Tijuana qualified on Tuesday to the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores after beating Palmeiras 2-1 at the Pacaembu stadium in Sao Paulo.
Attacker Duvier Riascos opened the scoring in the first half (26) and Arce doubled the lead (2-0) shortly after the break (51).
However Souza pulled one back from the spot for Palmeiras in the 61st minute.
The first-leg match, held May 1 at Caliente stadium in Tijuana, ended in a goalless draw.
Tijuana will play Atlético Mineiro on May 22 in the quarterfinals. Atlético booked their place last week after thrashing Sao Paulo.
Palmeiras, currently in the second division in Brazil and focusing on this tournament, started off the match with a lot of pressure.
Their first chance came in the 24th minute when Ayrton hit the crossbar on his free kick and Marcelo Oliveira put the rebound wide.
Tijuana´s game plan looked to be to kick Palmeiras around the field as they accumulated seven yellow cards with Pablo Aquilar getting two of those and sent off. Palmeiras were shown five yellows.
Palmeiras coach Gilson Kleina shored-up the attack by inserting Maikon Leite and Souza, who scored his first Copa Lib goal from the spot. Aguilar handled the ball in the box which gave Souza his chance to score.
Palmeiras tried to get two more goals which would put them into the next round by constantly attacking but came up short as they ran out of time.
This is the first Copa Libertadores that Tijuana has played in.
