Chelsea have reportedly secured first preference with Sporting CP over right-back target Ivan Fresneda after failing to sign him this summer.

According to Record via Sport Witness, Chelsea may have secured first preference on Ivan Fresneda and used their good relationship with Sporting CP. The Blues wanted the 18-year-old full-back this summer, but FFP may have prevented a move. They could now have the chance to match or outbid rivals in the future.

Football these days works differently, as clubs often find ways to bring a player even if they miss out in the current market. Ivan Fresneda had been a star on the shortlist of many big clubs. Arsenal, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea were all keen on the right-back at some stage, but he has now joined Sporting CP.

The Portuguese giants beat the major competition for the 18-year-old full-back, and considering how their policy works, the defender could move in a few years for a hefty fee. Sporting CP will not stop in his way if he desires a new challenge in a few seasons.

It means that the Portuguese club will notify the Blues if they plan on selling Fresneda and allow the Premier League giants to match or outbid any offers from other suitors

Reports have claimed that Roma owner Dan Friedkin has flown to London today to try and finalise a deal for Romelu Lukaku.

According to Gazzetta, the club owner wants to close a deal for the striker in the next 24 hours.

Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard is reportedly set to announce his retirement at the age of 32.

Hazard has been without a club since his Real Madrid contract expired at the end of last season.

According to Get Football News France, although Hazard has been the subject of interest from clubs, his intention is now to retire.

Hazard has been linked with a move to MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps as well as clubs in the Saudi Pro League and there have also been suggestions of a return to France, where he previously excelled for Lille.

His barber recently claimed that Hazard has turned down approaches from six clubs.

Lukaku has agreed to take a pay cut to join Serie A club meaning Chelsea will not contribute to his salary

Following almost four days of intense negotiations, Chelsea, Roma and Lukaku have found an agreement that will see him return to Italy with contracts being finalised on Monday evening.

In what is a highly complicated deal, Chelsea will receive a loan fee of more than £5million with Lukaku agreeing to take a wage cut so that the Blues will not have to make any contribution to his salary while he’s in Rome.

Lukaku will earn just over £6m during his season at Roma, but has also had to agree to a further cut should he return to Chelsea in 12 months.

Chelsea had been intent on selling Lukaku this summer, until the Belgian turned down a move to Saudi Arabia, effectively sabotaged a switch to Inter Milan and then decided he did not want to join Juventus.

That forced Chelsea to consider a loan deal, but they have been adamant that they will not leave themselves open to paying Lukaku huge sums again should he return to the club next summer, when he would have two years remaining on his contract.

Roma is seen as a last chance for Lukaku in Europe amid belief that he will be forced to go to Saudi next year if his latest loan spell in Italy is not a success.
