberto Ayala, precisó este viernes que en caso de que a Luis Zubeldía no se le renueve el contrato los candidatos para sucederlo serán Mauricio Pellegrino y Facundo Sava.

"No sé quién ha instalado el nombre de (Julio) Falcioni para Racing. Si no es Zubeldía, ya tengo dos Plan B. Uno es Pellegrino. Sava también es un técnico que me gusta. Es el otro nombre", aclaró el ex defensor del seleccionado argentino de fútbol por Rock and Pop.

Ayala afirmó además que pretende que el arquero Sebastián Saja se retire en Racing de la práctica del fútbol profesional y ve con buenos ojos que el delantero Diego Milito quiera terminar su carrera en "La Academia".

El manager admitió que Racing debería tener algún punto más en el campeonato y argumentó que el "trabajo grueso" en materia de refuerzos se hace en junio, respondiendo así a las críticas que recibió la dirigencia por lo poco que se movió en diciembre último.

Godoy Cruz: apoyo de los hinchas

MENDOZA -- El plantel de Godoy Cruz, con el equipo confirmado y el apoyo de un numeroso grupo de hinchas, realizó hoy la penúltima práctica, de cara al clásico del fútbol cuyano, el domingo desde las 16.10 ante San Martín de San Juan, en el estadio del Bicentenario de la capital sanjuanina.

El entrenador Martín Palermo dispuso que los titulares para enfrentar al equipo sanjuanino sean Nelson Ibáñez; José San Román, Jorge Curbelo, Nicolás Sánchez y Emanuel Insúa; Nicolás Castro, Federico Lértora, Eduardo Ledesma y Gonzalo Castellani; Facundo Castillón y Mauro Obolo.

La delegación estará integrada además por los siguientes jugadores: Sebastián Torrico, Leandro Grimi, Sergio Sánchez, José Luis Fernández, David Ramírez, Ciro Rius, Rodrigo Salinas y Fernando Zuqui.

El plantel ´bodeguero´ practicó en su estadio Feliciano Gambarte, donde los jugadores realizaron diversos ejercicios físicos, jugadas tácticas y tareas de definición.

La nota de la jornada la dio un nutrido grupo de hinchas del ´Tomba´, quienes presenciaron el entrenamiento y dieron claras muestras de apoyo al plantel.

Mucho tuvo que ver en la asistencia de los hinchas "bodegueros" al entrenamiento, el hecho de que no podrán asistir el domingo a San Juan a presenciar el partido, por cuestiones que hacen a la seguridad del encuentro.

Durante la semana, Palermo se encargó de declarar que "sabemos lo que significa para los jugadores e hinchas ganar el clásico cuyano en San Juan", pero lejos de significar una presión extra estas palabras, el clima en el plantel es distendido y de optimismo.

Tal es así que terminada la práctica, los jugadores se prestaron sin inconvenientes a la requisitoria de algunos hinchas, quienes aprovecharon el momento para transmitirles toda su confianza e incluso sacarse algunas fotografías y pedir autógrafos.

Los hinchas podrán seguir el partido ante San Martín a través de una pantalla gigante que estará ubicada en la platea cubierta de su estadio, instalada por la dirigencia del club mendocino con apoyo de la municipalidad de Godoy Cruz.
