Jeg har spurgt Chat got, og fik dette svar: Why Athletic Club fans (and others) shouted “die”: • Moral outrage: A large segment of Spanish fans — especially from more left-leaning clubs like Athletic Bilbao — viewed Greenwood’s presence on the pitch as offensive and unacceptable, regardless of dropped charges. • Public protest: The chants were, in their view, a way to express disgust at clubs (like Getafe and by extension Manchester United) for giving Greenwood a platform. • Cultural context: In Spain, politically and socially active ultras often use aggressive chants to make strong statements. Chanting “muérete” is extreme, but it’s not uncommon for it to be aimed at deeply controversial figures. • Athletic Club’s ethos: Athletic is famously proud of its Basque-only player policy and strong ethical self-image. For some of their supporters, allowing someone accused of abuse into La Liga — and especially applauding or normalizing him — is deeply at odds with those values.
