Jeg var desværre forhindret i at se San-Lorenzo-Boca Juniors, men var selvfølgelig rigtig glad da jeg så at El Ciclon har tæsket Boca Juniors, med 3-0. San Lorenzo er inde i en rigtig god formkurve. Fortsæt den gode stime !

Lidt futebol carioca. Fluminenses U20 hold er tæt på Rio-mesterskabet. "O Tricolor" vandt nemlig den første finalekamp mod Flamengo med 3-0. Miniangriberen Biro Biro blev matchens store spiller. Når man hedder Biro Biro må man være god til at gentage sig selv, så vores ven i front scorede selvfølgelig to mål. Denilson hedder ikke Denilson Denilson, så indskifteren måtte nøjes med en enkelt scoring. De to mandskaber spiller returkamp på lørdag. Her må Flu undvære U17-landsholdsangriberen Kenedy, der så rødt i slutminutterne, mææææææææn mod ikke de tre mål rækker til den samlede triumf.

Migliore is released from jail after 40 days

San Lorenzo goalkeeper, Pablo Migliore has finally been granted bail after paying half a million pesos and making a statement, supposedly to say that he will inform the police if he hears from Boca fugative, Maxi Mazzaro (I’m not sure how much I trust this but thankfully for Migliore I’m not one of the judges). However, after his release what next for the goalkeeper? Despite his own claims that he has a contract at San Lorenzo he intends to honour and the club making a guarded statement along the lines of ‘he will return to training and we will see what happens’ it remains to be seen if he will play again. San Lorenzo have since signed Sebastian Torrico as a replacement and their fans have not welcomed his return. La Doce are also reportedly not too happy with Migliore’s statement but his friend, Martin Palermo may offer an escape route to Godoy Cruz. We will see where Migliore ends up over the coming weeks and if they will ever catch Maxi Mazzaro!

Rafaela and Belgrano kick off weekend with bore draw

This game almost certainly doesn’t warrant a post but as the only game on Friday night it’s getting one. Atletico Rafaela travelled to Cordoba to face Belgrano and both sides managed to produce an almost coma-inducing game. It is difficult to mention anything of any note as chances were few are far between but with the point Rafaela move to fourth in the table and keep in contention for Copa Sudamericana qualification. In other news, Argentina’s record goal scorer, Gabriel Batistuta has expressed a despite to one day coach the national side despite not entering management. Germany and Holland provide two examples of big footballing nations who have made similar appointments with Jurgan Klinsmann and Marco Van Basten but this does not seem like a likely scenario at any stage.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand linked with Flamengo – report

British tabloid newspaper The Sun has revealed that Brazilian giants Flamengo are interested in signing Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, with the England international´s contract set to expire this summer.

Ferdinand has been in excellent form this season and has been a major factor in United wrestling back the Premier League title from their city rivals Manchester City.

But at 34 this is likely to be the former West Ham United and Leeds United defender’s last big contract and it is reported by The Sun that, along with Flamengo, another six clubs from around the world, including in the Middle East, Russia as well as Galatasaray and Monaco, are preparing big offers to tempt the star to their club.

Outgoing boss Sir Alex Ferguson was keen to keep Ferdinand at the club and there is no indication that new manager David Moyes thinks otherwise.

However, it unlikely Ferdinand will make a decision based on money, with the article quoting a close source, who said: "Rio and United always agreed he’d talk about his contract situation once the season ended.

"There are a plenty of clubs out there who want him. He’ll be the best free transfer in English football."

Flamengo to offer Mattheus a new deal if Juventus move falls through

Flamengo will attempt to offer their young forward Mattheus a new deal to stay at the club if his proposed move to Juventus falls through.

The clubs have wanted to keep the young star and vice president, Wallim Vasconcellos, told Lancenet:

“We will wait until Sunday. If we do not have a concrete deal, we will sit down with the player and agents in order to offer him a renewal.”

Mattheus, 19, declined the offer of a new deal with the Brazilian giants last December after setting his sights on a move to Europe and has been in talks with the Italian champions over the past few months.

However, despite everything being agreed between all parties involved, the paperwork is yet to be formalised and this past week the player’s father, former Brazil international Bebeto, issued Antonio Conte’s team an ultimatum – saying the deal would be off if the paperwork was not completed by the end of the week.

It is believed that Juventus are trying to hold out until June when they can sign a pre-contract agreement with the player, therefore foregoing the £2 million transfer fee they have agreed to pay at the moment.

However, Bebeto made it clear in his statement this week that both he and his son have too much respect for Flamengo than to walk out on a free transfer.
