The Blues pocketed around £84.4m from winning the tournament – rather unexpectedly – in July. From that, £11.4m was allocated to be divided among the squad as bonuses. The players and the club agreed that an equal sized slice would be donated to Jota and Silva’s family.

That adds up to around £500,000 per player, according to the Athletic’s maths.

Chelsea winger Pedro Neto played with Jota at Wolves and for Portugal and had formed a great friendship with the Liverpool man. Neto was given time off training after the accident, but returned to the squad to play on the 5th, and started every subsequent game in the tournament, which saw his Blues team beat PSG 3-0 in the final.

“It’s been really difficult in the past few days and I just want to leave a message that this final is for him and his brother. It’s a really tough time for me, difficult to speak about it and let’s hope I can do it for him,” Neto said in the buildup to the game.

“I want to dedicate this final to him and his family and show my support in these difficult times for them.”

Neto and his teammates delivered on the pitch, and now have delivered off it too. It’s a great gesture which can change lives.

Report: Chelsea ace wants out, is disappointed with how club deal with players

Carney Chukwuemeka has hinted he’s disappointed with how Chelsea treat players and no longer wants to play for the club according to reports.

Chukwuemeka spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, and is keen to return to the Bundesliga outfit this summer.

Chelsea would prefer a permanent sale, and have reportedly dropped their asking price for Chukwuemeka down to €25m.

Doukouré could wind up at Chelsea

Strasbourg midfielder Ismaël Doukouré is currently refusing to sign a new contract with the club and as a result is training with the reserves. This could lead him to join Chelsea as a free agent next summer in 2026.

That’s at least what L’Equipe are indicating, and they cover Chelsea when discussing the latest on his contract situation.

Chelsea have parlayed their faith in a number of their leadership team by handing key members of the club hierarchy contract extensions.

Sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, and recruitment heads Joe Shields and Sam Jewell have all signed new agreements which are set to keep them in west London until at least 2031.

The six-year extensions are thought to reflect their commitment to the club´s mission and the new deals, as with their previous contracts, are believed to be filled with performance incentives as the Blues continue to chase down trophies following their period in the wilderness.
