Chelsea doing the usual fighting players at the end of games rather than showing actual fight whilst playing football in matches.
I have zero expectations for Chelsea right now. But what I do have is an expectation for a high press, an intense press, a physical presence, energy, fight, and we have NONE of that. That’s it. Zero quality, zero belief, zero intensity.
No summer signings have sustainably performed, what we have, haven’t performed. We are suffering from years of bad recruitment. It doesn’t matter who the manager is, the issues would have always been simmering. Chelsea right now, aren’t the Chelsea of recent success.
Recent success has relied on a cup run, luck, and miracles. Players like Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas have carried recent success. We don’t have players like that anymore and haven’t for some time.
We might have won honours but we have done this bouncing back from yet another managing sacking. We haven’t been consistently successful and winning honours and winning the odd game well, has masked and papered over the cracks.
Our recruitment has been our biggest negative over recent years. The new owners are fully on top of this now (summer is questionable) and they’re all in sync with knowing what we need. Better times are ahead. But genuinely, it IS a project. Sorry, but it is.
