Wenger also aimed a blast at the transfer market in generally and claimed Newcastle´s spending spree is unfair on the rest of the Premier League.

Newcastle have spent big on French players, reinvigorated their squad and Wenger feels that leaves an unfair balance between those clubs who have played the Toon Army twice and those who have yet to play them.

"It´s a market for me that is a wrong transfer market because the only teams who sell players are teams in financial trouble, or players who are unhappy where they are. So the gamble is much bigger than during the normal transfer period in mid-summer," said Wenger.

"I think it should be all completely cut out or limited to two players. Because it is unfair for the league that some teams who have played for example now twice Newcastle already have an advantage on teams who play Newcastle now they have bought six or seven players.

"You do not face exactly the same team so I believe the number of players you could buy should be limited.

Pardew famously claimed six years ago that Arsenal lacked a British core and has now gone for French flair himself. But Wenger did not rise to the bait when asked about Pardew´s sudden U-turn.

Wenger said: "Newcastle have made good buys and done very well on the market. You go for quality players, you do not look very much where they come from.

"I spoke about the core of English players that it is easier to keep them together, than if you have players from Spain or South America. The most important is the quality of players, and on that front Newcastle have done very well."

Han har jo en pointe, det Newcastle hold der spiller de næste kampe vil formentlig være noget stærkere end de reservespækkede hold vi måtte stille med i det meste af efteråret. Det har jo bl.a. været Man Utd til fordel.

At han så vil have transfervinduet i Januar inaktiveret er meget svært at tage seriøst.
