Copa Lib today: Porto Alegre waits for Santa Fe

Gremio will welcome to Porto Alegre on Wednesday Colombia´s Santa Fe in the first leg of the round of 16 at the Libertadores. Gremio will be without their coach, Vanderlei Luxemburgo, owing to his six game suspension for a brawl in Chile.

Santa Fe, led by coach Wilson Gutiérrez, arrived in Porto Alegre on Monday fresh off the heels of their victory over the weekend against Envigado that allowed them to take the lead in the Colombian championship.

Santa Fe starts the round without Luis Carlos Arias and John Jairo Valencia, two players that would have figured prominently in the game plan.

Apart from Luxemburgo, Gremio will be without the injured Werley and the suspended Zé Roberto. The good news though is that midfielder Elano returned to training and became an option to partner with attackers Eduardo Vargas from Chile and Argentinian Hernán Barcos.

The match will be played in the Arena Gremio stadium in Porto Alegre at 7:30pm local time (22h30 GMT). The return leg will be played on May 16 in Bogota.

Copa Lib today: Boca welcomes champion Corinthians

This meeting represents a rematch of last year´s final, which the ´Timao´ won. However this time Corinthians come to the round as winners of Group 5 while Boca struggled mightily in Group 1.

Boca, who is doing horribly in their local tournament and are looking at the Copa Lib as a chance to win silverware, were irregular in defense during the group stage and can´t repeat that if they wish to have any chance against Corinthians who boast Paolo Guerrero and Alexander Pato in attack.

Boca will feature star Juan Román Riquelme, although he is still not fully recovered from his injury.

Meanwhile, Corinthians arrived Monday in Buenos Aires confident. Striker Romarinho said he hopes "to score another goal in the Bombonera".

The match will be played at the Bombonera stadium at 9:50pm local time (00H50 GMT). Chilean Enrique Osses will call the game with his compatriots Carlos Astroza and Sergio Román the linesmen.

Så er der Grêmio i aften på min fødselsdag, ønsker mig ikke andet end én komfortabel sejr over Santa Fé. =) God kamp derude. Jeg vil opdatere løbende.
