Chelsea sells Maatsen to Villa.
- Chelsea buys Kellyman off Villa for £20m, despite his valuation being £1m and having played less than 150 mins of professional football.
- Villa signs Lewis Dobbin from Everton for £10m, though his valuation is £2m.
- Everton buys Tim Iroegbunam from Villa for £9m, despite his valuation being £4m.
- Newcastle is attempting similar deals with Everton for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Yankuba Minteh.
Chelsea, Villa, Everton, and Newcastle need to sell players to stay within financial regulations by June 30th.
Academy players are being sold for inflated fees before the June 30th deadline.... we are know why.
For context highly rated Man United academy prospects like Zidane Iqbal, Teden Mengi, and Hansen have been sold for less than £1m each... (those fees Everton/ Villa are getting is not normal).
Same clubs are finding loopholes around financial regulations again.
Chelsea spends heavily but can offset this by selling assets, offering long contracts, and selling youth players.
Needs sorting.

New York Times :
Interesting carousel of transfer moves involving players from Everton, Chelsea and Villa taking place. All happening before the end of June. Fortuitous timing for all involved.
For wondering why this might be the case: players being sold ensure the entire amount is immediately banked on balance sheets, while amounts paid for those bought can be split across contract length for accountancy purposes. Sadly means academy players most saleable - pure profit
One thing to be aware of is the PL’a “good faith” rule, which is quite broad.
If officials believe clubs are trying to circumvent rules by they could be found to be in breach. Also transfers can be reviewed and *cough* face being assessed for fair market value. Cue more mayhem.

“Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.”
