Lidt blandede WSET-noter (Bordeaux):
2012 Baron Philippe de Rothschild Mouton Cadet Bordeaux AC Sauvignon Blanc (12%)
The wine is clear and bright with pale lemon green colour and legs.
The nose is clean and youthful with medium intensity aromas of green- and citrus fruit (granny smith, grapefruit, lime) with floral and herbaceous hints (elderflower, grass).
The wine is dry on the palate with high acidity, no tannins, medium- alcohol, light body and medium- intensity flavours of simple green- and citrus fruit (underripe green apple, lime) plus a grassy, herbaceous note. The finish is medium long.
It is an acceptable quality wine with fresh acidity, but the varietal characteristics are rather simple and dilute, the acidity sharp rather than crisp, resulting in a slightly unbalanced wine overall.
Drink now: not suitable for ageing. The fruit flavours are too simple and fragile to develop into anything interesting. The remaining fruit will fade away over the next 12 months.
The wine is mid-priced and 2 years of age.
2011 Chateau Carbonnieux Blanc Pessac-Leognan GCC (13,5%)

It is a very good quality wine with crisp acidic structure (no malo), delicate flavours of fruit and oaky complexity, but the finish could be longer lasting. Can drink now, but has potential for ageing. The wine shows enough substance (fruit concentration and acidity) to last at least another 5-8 years, which will allow the oak to integrate better with the delicate fruit and some tertiary complexity to develop.
The wine is premium-priced and 3 years old.

It’s an outstanding quality wine showing typicity, good concentration of fruit, fine structure (acidity/tannins) and well integrated alcohol. Can drink now, but has potential for ageing. The wine has enough substance (fruit concentration + acidic/tannic structure) to last 10 years at least, which will allow tertiary notes to develop and tannins to smoothen further.
The wine is premium-priced and 4 years old.

2010 Baron Philippe de Rothschild Mouton Cadet Bordeaux AOP 13,5%
The wine is clear and bright with medium ruby colour and presence of legs.
The nose is clean and youthful with medium- intensity aromas of simple black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry) and hints of herbaceousness and oak (green pepper, blackcurrant leaf, cedar – resp.)
The wine is dry on the palate with medium+ acidity, medium+ level of (slightly green) tannin, medium alcohol, medium+ body and medium intensity flavours of simple blackcurrant, green pepper and cedar. Medium length.
It’s a good quality wine with good typicity of generic red Bordeaux and a good overall balance, but the fruit is of simple quality and the wine is not very complex. Drink now, not suitable for ageing. Though the wine has concentration of fruit and tannic structure to keep another 2-3 years in bottle, quality will suffer with steadily fading fruit.
The wine is mid-priced and 4 years old.
