Lens statement som følge af PSGs ønske/kampagne er i øvrigt høj, høj klasse:
“In a spirit of responsibility and moderation, Racing Club de Lens, from the very first requests, informed Paris Saint-Germain of its intention not to see this date changed. True to a certain idea of sporting stability, the club had also chosen to refrain from any public communication on this matter. However, the recent multiplication of statements, interventions, and various suggestions now leads us to break that silence,”
“It seems to us that a worrying sentiment is beginning to take hold: that of a French championship gradually being relegated to the status of an adjustment variable according to the European commitments of certain clubs. A peculiar view of sporting fairness, one that is hard to find an equivalent for in other major continental competitions. Changing the date of this match today would mean, for Racing Club de Lens, going without competition for 15 days and then playing matches every three days — a rhythm that corresponds neither to what was set at the start of the season nor to the means of a club able to absorb such new constraints without consequence.”
“It would therefore be understood that the tenth-largest budget in the league should adapt to the demands of the most powerful, in the name of interests that evidently now go beyond the domestic framework, which has already been reduced in recent seasons (Ligue 1 with 18 clubs, discontinuation of the Coupe de la Ligue).”
