The wine is pale goldin colour. It has medium+ intensity flavours of ripe green, citrus, and tropical fruit (apple cider, poached pear, grapefruit, pineapple, mango) with additional notes of sweet spice (ginger) and very(!) slight hints of bottle age (honey, quince, wet wool). The wine is medium dry with medium+ acidity, medium alcohol, medium+ to full body and medium+ intensity flavours reflecting the nose. Medium+ finish.
Good to very good quality. Fruit is well-defined and of convincing intensity, while the acidity partially, rather than perfectly, balances expressive fruit and residual sugar.
Min første idé var Riesling (Spätlese eller Auslese), men jeg kunne ikke kunne få det hele til at stemme. Alkoholen virkede lidt for varmende i munden, og petroleum/TDN kunne jeg ikke spore. Dertil kom en lettere "ulden" honningsmag i finalen. Mit bud lander på en - relativt - ung, halvtør chenin blanc (Vouvray), selvom jeg ikke synes, at syreniveauet helt matcher...

Syren var ikke helt på chenin eller riesling niveau. Vinen (fra det køligere, nordlige Bas-Rhin) var omvendt langt slankere og mere stringent end f.eks. en klassisk Zind Humbrecht Pinot Gris.
